So where do we draw the line then? What do we allow and disallow for fear of a lawsuit?

The shame is how eager we all seem to be to just chuck the whole thing because freedom can be hard sometimes and it's easier to just give in.

Ethnic pride over the centuries has been the cause of many wars.

Got no sympathy for her. She did it for attention nothing more.

No conspiracy here. Just a more nuanced view of history than is taught to grade-schoolers.

Ultimately, the Civil War can be viewed as an extension of the original philosophical divide between Hamilton and Jefferson. One advocated for a mercantile economy based upon central banking and industrial hegemony while the other advocated for an agrarian-based anarcho-democracy and these opposing camps became semi-localized within the North and the South, respectively. It's no secret that the North used the Federal government to impose tariffs on English imports and that this benefited the Northern, industrial-financial-based economy at the expense of the agrarian South. These underlying philosophical and economic factors were what lead to the Civil War, not the silly toddler version where Ab Lincoln and the North wanted to free black slaves.

Good analysis but unfortunately it must be marginalized and ignored because it doesn't fit into a neat 2 second sound bit. Now repeat after me:

Lincoln went to war to free the slaves.

Don't forget the other statist myth taught in public schools: FDR saved us from the Great Depression!

Yea, it only took him ten years and a World War to fix things...

We could perhaps make it more difficult to start such a lawsuit. We could perhaps teach people to accept their own responsibility for their stupid actions so they wouldn't feel a need to blame someone else and turn it into a lawsuit. I'm sure there are other options.

By the way, try not to assume that understanding a point-of-view is that same as agreeing with it.

We live in an angry culture. If you want civil suits to lessen we'd have to do something about all the rage and petulance, first.

Assuming you are correct, why does it matter why she did it?

Would the uniform include spandex? I'm offended by many people who think they have a right to wear spandex.

I'm just curious as to why you think it should matter.

Funny how in the immediate aftermath of the Civil War the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the Constitution deal almost exclusively with the abolition of slavery and the protection of blacks' rights. Probably just a coincidence. Or maybe Congressmen took advice from their toddlers in the 1860s.

No, you're right. The north wanted to free blacks. That's why the civil war happened.

Funny how slavery was legal in the United States when the Civil War started and still legal in the United States when the Civil War ended four years later.
