That was also in the stimulus. Did you not notice your paycheck get lower? That was the stimulus tax holiday ending.

    Tax holiday, meaning, zero taxes.

There are several points to be made.

First of all the "stimulus" jobs were predominately related to infrastructure but the current construction jobs are not. When the stimulus dollars ran out those jobs were lost and those employed went on unemployment increasing the unemployment statistics. The new construction jobs are not using the same people that were employed for the infrastucture jobs. A road builder can't frame a house for example. Different skill sets.

Next is that we do have a need to improve our infrastructure but that's overwhelmingly a State responsibility. States cannot deficit spend so they don't have the money to spend currently. When the States did have the revenue they ignored their responsibility to maintian the infrastructure which is why it's in such bad shape today.

Proposals like expaning fiberoptic broadband services and high speed rail are fine but if we need them then private industry will provide them. We don't need government spending on either of these. The energy grid can stand improvement and the cost of this should be a part of our monthly energy bill. The energy companies need to be paying for these improvements and they do that by billing the customers.

Reconciliation. It's basically why we haven't had an actual budget for 4 years

I seriously doubt that. What proof do you have their temporary jobs were paid for with stimulus money?

Suppose your doctor is 100% behind Obamacare too, huh?

Must be nice to dwell in the land of lollipops and unicorns.

The private sector is not going to supply broadband networks. Why on Earth would they? They're running decade old networks and they're cheap as hell to pass data through but they are the only thing the public can use so they're willing to pay 100 bucks a month for it.

Do you have any idea how much of a rip off cable internet and 4g data streaming are? Broadband companies have 0 interest in upgrading broadband tech. It's gotten so bad that Google actually had to step in and do it. And it took them years to wire up 1 city. That's not efficient.

The government built the power lines. The government built the telephone lines. The government built the current broadband network. And the government needs to build a new network. Because private sector lacks the will and the resources to do it and it's something this country needs if it is expected to compete on a global scale. Because I can guarantee other countries are setting this stuff up..

Jesus Christ you are ill. I'm not going to supply proof for a national and publicly passed bill. If you think it was a conspiracy then you are ill and you need to seek help.

It didn't. Consumer spending is up. This shrinkage was fueled by cuts in government spending. That's what the economists are saying not me.

Our conservative friends can barely contain their excitement and ecstasy that they have some bad economic news to celebrate. It's been a long time for them.

Good for them, but it is kind of pathetic IMO.

That's a wreck-less policy. The bills still need to be paid. And it would be a drastic hit both economically and politically when that tax holiday ends. People flipped out over their pay checks going down by 40 bucks because that holiday ended. What will they do when their paychecks go down by thousands of dollars when your 0 tax holiday ends.

You must have missed my post above:

Congratulations on the negative economics news. I know you've been eagerly praying for it for a long time.

    Come on...keep trying, ol' fellow!!

There surely is SOME WAY you can pretend this is a "good thing", just like people LEAVING the WORKFORCE in frustration, which you call "retiring".

This is the NATURAL CONSEQUENCE of the idiocy of the Obama economic nonsense. Spending money we DON'T HAVE to prop up the public sector , has NEVER,and CAN NEVER work...anymore than his stunning giveaways of taxpayer dollars to his campaign donors, and their phonyass "green" $cam$.....

Eventually, you have to pay the fiddler...wait a minute!!

    I know.....:

    IT'S BUSH'S FAULT !!!!!!

    There, problem solved....

It's called LEADERSHIP. Obama is fighting a war with The House Republicans, denying the situation, using 100% of the sycophantic Jurassic media to sell his lying ass narrative to the sheeple. A real president would work with the hand as dealt, not continue political jihad at America's expense. Sadly, the worse America gets, the stronger the Dem position.

    Really.

Of course not. We should raise taxes because it is immoral to continue to expect future taxpayers to pay for our government.

    What about it?

Your conservative friends are reporting confirmation of their hypothesis.

    It's far from a celebration.

You pay the bills with printed money, just like they are doing now. Nothing will change on the fiscal front.

You always fund the debt through printed money. If it needs to be permanent, so be it.

But it's not a confirmation. It's literally from conservative action that is causing this. Just about every economist is claiming the shrinkage is directly tied to a cut in government spending. This isn't a confirmation of conservative policy. It's a confirmation of liberal policy. You're just so blinded by ideology you didn't bother to read into the details.
