Inflation. The cost today for a McDonalds cheeseburger in 1948 figuring in inflation would cost be $1.94. It is almost half that price now.
\ The first and original McDonalds was in San Burdoo, (San Bernardino) California. Both the Hells Angeles and McDoalds were founded in San Burdoo. Ray Krock didn't join the McDonalds team until 1955 and this is when the real McDonald began. Back in 1955 the minimum wage was .75 cents per hour and immigration levels were low, below 500,000 per year so no competition from foreigners for jobs lowering wages and the burger flippers were teenagers not professional low educated, unskilled burger flippers like we have today who rarely get the order right. Going to McDonalds while growing up during the 50's and 60's wasn't SOP, it was considered a treat only experienced when dad was in a good mood. But why did the McDonald hamburgers tasted better back during the good old days than today ? It's still frozen ground chuck, ten patties to the pound but full of chemicals and the same with the buns today. But back during the 50's and 60's McDonalds toasted the bun on the grill.
During the good old days school gun clubs were common in our schools in the 1950's. Are we doing our youths any favors by insulating them from the often violent world that surrounds them? Or does it make more sense to teach them the discipline of the gun?

My first car, bought in 1972 (used), AU$1000 and it was white. It used to overheat in summer and Dad said not to drive so fast!
