You just inferred that folks living in areas with high gang activity arent people. Im sure that wasn't your intention, but it does highlight the elitism, or perhaps affluence inherent to the gun control narrative that laser focusses on the 'assault weapons' that account for the bulk of mass shootings broadcast by the media but only a tiny fraction of overall shootings (and overall mass shootings) that are done with handguns by gangs in poor minority areas.

If we can assume that we're just as concerned about the children of ethnic minorities as we are about the children of white people, then this disparity still doesnt make any sense.

The agenda on this issue from both sides is easily seen. I think it’s less about banning guns and more about keeping one’s family safe. The two sides just have different ideas on how to do that

Thoughts and prayers fatigue. We already know the Right's position. More guns, more people with more guns, more people with more guns carrying them around, more people with more guns carrying them around that can shoot more bullets faster, and making it easier for more people to get more guns so they can carry them around and shoot more bullets faster. Cuz, you know, that's worked great so far. Oh........wait..........it actually has. I almost forgot that is what you folks want since gun violence is not a concern for you if it means enhanced gun control measures.

 

They are people, most of them just don’t vote and thus their will doesn't impact national policy. I was speaking to the people that are heavily involved in the gun debate on both sides.

People, in general, do not really care if it cannot impact them or their communities. Gang violence wholly contained in areas most of us will never visit are ignored while gun violence that could see our child shot are not.

This is just a guess, but the absence of a thread here could be due to the fact that we don't know who did the shooting or why, or what weapon(s) were used. Since so many on this forum enjoy fixing the blame and making it politically motivated, or at least with some possibility of making up a political connection where none exists, that would explain the non-interest.

 

I think it’s a pretty good bet we all have a good idea what happened. Now if it turns out that some proud boys wearing MAGA hats used AR15s to shoot up a black tranny drag show, then this board, Biden and the media would explode.

It is double speak for the shooters leftist nature having stolen their joy. So to them, their lack of joy at being able to lay the trespass as our feet, somehow made us gleeful. Or something like that. Their logic is like the scurrying of rodents, the absence of forthrightness.

 

If people are presented with a certain repeated stimulus at a certain rate they will literally not register it. It's part of how the human brain works.

If somebody in your local town gets shot it will certainly impress on your mind and if you were to witness it you'll doubtless not sleep for a couple of nights. This would not necessarily suggest that you don't care about people outside your ambit being shot. It's just the way the human brain has evolved... to be efficient.

 

I would agree with that. That is addressing normal human behavior. However, if someone is on a crusade against gun violence as many of these folks are, intentional choices about which deaths matter to them is disingenuous and exposes true motives.

The facts of the case don't really push a gun control agenda, and that was fairly obvious from the beginning. So no major coverage is needed. Just hang on though, there will be a shooting that can be used sooner or later.

We are numb and take it granted in Baltimore. It’s a huge shame because the city has built a beautiful convention, and the Inner Harbor area and the restaurants in Little Italy are great.

The trouble is the progressives have let the thugs take over. My wife, who used to go around the city on a regular basis, is afraid to return. I love Camden Yards and went to many baseball games there. Thugs should not rule, but in cities where progressives rule, especially progressive DAs rule, it’s business as usual.

My son went to a convention there and the cab driver told him to stay in his hotel when he's not at the convention.

 

Well in order to believe something that a quick peak in you under wear would show to wrong one must perforce be a bit nuts.

 

My guess is that they don't have a suspect and thus can't blame white people yet.

It's Baltimore. That city is as bad as Chicago which I think had about 35 homicides this last weekend.

At some point news articles about murders and shootings are pointless. Given who runs Baltimore and Chicago, what do you expect goes on over the weekend?
