Let me just pull the rug form under this screed by Joseph here.

    1. Know the history of the people you speak of. A thousand years ago, children of the age seen in this photo were NOT participants in tribal warfare...if you can find documentation to prove what you say, produce it. Currently, such things exist as a result of constriction of land and resources via European colonization and a stubborn refusal to put aside ancient disputes & rivalries.

    2. What in the hell is "clearing a room" have to do with an Uzi? In my lifetime, rooms have been "cleared" without using automatic weapons. And "security" means a weapon to KILL someone....an Uzi is used in military/para-military security situations (i.e., Israeli airports, etc.)

    3. Please provide documentation that the Uzi has been replaced by the "glock" in Israel and other nations around the world. I'll wait.

    4. If you had read my post, you would have noted that I pointed out that the instructor AND the parents were in error of giving that kid that weapon. And my question STILL remains.....what is the point?

    - - - Updated - - -

Since we agree on 3 points, how is this thread a "silly strawman"? Especially since to date NO ONE has answered my questions!

    - - - Updated - - -

    Agreed.

I didn't question gun ownership rights....my question remains....why have a child "practice" or "train" with a military weapon such as an Uzi?

Oh, and with regards to your statements about Chicago, here's a clarification: http://gunlawscorecard.org/

why is a weapon originally constructed for "warfare" somehow different than a weapon that is now a target weapon. the Mauser 98 was the standard German infantry weapon for two WWars and yet almost half the modern hunting and long range target rifles are based on it.

I have won over 40 matches with a Colt 1911 which was the US Army's standard pistol for almost 80 years. what is the difference between my son shooting the pistol my grandfather carried in the artillery corps in WWI and my match colt?

you try to demonize use of a weapon for NON-Combative purposes as evil because it was originally a military item. the gun in question was not a weapon of war as used in that accident. SO your biased and dishonest question is just that.

You're comparing muskets to double barreled shotguns or pump action shotguns?

But that's beside the point....the video's point is dead on target.

    - - - Updated - - -

When was the last time you heard of a swimming pool being used as a weapon of war?

Your statement is an absurd attempt to avoid the questions put forth by my opening post.

    - - - Updated - - -

Are cars designed with the express purpose to kill other human beings? No. So your comparison is absurd.

Again, what is the point of a child training or practicing with a military weapon expressly designed to kill people?

    Let's deconstruct Chucks response:

    1. Fortunately, the rest of the world has a better attention span than Chuck...so a news worthy incident that is indicative of an on-going debate regarding weapons in society remains relevant...especially in light of recent events. And since Chuck is taking time and effort to refute my post, he seems to be one of the many who are justifying exactly what I am questioning.

    2. Again, what the hell is the "attraction" for a child to "practice" or "train" with a military weapon of war designed specifically to kill people?

    3. Obviously, Chuck did NOT read my post carefully, nor did he read the article carefully. If he did, Chuck would have noticed that I COMPARED the mindsets of those who train/practice their children on military weapons and the like.....my question is why, rental or purchase non-withstanding.

    4. No one said it wasn't an accident....my point is why have such a mindset that created the potential for such.

The kid is not practicing. This range is a tourist attraction for people who want to shoot full auto. It's a novelty. Practicing requires repetition.
It was a mistake, small kids cant control the recoil climb of a full auto small weapon.

There ya go... all questions answered as you keep requesting....

Stop blowing smoke and answer the rest of the question.....what is the purpose of having a child train or practice on a weapon of war? Your ridiculous "if it's tethered, it's okay" response doesn't answer the question.

Fun? I stopped playing bang-bang a long time ago...but I didn't need a real weapon to familiarize with unless I was going to meet the criteria I stated. And No, you did NOT answer the main question. Stop stalling and blowing smoke.

What recent events? Did I miss a news story about full auto firearms involved in a shooting?
Already answered this twice. No one is "training". It was a novelty. People go here that never get a chance to fire full auto..mostly tourists.

I am not aware of people "training" their children with full auto firearms. Perhaps you could provide citations that show that this is prevalent.

Whatever happens in their lifetime. The 2A is a Constitutional rights and I feel it would be irresponsible to not prepare them for firearm ownership, especially if they show interest in it as a child. I don't want them to be irresponsible with a gun. I also make sure they know how to swim, academics, navigate, encourage team sports and playing a musical instrument. I'm sure there are many other things I teach my kids that I am not mentioning. It's what a responsible parent does.

Because some want to pretend that the 2nd amendment protects only hunting and target shooting. The gun haters simply have no respect for the civil rights of others.

A young person probably trains on firearm for the same reason anyone else does, order to learn to use it safely and effectively. Are you one of those folks who advocates for unsafe and ineffective firearm use? If so, you might want to take another look at "Smoke-Em" Joe Biden:
    http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/02/28/biden-advises-shooting-shotgun-through-door

And now some are claiming that the maps used by Girl Scouts selling cookies, come with a big red X marked over the Biden Home with a warning "don't go near this door in an attempt to sell cookies"!

You did not put forth any relevant questions, you just put forth propaganda statements. Ask a real question.

The OP here is just wandering around in clueless left field. The very first time I ever picked up a firearm and started shooting, I was 4 years old. That Mossberg .22 had been provided to the Boy Scouts by the NRA. I was "practicing" to shoot tin cans off of fence posts. We later buried the tin cans.
Orlando Chuck and Turtle Dude are both avid contenders in their various shooting sports. They and their sons "practice" like you wouldn't believe, with guns that may or may not be used by Special Ops. types in various militaries.
The OP argues with me about the Glock 18 being used as a replacement for the Uzi. He obviously doesn't know what a Glock 18 is. We can very easily find this:
"The Glock 18 is a selective fire variant of the Glock 17, developed at the request of the Austrian counter-terrorist unit EKO Cobra."
    Read the rest here:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glock
This ferret person has encountered the same problem that most of the emotionally motivated liberals come to when they bloviate here. He's dealing with real live experts.

What would you propose otherwise? That minors be kept ignorant of the reality of firearms, with their only exposure being what is seen in movies and video games?

What if it's to train them to fight against a would-be oppressor?
The reality that someone might come and try to take their freedom away?
    What say you then?
Also:To hunt and kill for food.

You know, you gun grabbers seem to be losing the PR battle, why do you think that is?

In 2000: 66% said it was more important to control gun ownership than it was to protect protect the rights of Americans to own guns the second position only polling at 29%.

Today that has reversed. Your 66/29 advantage has disappeared into a 46/52 disadvantage.... what the hell happened?

    No it isn't

    http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/26/us/arizona-girl-fatal-shooting-accident/index.html

    No...none did.

No it was designed to expel spherical projectiles in a rapid manner. How it is used is determined by the human operator. It isn't even particularly effective at killing people so the design failed. Swords, axes, bows, rifles, pistols, machine guns have all been adapted to war, All are used today for entertainment purposes. Your anti-gun rants betray your ignorance of the topic you yourself unwisely posted.

Why do you think the kid was practicing. If they play army are they practicing for war. If they swim are they practicing for a flood, if they play house are they practicing for sex? Your warped application of anti-gun rhetoric leaves one wondering what your childhood consisted of...eh?

:roflol: like most Americans have a survivalist mindset going back 30 years...what woodwork do you come from?

 Please venture a guess at how many people you are describing. I would venture to say the real psychobabble preparation comes from those who believe that blood will be running in the streets if law abiding citizens own guns.

More psychobabble attached by anti-gun nuts to the bulk of Americans who don't do this, but hey it makes for a good story...eh?

you seem to have a real paranoia building here, is this a reral problem where you live?

Nope I pretty much deflated your rantings

Heck lets not let kids do anything that might lead to a tragedy...eh? What an illogical and obtuse comment.

lots of the SHeeple saw the craven pandering the Graboids engaged in after Newtown and realized that none of the laws those ghouls wanted would have made a bit of difference in what Lanza did

Lots of people see the gun banners as celebrating more massacres so they can try to ban guns
