Do I really need to post the basic definition of the word assault?

12 hours later and the only one using "Assault Rifles" is you.
Although now that you mention it, not a bad option, you should suggest it to them.

Well, it could go a lot of ways. Clearly 'live and let live' isn't one of them, folks are intent on regulating the peaceful activities of others. But one way it certainly will not go is 'Oh, you voted to disarm me, OK, here's my gun.'

You're right of course. Hate to bring this up but an increasing number of people no longer are capable of using the English language very well. Just as the internet and phones have made learning to spell and do basic arithmetic unnecessary, the distortion of words has made comprehension of communication into something like mapping a plate of spaghetti.

    Information is information.

The one that came after what I quoted of yours?
Wait! Is there some space time contortions in action here and I wasn't informed? That explains soooooo much.

The first line in the Wikipedia source you cited reads:

EXCERPT "An assault rifle is a selective fire rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine." CONTINUED

I believe that the OP asked what the "AR" means in "AR-15" and since there is no rifle named an "Assault Rifle -15" and the AR-15 is not selective fire, the answer to the OP's question is, indeed, "Armalite" and, in this case, not "Assault Rifle".

    Thanks,

    It stands for AAAH!!!!!!!!!!!

This emotional attachment to inanimate object is something you created. I enjoy my collection and love spending time with my family at the range. I also love people and their right to defend themselves. Since gun laws only affect those who are not committing acts of violence, opponents of gun rights are ignoring the problem.

The way to look at it is - government force is violence against individual liberty.

The left want total authoritarian government, total violence against the citizenry - themselves excluded.

    Hi Torus34,

Whenever the general public, you know, the people, are permitted to carry concealed handguns all violent crime including gun crime in public will virtually disappear for reasons that should be obvious.

    Hope that helps. :)

the gun banners take a military tactic and try to confuse the sheeple into thinking the term "assault" when applied to semi autos means a criminal act

So all the states that allow carry conceal virtually have no violent crime including gun crime? What do you consider "virtually" no violent crime including gun crime?

For the record, I'm all FOR carry conceal.

By now everyone, across the spectrum, should know that government is inherently very evil and dangerous.
Nevertheless, this existential threat to humanity is also very necessary.
The challenge of the ages has been to find ways to neutralize the horrific threat Big Government represents.

Gun ownership isn't the problem. Anti-gunners refuse to admit that reality.

When most of the people living in our violent urban hell holes start carrying concealed handguns violent crime will become a minor concern.
Gun control only make it safe for criminals to assume that all the potential soft targets of crime (the law abiding general public) and any witnesses are disarmed and helpless.

No its a, legal concept, that functionally replaces the AR butt stock with an, often, indistiquesable from a butt, stock brace. Originally conceived to allow disabled veterans to still be able to fire an AR. It, legally, turns a SBR (short barreled rifle) into a pistol. The advantage being an SBR must be registered and taxed with/by the ATF, an AR pistol does not.
True, it essentially takes away the AR pistol concept.
Well, that's nice but it still doesn't eliminate the owner of a non-registered and taxed SBR (forerly "pistol") being considered a felon by the ATF.
There is a definite advantage to SBR's and braced AR pistols, in close quarters; like home defense. IMHO, this new SBR/Pistol Brace, "ruling" is a money grab by the ATF, on a technicality, that does nothing to protect anybody, but it is a lucrative revenue source for the ATF. And, a way to track firearms beyond the required Federal Background check; which makes it an unintended, by Congress, power grab, by the ATF.

The ATF, on the other hand, will argue that is enforcing the Federal Firearms Act of 1938, by closing an unintended loophole created by the pistol brace rule, which is true. IMHO, this could be a bargaining chip in any new laws proposed to get a handle on mass/active shooter laws.

People who say that are lying their asses off. Just like someone who got into a car wreck and say, "that car came out of nowhere", when in reality, they didn't see it, because they weren't paying attention.

I've never heard about anyone being shot by a person who didn't own a gun.

Yes, gun control laws only encourage criminals to carry and use guns. Gun tech is ancient tech, and DIY firearms would be far more powerful than anything available now from a local gun store.
