I’m old and I’m not worried. What good does worry do?

You don't need to be worried but you should be limiting your contact. But you know that.

And there is the point, he can decide on how much contact he makes. No need or right of a over bearing govt doing it.

I understand why they do, whiny spineless liberals would crucify if they did not. As we have seen on this forum for weeks.

This is why the Dems had a man on their primary ticket that wanted to control the size of a soda cup, becuase they want to play the national parent to all of us. F them.

12,469 deaths (8868-18,306) occurred in the United States due to pH1N1

Looks like Obama really screwed the pooch on H1N1. As far as I remember Obama never restricted travel to any country while the pandemic occurred.

While 274,304 people being hospitalized, and 12,469 dying, during the course of an entire year is tragic, it is manageable. Those numbers won't crash either the economy nor the health care system in the US. The same numbers during the course of a month, on the other hand, could basically tank both the health care system and the economy of the United States. And that is the real issue here: how to prevent a surge of cases over a short period of time?

The real picture from the Covid-19 pandemic is still developing. Measures that have been taken to limit its spread will help prevent a situation where a sudden surge in numbers runs havoc, even if these measures aren't going to be all that effective when a significant number of people are led and misled into making light of the threat from the virus. This is true everywhere, not just in the US. The virus doesn't care if you are an American citizen, an Italian, someone from Iran, or France or China. While the ability of each of these countries to provide certain respiratory treatments when the numbers rise among them varies, and the ratio of people dying as opposed to recovering despite falling seriously ill will be affected by that difference, and even though the demographics in each country will also influence the death rate that will be shown (with those like Italy, having a much older population ending up with more deaths compared to people who recover than some other places), ultimately the only real barrier to the sudden spread of the virus (and a very large number of people falling seriously ill and dying) will be how well or poorly a society limits contacts and interactions between its people.

You are also the guy who thinks that there is no way this virus originated in bats because we haven't found a lot of bats dead from the disease. So, not the person to be relied upon for any sort of contribution on this topic other than relentless politicking.

So you agree that the delay in the availability of testing has caused the virus to get out of control. And the symptoms of flue vs Corona virus are different.

And wher did you discover that chest pain is a flu or Corona symptom. And everyone says go to your doctor not the hospital.

No we are at an early stage because we have an ocean separating us from Europe. Also since of course since Trump screwed up testing availability we really don’t know where we are.

There were testing kits available but we didn’t use them because our idiot of a President wanted to develop our own. And he and his surrogates have lied repeatedly about when kits would be available and in what quantity. Of course we really didn’t need to test since Trump claimed the virus was contained, or a hoax, or would go awAy when the weather warmed.

But then he also said he takes no responsibility for anything while at the same time giving himself a 10 out of 10 for handling the virus. Of course anyone who isn’t demented like Trump would realize those two statements are contradictory.

This is not the flu. And the stock market and federal government and local governments are panicking. But we are sure you know more that the experts.

So your personal mantra is “ What me worry” . Think I have heard that somewhere before from a more credible source.

Oceans don’t stop travel but travel bans do. Trumps travel ban with China in January that Biden called fear mongering gave us extra time.

You keep running circles rapid firing BS to somehow think you've got it all figured out.

So how did testing lead to more cases, all ears? If you got symptoms more than a cold, you went to the DR and got a test. Everyone you came in contact before the test was still at risk and some got it and spread it without knowing. This is fantasyland you can't pop out 330 million test in a week so how the heck you going to stop it before you knew it was here.

The libs made fun of Trump for shutting the door to China in January, are you saying he shouldve shut down all borders like lib governments are doing in MARCH?

You've been told for a month how to avoid transmission, have you been following those guidlines? Do you wish all your brethren would have been listening?

Finally no one said it's the freaking flu but it's treated JUST LIKE THE FLU. If you went to the hospital or your doctor a month ago or now you are going to be treated for influenza and pneumonia if you have it from this virus. SAME AS THE FLU.

Roughly 12,000 deaths from the flu in a year is your cut off for determining whether a president "screwed the pooch?"

So then what would you like to say about the fact that ~30,000 died from the flu last year?

Where is the word cut off Professor's statement, you got a plan on how to limit 12,000 deaths from the flu? If so hurry and call the CDC I'm certain you'll make millions off the solution. If not what the heck are you going on about?

I think it's obvious that the flu kills thousands every year. This administration knew this virus was an issue and took steps, that you made fun of by the way, early on to help slow it. One of those steps was stopping travel from China.

I didn't think my point was very hard to follow, but I'll help make it abundantly clear.

To use 12k deaths from 10 years as a justification to distract from Trump's handling of the current crisis is both irrelevant and irrational in light of the fact that 3x as many died from the flu last year (i.e. while Trump was in charge).

As to the partial travel restrictions from China, I have to wonder why is it that Trump and every one of his defenders believes that one move is some sort of magical bandaid that can be used to ignore or compensate for every other **** up he has made. The man lied about the virus, downplayed its threat, disbanded the epidemic response team, was slow on testing because he was worried about the impact on his re-election, touted the benefits of the virus, and put a guy in charge who has to make every other sentence a song of praise for Trump.

The effects of Trump's statements is explicitly clear when you review the polling data that shows 31% and 34% of Democrats and Independents believe the coverage of the virus was overhyped whereas 66% of Republicans felt the same. We are now seeing massive spreading of the virus in the States with the rate of new cases each day in the US continuing to outpace the global average for the day and we are still testing at a rate faaar below other developed countries. The economy is projected to shrink by 5% in the 2nd quarter according to Goldman Sachs and the number of US deaths is projected, by the CDC, to be around 200,000 on the conservative side.

Please post where I said "no way". Everything is a possibility, who knows maybe little green spacemen from Mars came to Earth and spread the virus. The relentless bashing of Trump on how he's handling the situation begs for contrast with how Obama handled H1N1. Had milk toast shut travel from other countries maybe the death toll wouldn't have hit 12,000+ in the US.

It was 80,000 in the 2018/2019 flu season. The current death toll in the US is under 100 when in Italy it's 2,500, yet Trump is somehow screwing it up.....pathetic.

If you don’t test you don’t find cases. That should not be too difficult a concept.

My god. If you worry you take precautions against getting the virus. If you stick your head in the sand you take none.
