I would consider Herman Cain or Ron Paul. Hell, I would consider Caligula or Nero at this point.

Now,im going to take a neutral assessment of this since I really favor no one yet.The problem here,Al,is MONEY.Of all the candidates right now,Romney and Perry are money raising machines. Perry has done some damage ,but his stance on the in-state tuition will not only appeal to the moderate base, but to the Independents, and of all the GOP candidates,he's the only one that could put the base that the GOP really needs and the base that helped Reagan and G.W. Bush:The Latino vote.We saw in 2010 what happened when a candidate chases away the Latinos.Had Whitmann and Sharon Angle not have been so stupid,we would have a GOP California Governor, and Harry Reid would be jobless right now.Once you start with the "lets ship them all back" rhetoric, its will scare those votes away right into Obamas hands. The Independents are very important. But yeah, the in-state tuition thing is a problem, but we will see. Now,the problem with Romney is he has that thorn in the side that will not go away called RomneyCare.During a debate with Obama, how is he going to go after Obama on Obama Care when Obama can just say hey,I molded it after your HC plan in MA.Romney cant go after him for job losses because Obama can turn around and point out the jobs lost in MA.Romney has really flip-flopped on too much stuff for me.Him supporting abortion and funding Planned Parenthood doesnt jive with me,but if it came down to him vs Obama,I would have to hold my nose I guess.Bachmann is tumbling and FAST.She is the darling of the Tea Party, but shes not getting much support by the GOP base. What damaged her was going on and on over the Gardisol crap.Ron Paul is a monetary and economic genius, but his foreign policies are really raising eyebrows, like his comment today condemning Al-Alwakis death.Herman Cain is great.A math and economic wiz,but running the country isnt like running a pizza parlor. When Chris Wallace asked him during an interview about what he thought about the Palestinian Right To Return,he was stumped and had no clue what Wallace was talking about.Newt is a great statesman, and a great debater, but him, like Herman Cain and Bachmann are having money problems. If they can keep raising money, they should last along time.As far as the Chris Christie hype, how long until he is grilled by the Tea Party for his pro-amnesty and gun control issues?Let me say there is a very huge difference between amnesty and the in-state tuition law.One being a state issue, amnesty is on a Federal level. We need to stop running away from the issue of immigration like its a bad word because it needs to be dealt with.Marco Rubio was also pushing the same in-state tuition law in Florida when he was a state Senator. And theirs a difference between the in-state laws, and the federal DREAM act.The federal DREAM act is basically amnesty, which would give automatic citenship for going to college or joining the military. The instate laws require 3 years of living in the state, graduate from a state high school, sign up pledging you are pursuing citizenship, and you have had to have brought to the U.S. by no fault of your own.So no,its not amnesty. The states cannot deport them, only the Feds can. When the Feds refuse to do their job deporting them, the states are stuck with them,so we can either put them to work and have them pay taxes,or they go on welfare and become a burden. And this whole build a 2000 mile fence sounds great, but lets be real.If anyone here has been to Falcon Resavoir in Texas,or has ever been to the border, alot of the rough terrain will make such a barrier impractical.Plus,it would mean taking private land away, and dividing Indian lands also. This would cause a huge series of lawsuits and not to mention the costs. And please,we have been anything but soft on illegals. We passed a law denying drivers licenses to illegals,we passed a law requiring I.D. to vote, heres the laws we are trying to pass in legislation, some passed, some are stalled, thanks to the Supreme Courts which seem to like sticking their noses in states business
    House Bill 16
Would require voters to present photo identification or two forms of non-photo identification before they are allowed to cast ballots.

    HB 17
Treats the lack of immigration status in the United States as a criminal offense and lays out punishments for the new offense

    HB 18
    Punishes sanctuary city policies

    HB 19
Penalizes driving on a highway without a Texas drivers license.

    HB 21
Aims to track the local and state agency expenditures on undocumented immigrants

    HB 22
Requires school districts to turn into immigration agents and inquire about the immigration status of all K-12 students.

Perry's not my favorite, but I can easily overlook the things I don't like him in exchange for the things he's accomplished in my state. ACCOMPLISHED, not just talked about.

He's not a smooth-talker... never has been. I've been surprised he's lasted so long in Texas. But people vote for him because olf the results he's brought forth. Not his stage presence. I can see the same thing happening on the national scene, so I'm not ready to rule him out completely.

Gator's right... any of the potential GOP candidates would be better than Obama. I'll be voting for whoever ends up on the GOP ticket. Guaranteed. ;)

I hear what you're saying, but the Latinos have a problem. They came here like thieves in the night. They must make peace with us. Nothing will be imposed on us. The alternative is scorched earth. Latinos need our help desperately. If they want help they better start singing the Star Spangled Banner and telling me how much they want to be Gringos. Si?

If Obama is reelected he will face a Republican House and a Republican Senate with a group of people like me who have figurative murder in their hearts. I'm ready to jump ship and join the Chinese.

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/president_obama_vs_republican_candidates.html

It's a little early for the squealing.
The polls as of today show Obama beating anyone you can throw against him. That doesn't mean it's how it will end, but you have some serious work to do before you can beat him.
Even a generic republican is only tied with him, but the minute you put a face to the GOP candidate, they lose.
Not seeing the pain you see.
Maybe it's only in your own heart.

Look, that was a figure of speech. If I were to leave America I would not have an opportunity to monkey wrench and mau mau your country. Only family love is better than revenge. And pal, you ain't family.

It doesn't matter who captains the Titanic. The Phoenix can only rise from the flames after it has been consumed by the fire. It doesn't matter whether Obama wins reelection. Do you know what political nihilism is?

Exactly why Obama's having trouble putting on a happy face about this re-election thing. His campaign is sounding more and more like his presidency... his heart's just not in it.

Whereas Rick Perry's is. So is Romney's. So are all the rest of the Republican contenders.

Obama's gonna burn himself out by next November. There's no way he can ignore the situation you described is his future. And he doesn't seem the type to suffer defeat gracefully.

Gonna be an interesting 13 months. You think he'll twist off? ;)

Something needs to be done, but everyones scared of the term "immigration reform".Lately, the only idea is "build a fence and we are done"..um..WRONG.
No artifficial barrier has ever worked to keep people out in the history of mankind.Even the Great Wall Of China failed to keep out invaders.Strategic fencing around metropolitan areas and cities, a much larger military presence and aerial surveys along our border is better and much cheaper than building a fence 2000 miles long.According to Federal law,we cannot refuse children of illegals education, its a law that has been repealed ,but has failed many times. When the Feds fail to do their job,we get stuck with the tab of the flow of immigrants here. But no one can seem to figure out how to deal with the millions already here.It would take alot of resources to gather up millions of ilegals and toss them over the Rio Grande, but how do we do that without looking like Nazis by rounding up everyone with brown skin and has a spanish last name?If Santorum,Bachmann and Romneys answer is to "just build a fence" and let the ones already here continue to milk the governments teats ,than they need to pull their heads out of their butts.Again,im not defending illegal, they are illegal, ilegal is illegal ,but im being realistic because I grew up in a border state. But no,im not for amnesty, they can either step forward to ICE and contribute to the economy by paying taxes and pursue citizenship,or ****.
