I wonder if Christian Scientists got a waiver since they don't believe in medical treatment? I'm pretty sure contraceptives would be outta the question there, too. (There's such a thing as Amish hospitals?)
Fascinating. Logic suggest that this judge is using her elected position to push the gay agenda. It is highly unethical and most intriguing.
What about this situation do you fail to understand? Just because he CAN perform marriages doesn't mean its his JOB to perform marriages!!!
This is what I found from Jan 2010. It doesn't say anything about Muslims though. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/01/16/health-care-mandate-applies-amish/
taxpayer funded employees must abide by rules. If it was a one-person operation, not taxpayer funded, then go for it and refuse whomever you wish
This is very true. The gay community here also has one of the highest drug usages in the country. Its very sad.
I appreciate the irony, but a judge is an agent of the state and refusing to perform his duty as an elected official.
Liberal thinking will allow itself to be so ignorant in order to justify itself. It's hard to believe that American citizens can partake in a philosophy as deluded as Liberalism.
Yea, that's what I'd have to say. Kind of like the Wisconsin Democratic Senators who left the state so they didn't have to do their job. Amazing. More amazing that liberals are so ignorant that they'd allow themselves to partake in this kind of behavior.
A judge is allowed to perform marriages, not required to do so. There's a difference. Her job is to preside over her court. Her job isn't to perform marriage ceremonies. Apparently there are a lot of judges who choose not to do so for lots of different reasons. I understand that a lot of people don't agree with her message. Heck, I'm not that comfortable with her using her position to preach her message, but there's not any reason to fire or even discipline her over it as far as I can tell.
Christian Science is a vastly different religion than Scientology. (if Scientology is properly called a 'religion', I'm not sure) Scientology uses doctors. Christian Scientists are allowed to use doctors if they choose, but they believe that there is a better way to achieve permanent healing. And I agree with them. I don't know if Christian Science has received a waiver or not. And there are no Christian Science hospitals, although there are what are called nursing facilities, where treatment is based on Christian Science, but fundemental tasks are done for the sick in the mean time-, bandage changing, feeding, etc. but healing is left to Christian Science practitioners.
It's called a constitution.. Don't like it? Amend it. Stop being a whiner and do the work necessary to change it. Typical liberal.
conservatives should be applauding this judge taking the state out of a religious institution like marriage
Marriages aren't just religious. You get married by a judge they never mention any religion. But it doesn't matter. We already banned gay marriage so she can stop and scream all she likes
