Herman Cain believes that the economy is great...apparently.

You still don't get it, do you? You still continue to think in linear terms. Instead of whining about what you don't have, as most of the bought and paid for protesters of the OWS "movement" are doing, use the brain God gave you to think of other ways to make a living. If you you have to come up with something completely new, then so be it. The Wright brothers were bicycle makers and gave the world the gift of powered flight. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates took ideas from their garages and turned them into some of the biggest corporations on the planet. Henry Ford gave us the affordable automobile. The list goes on and on. I'm enjoying the debate, but I'm afraid that it will have to wait til tomorrow evening. I have a 300 mile run, one way, with 1200 baby pigs to make tomorrow, and I have to be up at 5 AM to load. So until then, have a good evening.

The SEC is not weak. It's useless.

Yes it does. How does increasing regulations help? Those regulations protected him just like all regulations protect people at the top. The SEC does more harm that it helps. The Free Market caught Bernie Madoff long before the SEC ever did.

Yes they are. According to the Small Business Outlet from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce survey the number one thing Small Business are concerned about are regulations.

    http://www.uschamber.com/sites/default/files/reports/1107usc_summit _harrisnteractive.pdf

What lax environmental standards would that be? The EPA.

And the reason why there are so many tax loopholes are because the tax system is heavily regulated as well. You have the IRS for one, who's sole purpose to to make sure everyone is paying their share of taxes. Why do IRAs, Pensions and 401k exist? They exist for the sole purpose of avoiding taxes. The entire tax system is created so that people can avoid paying taxes.

We have an entire industry of accountants. All they do is file and prepare tax returns. What an incredible waste of our resources. We have an entire judicial system dedicated for taxes. Why? Because the entire tax system is too complex for any one person to understand. There are so many loopholes in the tax system, why? Because it's so large that it conflicts itself.

Science is not really an important issue. Of course people are going to oppose Science if you tell them that the debate on Climate Charge has been decided, which it has not.

They're merely telling you to have concrete proof that it man-made before you make economic initiatives which could bankrupt the nation.

I don't think we really need someone to appease China to take on more of our debt. We already have Joe Biden for that and he isn't really all that bad at it if they are still taking on our debt. The moment China realizes that we aren't going to pay them back it is all over. The best thing they can do is pull the rug from under our phony economy.

The problem that exists is that everyone can't be Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. It just isn't possible for literally everyone. There isn't room for it. Yes, they created opportunities and I applaud them. I seek out my own opportunities. I urge the OWS folks to take unusual approaches. But many of them are hardworking Americans that have hit bad times through no fault of their own. They want a job to work hard at. And quite frankly, they just aren't there.

Oh lord, that sounds like a handful. Be careful. Talk to you tomorrow.

The media pass attention simply because they have no choice. You were a hot topic for a week then you died faster than the TEA Party.

Fooling myself? I think you have me confused with the protesters.

You'd have one dime. Unless you talk to yourself or think about fallacious thoughts in your head, then you'd be a millionaire.

I agree completely, which is why regulations need to be written with everyone in mind, not just the little guy.

Just because concerned with it doesn't mean that the rules are bad. They should be concerned by regulations. That's the point.

If I own Kroger, I am going to stress constantly about health standards being met. This is good for society. If you can't run a business and make a profit without resorting to unsanitary and dangerous practices, then you shouldn't be in that field.

Compared to many places, we give businesses a near free ride.

Agreed. Lax indeed. If Obama had gone through with the recommended regulations he would've actually helped the economy and environment both. Unfortunately, he too is owned by corporate America.

You're absolutely right, which is why I support simplification of the code.

Science is an important issue, because I really don't want a President that thinks humans rode dinosaurs around four thousand years ago. I don't trust the nuclear codes to someone with that mind.

Climate change is as undecided as the issue of gravity. Simple chemistry tells us that it is bound to happen: pump massive amounts of a heat absorbing gas into the atmosphere, and the Earth will warm up. This is confirmed by everything we witness.

If I were Huntsman I would make the argument that I know how to stand up against China.

And I disagree. Our economies are intertwined. They may reduce their debt purchases over time, but that can only be a good thing anyways: it forces us to cut back on the deficit. But they will never demand back all of their money at once or anything confrontational. The nature of their investments don't work that way, and they would ruin their own economy by trying to push it.

Is the so called "liberal media" really the best ones to listen to when it comes to whether something is important or not?

If the media is broadcasting and supporting something a lot, I tend to mistrust the movement. If a movement rattles their cages and they clamp down on it, then I tend to be a bit more intrigued.

After all, these protests are against the very corporations that own the media. Interesting how they interact.

Small reasonable regulations have everyone in mind. We are so far past that now. When we create new regulations we don't repeal the old ones. We just add the new ones on top of the old ones we already have.

They're concerned about regulations because it impedes their productivity and expansion. Do you think businesses should get permission just to hire more employees, even though they have the capital and the resources to do it?

The "you shouldn't be in that field if you can't play by my rules" is ridiculous. Either take a job or don't. People have individual rights. You don't get special rights simply because you become an employee. The Market is the equipped to protect consumers and employees. If you don't treat your consumers right, you will lose them to businesses who will. If you don't treat your employees right, you will lose them to employers who will. All regulations have done was protect the consumers and employees from themselves. They don't have jobs and their consumer goods are too expensive. All in the name of protecting the consumers/employees.

No we don't. That's why businesses move. Hong Kong has been the most business friendly place I have ever been to. That is why I'm considering moving there to kick start my own business. The CEO of coke pretty much just said that China and Singapore are very business friendly. The US is probably the most 'business unfriendly' place in the world right now.

He is going by the recommended regulations. That is the point. You can ignore this all you want but you're going to have to learn. Either you'll learn the easy way through looking at other examples like Hong Kong or you'll learn the hard way by experiencing another crash. Either way is fine with me.

You can't simplify it. No one understands it and anyone who says that they do is simply lying to you. The best thing to do is to throw it out.

That has nothing to do with anything. It doesn't take a scientist to know the effects of a nuclear explosion.

Gravity is scientific fact and scientific fact is something no scientist can dispute. Climate Change hasn't even passed the hypothesis stage of the scientific method. And you obviously haven't been paying attention to evidence that CO2 and heat lags heat and temperature.

And over 30,000 scientist dispute Climate Change:

Our economies are not intertwined. They'll be just fine without us. They have us over a barrel, not the other way around. We don't have any of their debt, but they have all of ours. Our savings are not in RMB. If we default they will take a hit but you will be wiped out. All they have to do is wait for their bonds to mature and ask for their money back. You'll either default or default through inflation. The best thing China can do is stop loaning you money.

Actually, if you read what he says, he's in favor of turning it over to the states and local entities to run. They are much better equipped to keep track of it than the Federal government.

So you have no problem with the Federal government paying millions to people who are dead? The local governments are much more able to keep track of such things than some paper pusher a 1000 miles away in DC. or are you just worried that control will slip out of your party's fingers?

There are plenty of problems, and cons are desperate to make them all worse.
