Sorry. Not my intention to spoil. I think my description was vague enough to whet appetites and no more. But you need to know it's spoiling, not human sacrifice, that's demanded of us. I do as I'm commanded.

I recently watched "Portrait of a Zombie", "Sinister" & "Silent Hill". I liked them all, especially "Sinister" & "Portrait...". I expect a "Sinister" part 2. "Portrait" was more graphic than I expected.

My 8 and 6 year old grandsons are insisting that I put down:
    Eight Legged Freaks!

Now mind you these kids are not allowed to watch "real" horror movies so a film like this and Hocus Pocus is considered scary by them. :)

Just finished watching The Thing (1982).

Still Carpenter's finest film, and one of the best horror movies ever.

Not really a spoiler, anybody who noticed Joss Whedon on the credits should know to expect SOMETHING more than "Friday the 13th, Jason Does A Musical"

    SSSAAAyyy....nah...., probably been done already.

What I liked is about the movie is that, while totally original, it's also a perfect homage to Lovecraft's Style. That was one of the main reasons most of his stories didn't succeed with the public (besides the fact he didn't write enough). They would start out being horror, but then turn into SF, and sometimes even morph back as he remembered what he was writing. The public of his day didn't go for genre mashups

Looking at them nowdays, they really seem lame. Try to pass those off to kids today as "horror" movies.

Yeah, these kids don't have the attention span to understand or appreciate the concept of "genre".

To me, you can't really be a true fan of horror unless you appreciate the forefathers...

It's not just "Horror" per se it's everything. If you have no solid footing then you're just another ethereal idiot floating in the Cloud Of Someoneelse'sness.

Agree 100%. After all, those movies allowed people to use their imaginations. Today it's all blood and gore but little left for the imagination. Overall, the oldies were far better.

    Story-wise, for the most part...

But you still have some cats out there now that can put together a hell of a story...

I just got done watching REC 3 Genesis. It was a Spanish zombie horror flick(English sub titles). I thought it wasn't half bad.

It was almost like Shpere wasn't it. I liked this one better than Sphere as it had more action but, I think the problem was that it was tryng to do too much too fast to really let the horror sink in and depended on the audience to know much of what is going on without letting the suspense build.

I liked it, however, will not be one of my favorites such as Alien but, I liked the special effects and the characters were plausible as was their mission but for some reason I didn't find the movie was effective in portraying the hopelessness and remoteness of their plight as well as it could have and, everything had been done before and this one offered no new innovations. The chilling parts were ok but could have been better as the Haunted House aspect of it all didn't resonate with me in a creepy enough fashion.
