    google is your friend...
    http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Holocaust/dachautime.html
and those socialists were the SPD-Social Democrat Party...originally banned by an anti-socialist party law in 1878, they returned in 1890 until the Nazi's banned them in 1933 arresting the leaders and imprisoning them in Dachau, they actively resisted the Nazi's through out the war and still operate today...amazing what you can learn from google

    As I said...

You are straining so hard to try to pretend that National Socialism isn't socialism is that you are getting your argument confused. It was a camp used for political prisoners. SPD members weren't imprisoned for being socialists, but for being political opponents. Sheesh!

I'm afraid google won't help you. You need a basic education.

:roflol:...wow, things that come immediately to mind, tea-party, birthers, monster trucks, flat earthers...

can you not read?..."mainly Communists and Socialists and other political opponents"...it's okay to be an adult and admit when you're wrong, s**t happens...just because Nazi's are extreme right wingers doesn't make you a nzai because you're also on the right...

Depends on how you define a concentration camp. The Andersonville POW concentration camp that the Confederacy ran in the Civil War was infamous. But I can't believe that no one used this model before.

    ...Your dim contradictory posts.

Can you read your own posts?
That's the real question. In #351 (just two posts before this one of yours) you yourself discuss how the SPD was considered a political enemy of the Nazis (therefore, party members were among the first brought into Dachau).

Do you not see that Hitler and his Brown Shirts were rounding up political opponents! Not adherents of a certain form of economic governance? Let's see if you are sharp enough to follow this (its a toss up that you will): Hitler also threw many leading members of the Catholic church in concentration camps (in Dachau alone, 2,600 Catholic preists were killed) however Catholicism per se continued to coexist with Nazism and Catholics, by and large, were never rounded up en masse and herded into concentration camps.

I hope youmod edit see the distinction between socialism per se (as I pointed out many posts back) and a socialistic political party that Hitler perceived as a threat. It's ironic you are denigrating others for a lack of understanding.

Indian reservations are concentration camps. We had them first.

We also had concentration camps during the Civil War. Truman's mother and grandmother were in one. All of those things were in effect decades before the British got frisky in South Africa.

Strictly speaking POW camps aren't concentration camps. They house military personnel; not civilians. Concentration camps are designed to house enemy civilians.

Andersonville was rough but so were some of the Union POW camps. Andersonville took the hit because the Union hanged the camp commander. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Wirz

The worse duty military personnel can get is POW and concentration camp guard duty. If their side loses they will usually get tried and executed for war crimes. That's what happened to the German troops at their camps. Some of our troops got tried for acts in Iraq. I recommend that anyone who gets stuck with that duty commit suicide because they're going to get screwed when the fighting is over.

Everyone whoever smelled the stench of a roting cadaver is only able to wonder what an undead Nazi-cadaver likes to call "fresh spirit". Mr. Otto von Habsburg - we could call him somehow 'the last emperor' - was by the way a wonderful man. I'm very proud that he represented for a long time of his life my own country in Europe.

It's by the way also interesting that the greatest meeting of catholic priests ever happened in history was in ... Dachau.

    ... Just
This is absurd, to say the least.
I see you failed to make any headway in your last attempts to make history conform to your own bizarre belief patterns so now you simply try again in a slightly different way.

Most intelligent people would appreciate that trying to fit the National Socialist Workers Party (very right wing imagery there) into a left wing/right wing modern American political paradigm is a foolish act at best but why don't you tell me what it was specifically about the Nazis that was particularly rightist in nature:
The Nazi's insistence on states rights and disdain for centralized power? The Nazi mania for smaller more responsive government? The Naizi's allegiance to Israel (or displaced Jews, I should say)? Nazi love of and reverence for life as demonstrated by their euthanasia policies, their final solution and inclusion of God in party plaforms?
The checks and balances that the Nazis built in place to check Hitler's power? Come on! Which one was it?
Or perhaps it was all of them...all of the ways in which Nazi Germany was so much like right wing America.

Is that right? Did I hit the nail on the head?
Go ahead and tell me. I can't wait to see how this ends.

Right-wingers dont arrest run-of-the mill anyone, since that would cut out the mugs they live off. They murder those who know what they are, as the US does in the countries it is occupying.

Bad treatment of prisoners is sempiternal. Concentration camps collect up whole populations into small, unhealthy spaces, I think; Wyrd's point about reservations is relevant, particularly to Gaza, but I don't know of any general statement about how big the things should be to qualify.

My reading skills are intact thank you, and I did see that line in your link, but that's rather vague, since that would include most members of the National Socialists, so clearly, it wasn't socialist ideology that was the reason for detainment in Dachau. Perhaps I expected too much from you, but I would have thought it fairly obvious in National Socialist writings, speeches, announcements, and ideology if Nazi's were opposed to socialism as an ideology. They weren't shy about listing all the other people they hated and why.

Now excuse me if I take my monster truck to the local tea party rally!

Did anyone actually believe that Hitler and the Nazi's were atheists? It seems to me that it was obvious that Hitler believed in some form of higher power. But Hitler committed a countless number of atrocities and sins, you say? I won't argue that he didn't, but I will argue that, in Hitler's mind, he was committing these acts in the name of some higher power.

For whom was that punch below the belt with that roten (?) cadaver and fresh parsley?

Otto von Habsburg never reigned a single day, neither in your country, Austria, nor in Hungary or elsewhere.
I read he was indeed a nice guy. Apparently he saved some 15 000 Jews from the Nazis.

Some of the posts in this thread would be worth reading. Old topics just keep getting repeated over and over and over again, like schizos waking up in a completely new world every day.
