Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has hung signs on all the major interstate highways entering Florida informing everyone traveling by road into the state that the Sunshine State has implemented E-Verify, a background check system for employers to see if prospective hires are in fact legally authorized to work in the United States.

The signs, DeSantis’s office told Breitbart News, are now visible on all three main interstate gateways into Florida along I-10, I-95, and I-75. The signs come after Florida’s legislature last year passed E-Verify measures which DeSantis signed into law last summer.

“I want all residents and visitors to receive this message: Florida Uses E-Verify,” DeSantis told Breitbart News exclusively. “For years prior to my administration, attempts to pass E-Verify legislation in Florida failed, but I would not yield until this matter was addressed. Last year, I was able to deliver on working with the Florida Legislature to get E-Verify over the finish line and signed SB 664 into law. Requiring use of an employment verification system not only places upward pressure [on] Floridians’ wages, it also protects the public safety. Assuring a legal workforce through E-Verify is crucial to upholding the rule of law and deters illegal immigration into Florida, which is more important than ever given the border crisis.”

DeSantis, whose popularity has been surging due to his handling of the coronavirus pandemic much more effectively than many Democrat governors in the northeast, with no mandates or restrictions, also noted that President Joe Biden’s handling of immigration has “been abysmal” and hurts all states, including Florida.

Florida’s governor De Santis has done it right again! Well done. This effort is well worth it. It’s great and I hope many other states and governors emulate this.

Trump needs to support the party but not be the face of the party because that will scare some good candidates into not running thinking Trump may run and after 2020 I just don't know if the independent swing voters want Trump back.

Ron Desantis sounds good but he is just another white guy. If we want to keep the diversity and minority support going we need to consider candidates like Candace Owens.

Let's not forget Trump added 10 million new voters to the Republican party and they can dissapear as fast as they came if we pick the wrong person.

73% of farm workers in the US are immigrants, many of them illegal. The farming industry already faxes labor shortages. The citrus industry in Florida won't put up with this. This won't be enforced, it is just for political theater.

Hey, are you up for your new job picking oranges? I didn't think so.

Then perhaps we need to start encouraging our children to get off their lazy asses and get a job? I worked such jobs when I was younger. Its great work experience and shows people what working hard actually means. Here in Idaho when you're 14 you can get a job, limited to 3hrs a day and only in a select few jobs. At 16 the restrictions lighten...but not by too much. My son is about to turn 16 and I'm going to push him into getting a job. I'll do the same when my daughter turns 16. (14 is a bit young for me... but she still wants to get one...) Too many kids now a days sit on their butts until they're 18...and even then it takes a bit to get some of them to get a job.

I've done that work before. Well...not picking oranges. But same types of jobs. I've worked at berry farms (multiple types), tree farms, hay farms, and potato farms. If my knees weren't so jacked up I wouldn't mind doing it again. Hard work, but enjoyable really. I had the best times working on tree farms during the loading season.

That’s fine, but he should also be reminding all the employers who will be hiring illegal immigrants that there are penalties for hiring illegals.

He is just another white guy, but he's a white guy who has shown excellent leadership qualities. He has defended individual rights and practiced constitutional governance.

That makes him an extraordinary white guy, and the color of his skin really has nothing to do with that.

Many years ago the black man Kurt Schmoke as Mayor of Baltimore also defended individual rights and constitutional governance.

The color of their skin is irrelevant.

No, I've done my share of manual labor. When government stops writing checks for millennials, I expect they can either do it or starve.

Great point - and the penalty should be significant, considering the fact that anyone caught employee an illegal is doing so knowingly, in the face of e-verify.

Lol...DeSantis is trying to ape trump but he’s not really a malignant narcissist, just another lying, conniving pol trying to woo the trump cult.
He failed to learn the lesson about trump.

Oh dear God no. DeSantis, yes, absolutely. Haley? She's a political hack. Just think about it this way, who gets good press, DeSantis or Haley? Haley does, especially from the fake news media. DeSantis is literally Hitler, just like Trump was according to the MSM. The Fake News would love to have her because she's swamp through and through.

The same signs and laws here in Texas.

When they start to actually punish employers who hire illegals then this will matter.

Well, the Florida governor can start with Open Borders Donnie..............
REPORT: TRUMP HAPPILY EMPLOYING UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS WHILE ICE ROUNDS THEM UP
The president is fine with an immigrant “invasion” when it’s benefitting him financially.

Lol...Florida was never known for honest or competent government.
I grew up in Miami since the 50s and also lived and worked around Gainesville for many years, and it’s pretty much been a corrupt good ole boy system at every level during all that time.
The last governor was a con man who scammed Medicare for tons of money and then bought the governorship with his booty.
