This could be interesting... Do you any of you guys believe in the paranormal? Do you have any experiences you believe to be paranormal, that you'd care to share? Been anywhere haunted? I'm a big nerd about this stuff... I love anything to do with ghosts & the paranormal... I've had a few experiences that seemed off, but, at the same time, could very likely be explained away rationally... Most of them were after my grandmother died about 20-ish years ago... Seeing things at her house, hearing things, etc... But, I suppose in the state I was in at the time, it could've just been my head messing with me... How about you guys? Don't be shy...
When we came to the US I could hear sounds in my closet like someone hitting the door from the inside. I mentioned it to someone on the block and they said later that the people before us used to shove their daughter in the closet when she was bad. Now, I don't even know if the daughter died or not, and it could have easily been air pressure. That's about it for personal experience.
I have the same attitude towards the paranormal as I do with the concept of theism. I don't truly believe in it, but acknowledge that I can't disprove it either. Oddly enough though, movies like Paranormal Activity give me the heeby jeebies. Sure, I'm a tough guy during the movie, but then when it's time to go to bed, I find myself wondering if something is going to violently rip me from my bed and drag me into the basement. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I absolutely cannot stand these ghost hunter shows... the idea that someone is buying what they're seeing depresses me.
maybe. a lot of people have gone nuts from bad rye. that they go nuts and see the same thing in the same place years apart is just luck.
And back in the day, there was no explanation other than the supernatural. http://www.(*)(*)(*)(*)interesting.com/bad-rye-and-the-salem-witches/
that's what i was getting at (but was too lazy to look up and source). but still? what are the chances that everyone will have the exact same trip? that doesn't even happen when they take the same dose of LSD at the same time. there's something going on. i haven't seen it but in light of there not being any other explaination for coffe mugs flying across rooms with muiltuple witnesses at mulituple time, i'd say the chances of a ghost being involved are pretty good. when you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the answer.
I do believe in the spiritual realm.....and I think it does no good to delve in it. I also think its possible to have "memories' of events imprinted somehow which demonstrate through sounds. That would be more of a scientific thing. I read a story about a room in a house where people occasionally heard billiard balls clanging. It was discovered that the room used to be part of a billiard hall.
Something like this could totally change my tune, but as of yet I've not experienced anything so dramatic.
One! Dark moonless night running about 70 on my bike and there was a shadow (nothing from me) following me on my left. At times it would get next to me. I would speed up and lost it just to have it catch up again.
You'll be unsurprised to know, no. Ghosts are fictional. I saw some special on tv for Halloween. Like all of those programmes, they have everything on it but a ghost. It's a lot of tripe.
Negative. If I see a ghost I'll believe in them. Our senses can play tricks on us...take vision for instance. Hold your thumb up at arm's length..that's the focal point of our eyes...the width of a thumb...the rest is peripheral which our brains create...trying to make sense out of chaos. Our senses can be easily fooled as it's the brain's attempt at making sense of a particular situation.
I believe in ghosts. I love the ghost hunter shows, they're great entertainment. My father and I used to hunt for civil war relics around Sharpsburg, Maryland, on an old hospital site. I've been touched and whispered to, multiple times. We found an unknown at Cold Harbor. We went to get the park rangers, and by the time we got back, it was totally dark. Even the ranger was spooked by the feel of the place.
There was this large park my family used to go to with other Catholic families on weekends... the church ran it. Anyway, while walking a bit, I saw three small flags in the ground by a hill- a US flag, a French flag and I don't remember the third flag. They were about 2 feet tall spaced 2 feet apart on the hill. Everytime you looked away and looked back at them, they would change in order, as if someone plucked them up and moved them. But there was no one around. We went to that park several times and the flags were always there, and would always change order when you looked away. You can say maybe someone moved them but it was an open field on top of a hill- there is nowhere for someone to hide. It consistently happened everytime I went there and it was really creepy. I remember once pulling out a flag and putting it on the ground but you'd turn away and it back in the ground. I even inspected the ground for multiple flag-holes but there were none. The last time I went there, there was a construction crew on that spot and the flags were gone. I asked a worker what they were doing and he told me they were building a cemetary at that spot.
LOL... I bet... Correct me if I'm wrong, but, you are a religious person, correct? Wouldn't the possiblity of the existence of ghosts, which you haven't seen, be the same as a belief in God, which you also haven't seen? Not trying to knock religion or anything... I believe in God, too... I just think there's likely other stuff floating (ba dum tssss) around out there... I bet the NE is loaded with ghostly stuff...
Ah gee, I do have one. A couple of years ago I had to go up to my work, late. I took the elevator up. I thought I was the only one there but I heard a noise and assumed the cleaning crew was still there. After an hour---it was so quiet---I was surprised I hadn't heard the cleaning crew leave--there are only two ways out. I left my cubical and saw a "shadow" "skate" (its hard to explain---but skating seems good) across the hall I was looking down. From one area to another. Here is the REALLY FREAKY part. I had no fear---no jump in adrenalyn. Even though it was---obviously not human looking. I walked down and looked for it, thinking maybe it was a maintenance person and my eyes were playing tricks. But no one was on the floor. I checked it--every crack and corner. I thought it was weird that I wasn't scared..just real calm. I am a VERY skittish person so that wasn't like me.
