Of course, I never said there wasn't. If you read my post you will understand I was specifically talking about the link in the OP which portrays itself as being fair, objective and non-partisan when it clearly isn't.
1: Clean up our act, even if that means getting rid of V8's and no body will believe I said that being a car lover from way back. Even if a few companies are destroyed, as long as the planet isn't. We have plenty of greedy businesses but only one Mother Earth. 2: Leave it for our grandchildren to fix our mistakes like we have done in the past. 3: Sit around and play our fiddles.
Can someone tell me what the above is about? Refugees? What has that got to do with it? What the heck do you think will happen? Yep they are hungry and over populated and will get hungrier and more over populated ..and .huh? They will come and we wont be able to stop them? WTF are you on about? Invasion? Wake up to what?
This is about what could happen if we as you suggest, just try to prepare for the inevitable. If global warming causes as much problems as we think it will, then what we have seen refugee wise is only the beginning. If you don't think this is a possibility then maybe thinking is not your forte.
Um, no. It will happen anyway, as emissions will inevitably go up, regardless of what we do. OK, yep, spot on. Yep ok, can see that. China would have criss-crossed the country with water and power and there would be 100s of millions here if OZ were theres. How about when you come up with a whole stack of new points you make it clear what you mean.
Your point? Oh no, these are simple facts of the inevitable, not points. This is what will happen regarless of what we do. My point exactly. Thank you.
Sorry, it gets tangled in these forums, constantly the same arguments. You are actually the first person on forums I have come across with a "prepare for it" perspective. Usually it's "prevent it" or "lalalala it isn't happening". You came across as the latter, of the "business as usual", defeatist, nothing we do will make any difference so why bother approach. I apologise. There should definitely be more discussion about this very obvious aspect. The desal plant in Adelaide is being built near the beach, but up a 50m cliff so it ought to be ok. I guess with climate change it will be hard to predict what will go first. At the very least we need more disaster relief and emergency response ready to go stuff.
Indeed, you make a point similar to my post earlier, ignored by these guys: http://www.politicalforum.com/australia/197387-found-great-site-truth-about-co2.html#post4247332
