You do realize that the reforms you advocate would require a constitutional amendment abolishing the senate and the destruction of the American government as we know it right?

You realize that with such reforms in place, if a situation like 1994 or 2008 or 2010 happened.. it would guarantee single party tyranny over a large part of America with no legal political recourse by smaller populated states.

The sparsely populated rural states have no desire to live under the rule of dense urban states. It would lead to civil unrest and violence to even suggest seriously trying to abolish the Senate.

Why would anything need to be abolished? As for destroying American government as you know it, that's the idea, isn't it?

Keep the Senate. Australia has one too, for exactly the reason that small states need fair representation.

It's not the structures that need changing. It's who wields the power within the structures; and how they are empowered.

I refer you all to the Pledge of Allegiance:

...and to the Republic, for which it stands...

And then to our Constitution (Article IV, Section 4):

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

Campaign finance reform is a complicated issue.

I don't think that corporations or any other organization should be allowed to donate to candidates or pay for ads that mention a candidate in any way.

Free expression is an individual right. The individuals who make up a group have a right to free speech. The group itself does not.

Why should a labor union or corporation be allowed to make campaign contributions directly? Prohibiting the group from making contributions doesn't impact the rights of the individual members of the group in any way.

I realize that the law treats a corporation much the same as it does an individual, but that needs to be changed, IMO.

I wish our campaign finance law was something like this:

ALL campaign donations must come from INDIVIDUALS registered to vote in the district the candidate is intending to represent.

So we need a Democratic Republic rather than a Federal Republic. And that pledge of allegiance is not mentioned in the Constitution, being a pledge created by the new Federation after the civil war was over. Then modified with "under God" in 1954 during cold war paranoia of communist infiltration, because communists, being atheist, supposedly would never take such an oath. HAHAHA.. history...funny... We need a NEW oath.. one which no muslim, liberal, or other non patriotic illegal alien would ever dare to repeat. Something like" We few, we brothers in arms, pledge this Barbeque Pork roast in honor of those fallen documented citizens who Defend Arizona to this day against those would infiltrate with anchor babies secretly in league with "the terrorists", by God, and Caesar, hail the Day of New Order!

Just because you can teach a child to fart, doesn't mean you should.

I get it. Americans are fat. Which is true. Good thing fat people are jolly, or that might have hurt our feelings.

It's like my grandma always used to say, if the truth hurts your feelings, that's a you problem.

yea, how's it going in those other countries where they take to the streets and complain? Is it helping? Maybe we should bring our forks with us when we complain to make it more effective. Or maybe, instead of complaining, we should place more value on our vote.

Simple.........let anyone stand.........allow no subsidy of candidates limit the budget anyone can spend to stand for office!
Allow everyone over a certain age the right to vote! Regardless of colour or creed.
    Compulsory voting!
    Hugh fines for not voting!
No political appointee's of law officers!
No-one above the law, regardless of how much money they have. ie Bush Obama, Blair, Strw being forced to go infront of the International courts of the Hague!
    Aaaah democacy!

Those things people of all nations gave there lives to allow the rest of us some peace and security from the parasites!

Remind me. How is the United States any less of a democracy than the countries which you've named?

Indeed, they got the idea from us.

    My mistake.

See, the US already has a democracy. I assumed you were talking about people taking to the streets to complain in countries that were already democratic like France and Greece. That would have made your statement relevant.

They got the idea from you? Sorry but you did not invent democracy, you missed that by about 2300 years...and thousands of miles..is this what is taught in America schools? My post was about people who got out on the street and reclaimed their democracy..try reading thru the posts again and then you might have an idea what I was talking about.

Your country is run by companies..

If vote for one big business lack after another, it's not because I don't have a democracy.

And I thank God for it EVERY DAY! Democracy is the WORST possible form of government, that's why the FF's chose a REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC for us, and we've managed to keep it for 234 years now.

You're just jealous because you're still just a SUBJECT, you have no Rights, just privileges that can be given and taken at the whim of your MASTERS.

But as said previously...... you don't and wouldn't understand the difference or the benefits of a democracy as you've never had one!
Is that another one like "liberal"..... the english word...... it has one meaning for an American another for the rest of the english speaking world?
Representive republic....... is that the same as a Dictatorship or tyranny that known throughout the world that Americans call "The American dream"???
