    Rush Limbaugh. (EIB)

(CNSNews.com) -- Prominent conservatives in media and politics praised talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh this week as he began the 30th year of a nationally syndicated program that draws more than 26 million listeners per week.

"Rush's impact on the conservative movement can't be overstated,” conservative columnist and editor-in-chief of the Daily Wire, Ben Shapiro, told CNSNews.com.

“He was the key popular expositor of conservatism in the lead-up to the 1994 Republican revolution, the mover and shaker behind the 2000 election, the blowtorch behind the Tea Party,” said Shapiro. “I grew up on Rush, and so did all the conservatives of my age range. Thanks, Rush."

Founder and president of the Media Research Center, Brent Bozell, also emphasized Limbaugh’s enormous positive impact on the nation.

“To gauge the value of a person or institution, reverse the equation: Where would the world be without him/it? In Rush Limbaugh's case the answer is nothing less than tectonic," said Bozell. "I say this without an ounce of hyperbole: I firmly believe that were it not for Rush, this country would be either firmly socialist, with some resisting with their final weapon: force. In short, it is because of Rush that America has survived. The debt this country owes him is simply unmeasurable. He's a true statesman. And on a personal note, let me add that he is one of the most humble men I know, and all of us can learn a lesson from that, too."

Limbaugh first launched “The Rush Limbaugh Show” on August 1, 1988, at the age of 37 in New York City. Since then, his show has remained at the number one slot, topping other extraordinarily successful radio personalities, including Sean Hannity, Dave Ramsey, and “The Great One,” Mark Levin, according to Talkers Magazine.

“I’d be remiss or worse if I didn’t mention that today is the 30th anniversary of the Rush Limbaugh Show,” said Levin on Tuesday. “Thirty years. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t know what we would do without Rush.”

“He’s been not only huge for this industry, the Babe Ruth of talk radio, but even more for the country,” said Levin. “He’s a dear friend of mine and he always has been…. I want to salute him and I want to thank him.”

    Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.)

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) told CNSNews.com, "The beginning of the end of the mainstream media dominance of the news cycle started with the emergence of Rush Limbaugh. He provides a much-needed public service."

Dr. Larry P. Arnn, the president of Hillsdale College, said, “Rush says he gets by on talent. He does, but what does that mean? It means he has a quick and penetrating mind. It means he has used it to think about public affairs for 30 years and so has become knowledgeable. It means he works 18 hours a day for years longer than he has any financial need to do so. It means finally that he has a wicked wit, and he is not afraid to use it. Not common gifts, but when they occur they make for fame, and they make a difference.”

With Limbaugh’s success came no shortage of criticism, primarily from the left. Liberals, Hollywood, late night TV, network and cable news outlets, academics, leftist lawmakers, activists, pro-abortionists, publishers, pundits, and presidents -- you name it – have viciously criticized Limbaugh and his listeners. The left has also sought to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine to stifle Limbaugh’s voice. http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article...raise-rush-limbaugh-he-enters-30th-year-radio. Thanks to Rush Limbaugh for being there. He's contributed much to American media. He's a positive influence for many people. We love him.

And look at what Rush and his ilk have done to public discourse in this country. He's made a career out of spreading fear, loathing and intolerance. There is a special place waiting for Rush on the cheap side of Hell. Have fun there, Rushbo.

Rush Limbaugh knows exactly what his listeners want to hear and feeds it to them daily. The listeners will call it steak. The critics will call it BS.

I simply call him a Political Preacher. Feeding the masses with the religion of politics to make them feel better about themselves, without much critical thought behind it.

When Rush arrives in Hell, he will find himself without his Oxycodone and stiffy bills. They don't call him OxyRush for nothing.

Rush will end up in Heaven for all the good work he's done here. He gave voice to millions who'd not been heard before.

I never wanted him taken off the air. You and yours can listen to him on the radio 24/7/365 for all I care. I was just stating what he is, a scumbag.

Probably. White guys acting black is a pretty marketable thing in our kosher, progressive society.

He is one of the great demogogues of American history.

He is only a "great" American if your cast of great Americans includes Father Couglin, Walther Winchell, John Birch, etc.

He is, and has always been a peddler of fear, xenophobia, bigotry, and ignorance.

He speaks Archie Bunker to a vast, ill informed and poorly educated audience that thinks what he says is both fact and news simply because he validates their prejudices.

I rarely listen to him, but I wouldn't call him a scumbag.

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh ranked fourth on the Most Generous Celebrities List by donating $4.2 million, or approximately 13% of the $33 million he earned last year, to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, a charity that helps support the children of Marines or federal law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.

Rush Limbaugh's 26th Annual Leukemia & Lymphoma Cure-A-Thon Raises More Than $3.3 Million Dollars

LOS ANGELES, April 11, 2016 – On Friday, April 8, The Rush Limbaugh Show held its 26th annual on-air Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Cure-A-Thon. Mr. Limbaugh dedicated portions of his three-hour nationally syndicated radio program to encourage listeners to join the effort to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
On-air and online donations increased 15% over last year with the 2016 Cure-A-Thon raising more than $3.3 million dollars. Over the past 26 years, Mr. Limbaugh and his audience have collectively raised more than $47 million dollars for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, helping provide much-needed research and support for individuals and families affected by blood cancer diseases.

Nobody has tried to take Limbaugh off the air.

Although a sponsor boycott finally did take hold.

Limbaugh's decline is due primarily to demographics and technology.

AM radio is yesterday's format, on life support.

And Limbaugh's average listener has been in Social Security for several years. It is also 99% white.

There are few accurate numbers on Limbaugh's actual ratings, and El Lushbo works to conceal them.

But we do know that he was forced to cut his rates substantially after the Sandra Fluke boycott.

He also lost nearly all of his flagship stations in major markets, and was dropped by several syndicators.

At his height, he, and his syndicator could force radio stations to take a complete package of rigth wing talk radio shows in order to get Limbaugh. Mark Levin and Sham Hammity both benefitted from that arrangement.

When Cumulus came within a hair's breath of firing Limbaugh, Hannity was the first package host thrown overboard. Limbaugh stayed on Cumulus, although they dropped him in many markets and forced him to cut his rates before his Clear Channel contract came up for renewal.

Clear Channel (now iHeart Radio) renewed his contract last year. But no fanfare accompanies the announcement. And no announcement of how much the deal was made, unlike when he renewed back in the 2000's.

iHeart Media is also on the verge of insolvency.

Limbaugh will survive for some time, in one form or another. But he's history already.

I have always believed that like Couglin, Winchell and other blowhards and charletans, Rush Limbaugh will spend his final days in obscurity, spurned by the audience that one loved him, but won't want to admit that they ever even owned an AM radio.

Maybe he and his neighbor down the street, Donald Trump can get together to hash over old times!
