I don't think that's what Doctors are telling them. I think that's what they're telling Doctors.

But what if they don't believe they are perfect? What if every time they look in a mirror they see a person that's completely different from the one they perceive themselves to be and it's driving them absolutely crazy?

I have no understanding of what it means to be transgender so to me the first way of knowing is to really try to listen to someone who is. I can't just tell them they're not; to just stop thinking or being that. I can't see how doing that will help them in any way.

I'm asking questions. I know very little about transgenderism but I do know how the legal process works with regard to potential violations of the 14th amendment.

Puberty blockers are not the same thing as hormone therapy. Most people don't start on the latter until they are at least 16 and you are right, in those cases that can be irreversible but by then the patients have usually been through years of therapy. By all means more closely regulate the practice but that doesn't have to result in banning the entire process. That's a political decision not a medical one.

 

Comparing vaccines to cosmetic surgery and hormone suppression to help someone pretend to be the opposite sex is dishonest.

 

It isn't. I can remember hearing about sex change operations back in the 1960s & 70s and back then nobody batted an eye. You should probably listen to some of the parents who actually have trans kids. They been testifying at every state hearing concerning these bans but nobody listens to them because the outcome is a foregone and political conclusion. It's not about helping the kids it's about angering a base and winning some votes.

 

The vast majority who go through the process say it does help. A lot.

then they are suffering from a mental condition psychological therapy is the best help for that. If a child wants to be a cat we don't surgically alter their face and give them cat hormones.

To gain empathy and understanding sure but to treat an illness? You don't listen to someone with depression or addiction on how to treat that if they knew they likely would've already.

I don't think anybody is trying to tell them that. The problem I have is doing irreparable damage to children, and pretending that will magically make them the opposite sex.

 

The minority that exists that says it doesn't is reason enough to take pause regarding destroying children.

 

Right it's chemical castration and sterilizing. It's hormone therapy with injury as the main result.

I can't think of any reason to castrate or sterilize a child. It absolutely will never make them the opposite sex.

 

There are children out there who have a powerful, genuine belief that their leg needs to be cut off, that it's alien to them. Should this be left to the people and their doctors, or is it reasonable to have legal restrictions on such operations? If the latter, where do we draw the line, and on which side of transgender surgeries for children is it drawn?

 

I’ve said this many times before so forgive me if you already heard this. My mother in law is absolutely, completely and totally convinced that DHS and the neighbors are spying on her. Because of that, she tore down the smoke detectors and thermostat in her house, screams at the neighbors, and even went down to see the police chief and told him to make DHS stop. God forbid she ever finds out the TV remote hears voice commands. There’s a lot more, but you get the point.

Now because she believes all that stuff does that make any of it real?
