Have you ladies heard the story of the nineteenth century sailing vessel named Mary Celeste? America right now is like the Mary Celeste.

I dunno, Albert... we'd be better off if she was empty. Getting rid of an inept crew is the hard part!

    Captainless, though. For sure.

America is on a precipice. People like me are undecided about whether to push her over the cliff or to pull her to safety. We feel like a new population has been imposed on us without our consent.

The kids of illegals aren't being educated to read, write and do math with proficiency. Those kids aren't going to make it without our help. Instead of asking for help we are having multiculturalism thrust in our face.

Something must be done, but I haven't decided whether to push or pull. The reason I haven't decided is because I can't trust any one's word.

We were promised after the Reagan amnesty that the border would be controlled. That was a lie. Without control of the border first there is no reason to believe that the unending torrent of Latin economic refugees will ever end.

All borders can be controlled. Look at the Korean DMZ or the Israeli border fence. Land mines are pretty (*)(*)(*)(*) effective. Isn't that radical? It speaks to where I'm now coming from.

I agree with Rick Perry's immigration policy of first controlling the borders, then dealing with people who've been living here as individuals... not 'thieves in the night'. I live in an innercity community where mexicans are now the majority. I've seen my neighborhood go from all white to nearly all black, then back to black & white... and now black & white & brown. And we all seem to get along just fine. I've seen entire shopping areas blighted by white flight reborn by the influx of mexican people. Businesses are thriving and yes, they're paying taxes. And so are their customers.

Controlled amnesty, where decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, isn't cold or heartless and it's not out of the realm of possibility. People who've been contributing members of our society for years deserve a chance to become citizens. Those who've been involved with the law need to be returned to Mexico.

This is one issue where I usually disagree with my conservative friends. I find the majority of mexican people to be hardworking, family-oriented, peace-loving folks and I would never support sending them back to Mexico where women sit under street lights to sew and people are being beheaded for speaking their mind.

To Albert Di Salvo: Your title is right on target. Perry’s position on subsidizing college tuition for illegal immigrants did it for me. I’m surprised that neither Romney nor the media pointed out that Perry is also subsidizing teachers’ unions. Immigrants do not keep the tuition money —— universities and professors get it.

And talk about symbiosis! I find it interesting that Bush the Younger let Romney’s pal, the late Senator Ted Kennedy, write an education bill? That makes me think the lot of them are in the Department of Education’s pocket.

You see that's exactly the issue..They wouldn't leave their own countries if the leadership allowed a system of government anything like we have here.
By allowing a porous system we Encourage other nations to continue to force 1 opinion upon the whole.
Latin America must fix its own issues..not export them to America.
If Mexico has a truly representative open government do you believe they would still leave?
    I dont.
They have the natural resources..the manpower..( see China ) and even a greater advantage over China in trade ability.
Their people should be demanding jobs..security and opening/including the power to the lower class..
We are holding Mexico back 100 years by our failure to control our borders.

So having welfare/health care ..and cheap free education for illegals is rewarding Mexico while penalizing America.

Taking rewards FOR NOTHING away has a track record of influencing future behaviors. So does increasing benefits without demanding anything in return.

You folks on the right are just fools. This next election is already over and guess who wins. Take the blacks, the latinos, and the old fogies, add it all up and it spells Obama. Who can you count on besides the Tea Party who are at 20%. I guess you might as well celebrate now because you will singing the blues after the next election.
