So in other word you're a troll... gotcha.

Troll strategy #22: stay evasive and non-commital all the while playing the offended virgin.

    Offended virgin act again.

    My answer:

You can if they are trying to ram it down the throat of other who doesn't share it. This is especially true if it is written in their guide book that there is only one god and that he is it...

    ---------------------------------

Are you THEY? Did you see the IF?

If you are one of those convertion-happy christian, and if your god is the god of the bible then for you, your god, is the only one since it is written in your holy book...

    You replied to my post.
Save it for someone who is ramming something down your throat.

By the way, if someone tells you that their god is the only god and this causes your panties to get all wedged up your backside, you need to develop a little backbone.

But faith is knowledge to the faithful. This is why it irks the faithful to point out that faith is not knowledge.

I asked you a question, which in your trollish behavior ignored and performed the offended vigin trollish tactics instead.

    So lets try again:

    - Who is your god?
    - Is it the only one?

Out of all the thousands of Gods, how many were created before the Jewish/Christian God? How many were created after? How many were created about the same time?

Maybe created isn't the right word, but you know what I mean.

What about the people who believed Aliens put their DNA into primates and created humans for slavery? This was roughly 3000-4000 years before Abraham and Moses were even born. This is like the first form of evolution before evolutionists even existed.

What about the other parts of the world? Lets say the Christians are right and their God is the only one, does he just effect one part of the world? Why not created prophets in other parts of the world? Why let other people suffer before the world of Jesus can even cross the Atlantic ocean? Whats not to say their God is the same as your God but you just haven't connected the dots?

    I meant word of Jesus...

It would take another 1000 years before people in the Americas even heard of Jesus. So the generations of people living there before then would go to hell essentially because they didn't accept Jesus.... This doesn't make any sense... So you're against killing a baby but you're okay with a couple million people going to hell because of where they were born?

So when this god declared that he created Adam "in OUR image", he was just being snarky? Are we assuming the entirety of the biblical text, or only certain sections with their particular god-versions?

Or... you would be picking based upon some other set of criteria and goals; perhaps you like the number 17, and since no particular possibility seemed any more or less credible, you made the choice based upon this preference on provisional grounds such as numerical taste.

Well if we are going to assume the entirety of Biblical text,The Bible says that Jesus was with God in the beginning. So no, I wouldn't presume "snarky" with that one.

all that would matter is that I picked.

My belief in a god/creator, or finite set of gods/creators, would void belief in all other possibilities.

And so the question, why does one believe their god to be the only god, is really quite silly.

I have an even better question. Why is it that pretty much all major religions today leach off the God of the Bible. Here are a few.

    1. Judism
    2. Islam
    3. Mormons
    4. Jehova's Witness
    5. Catholocism
    6. Myriad of different branches within Christiandom

Out of these 6, Christianity and Islam comprise the bulk of believers today.

I suppose the one major religion that does not apply would be Hinduism, but then, that is only because there are more people that live in India than there stars in the sky. Basically it is a local religion and not a world wide religion. I suppose you could also mention Buddahism, but that is more of a philosophy than religion.

I would say that if there is a God who wants to be known, then a religion based upon him would have ancient roots. In addition, that religion would not die.

That kinda limits the field a bit, no?

So it doesn't matter which god you pick just as long as you pick one?

Why? I would ask the question in order to understand what logic you would use to come to the decision to believe in a god. Is it silly to want to understand?

    Who is your god?
    Is it the only one?

    different topic.
    start a thread.

If the assumption is that you believe, the rest of the questioning in the OP was senseless.

Why that assumption rather than another? How are we to determine what's the 'entirety' of the text, if such a thing exists? Break out the concordance often?

According to what? It might matter more to keep picking, or simply mix metaphysics up... rotate from day to day, dance with belief and toss them away as you please. Why is 'picking' one...

... to the exclusion of all others so important here? If you are doing so on the grounds of taste, or as a matter of provisionality, then you wouldn't be 'voiding' other possibilities... merely setting them aside temporarily. But what you're proposing...

... is the sort of hard metaphysical claims that burden you; for you to believe such absolute exclusivity requires that you PROVE it... concretely supporting your possibility while properly dismissing all other possibilities.

    Can you do so?

It is the question posed in the OP. This is the thread that was started for that question.

You keep saying that. I told you what sense I see in it, then you told me to start another thread to ask the question that is posed in the OP of this thread.

You seemed to have overlooked my other questions.

So it doesn't matter which god you pick just as long as you pick one?
    Who is your god?
    Is it the only one?
