Everybody understands, it's just that most realize the way forward [and it's not posturing as if you people are the only ones who care]. It's actually re-building institutions that foster opportunity [family, community, education, etc.].

You must eventually come to the realization that your constant whining has nothing to do with them and everything to do with yourselves.

Of course it is problematic for so many black kids to be brought up in single parent homes. Everything from economics to, most often, the dad's absence and the issues they cause. But more than anything poverty is at the root of the problem in urban black America. I suspect the reasons for it are ones we disagree on since I don't hold the belief blacks are inherently inferior, or lazy, or shiftless, or bring on their own demise because of what you blithely call "black American culture."

 

Every time I see comments like that I'm reminded of a cartoon I once saw of a couple of white people asking each other why blacks can't get ahead as they let the air out of the tires of a black person's car.

 

It's like you need this narrative to give meaning to your life. Put all of this energy into something constructive. How about trying to work for school choice where you live. That will help!

I was just pointing out that if you had followed the conversation I was having with Steven N, the Holocaust wasn't mentioned and I was responding to his comment. Just make sure you understand what someone is posting about if they are in a conversation with someone else and you decide to jump in the middle of it, before you hit the 'post reply' button. I doubt the accuracy of this story. The Unitarian Church is, by a wide margin, the most liberal denomination in the American Christian spectrum.

Most has to do with 250 yrs of slavery, discrimination, segregation, redlining, etc. Legal forced systemic racism. 250 yrs of it.
Only 15 yrs ago, did someone in congress offer up an apology to the black community. Meaning America finally admitted, after 250 yrs, the harm imposed on the blacks in USA just a mere 15 yrs ago.

The oldest living people to have lived with America's recognition of those grave harms are sophomores in high school.

My point was exclusively about the incident you cited, and was rooted in my knowledge of the Unitarian Church. About the rest I'm indifferent. I have no doubt that Blacks are stopped disproportionately compared to Whites. I also have no doubt that a higher percentage of Blacks (compared to the total Black population) commit crimes that the percentage of Whites who commit crimes (compared to the total White population).
