    That’s the thing — no one. The fed can withhold certain funds and the state can retaliate by withholding all payments to the fed.

    This will bankrupt the red welfare states.

    We'll see... NY is a sovereign state with the right to defend it's citizens the best way they see fit, and not 6 pro-murder judges...

    I'm rooting hard for NY here, even though I'm not a huge fan of NY in general...

    The decision is NOT respected by the majority of the country so it doesn't deserve any respect...

    Well, it depends on how far New York goes in ignoring it. For example, if they flatly refuse to pass a shall-issue law, a judge could, and eventually one would, just invalidate their prohibitions on concealed carry, essentially making New York a wide-open Constitutional carry state. After that, if law enforcement tried to arrest people for carrying concealed, their cases will get tossed by judges, and their law enforcement agencies will be sued, and sued successfully, for violating the civil rights of the arrested. Eventually those law enforcement agencies charters might be revoked and they'd be dissolved as law enforcement agencies if they continue to insist on violating the rights of citizens. Beyond that, if they try to arrest people, they themselves will be arrested and convicted of kidnapping / false imprisonment and themselves incarcerated. I suppose at some point the president may send in the Army like in the desegregation-era South. The NYPD could get shot by the 101st Airborne if the push it too far, I suppose.

    Correct, they wont. And even then their ability to do something is shaky at best. This nation is built on trust and compliance. That has been eroded to such a place that it virtually no one believes it exists.

    LOL! No, that's not how any of this works. States don't generally pay the Feds. Almost all the revenue for the fed (90+%) comes from individual and business taxes. If they try to not pay, they get arrested by the Feds. There's no mechanism by which New York can "withhold all payments to the fed" because they're not the ones making the payments, individual New Yorkers are. I'd invite the passionate leftists to go ahead and try ceasing all income payments. Have fun in prison a$$holes.

    Whether you like it or not, this was the correct ruling. The law struck down was unconstitutional for a hundred years.. Just another illustration that just because a law has been enacted, does not mean it is constitutional.

    You didn’t ask a question in the post I responded to. I don’t respond to posts where personal insults are levied — if one has been ignored it was for that reason.

    I asked a specific question, indicated by an interrogatory mark and then had a specific request, which you have ignored both. Care to try again or are childish insults the flavor of the day?
