    actually not a bad idea but being armed has to be part of that. body armor buys you a couple seconds if someone is shooting at you =time to return fire and kill the guy

    we lost a great cop a few months ago. The killer wanted to commit suicide by cop but officer Sonny Kim-a highly ranked and regarded Karate master drew a taser instead of his firearm and the perp took a wild shot at Kim hoping that would force Kim to kill him. Instead, the killer's bullet hit Kim in the throat right above his vest and Kim died but got a shot off before expiring. Kim's back up flanked the killer and cut him down

    so a vest won't always save you but in many cases, the vest would have stopped the shot

    It's uncomfortable. It's heavy. You can still get shot or stabbed in the face, arms, legs. Body armor is rated to a certain level of ballistic energy, it doesn't stop everything.

    It's much easier and a lot more practical to carry a holstered sidearm for self defense.
