    ...frankly, I've lost count. http://www.godchecker.com/

Theists, do you deny all other gods but the one(s) which are worshiped in your religion?
If so, how do you know yours is the only 'true' god and faith?

Have you conducted an investigation and concluded that, for example, Chaac does not exist?

From my point of view (according to my faith), if they were necessary at some point then they were created, lived and died once their task was done, just like everything else. And when I say created and lived, it may have been physically or metaphoricaly (dream, imagination, thought).

    The Greeks had this covered.

In addition to the twelve main gods and the innumerable lesser deities, ancient Greeks worshiped a deity they called Agnostos Theos, that is: the Unknown god. In Athens, there was a temple specifically dedicated to that god and very often Athenians would swear "in the name of the Unknown god" (Νή τόν Άγνωστον Ne ton Agnoston).[1] Apollodorus, Philostratus and Pausanias wrote about the Unknown god as well.[2] The Unknown god was not so much a specific deity, but a placeholder, for whatever god or gods actually existed but whose name and nature were not revealed to the Athenians or the Hellenized world at large.

They made darn sure they weren't going to offend any god!

Polytheists claim everything is a God and Godliness prevail everywhere. Natural forces too are Gods and read Hinduism for instance

Not all polytheists claim this. While many of them acknowledge many gods most pagans only 'use' certain gods. Also if you study cross culture you will find many of the gods are the same gods with different names.

When we discuss the primitive cultures some make the argument that anything out of the ordinary was considered a god. This has some merit, if a caveman saw a helicopter land he would probably think it was a god come to eat him.

On the other side of that coin, some say that since they were closer to the earth they had some significant insight into certain spiritual matters. This also has some merit. The world today is so noisy and so busy that if there were a natural god we might not be able to hear him/her.

Even many contemporary religions talk about the small, still voice that is gods.

Hmmm.., the Greeks claimed "everything is a God"?
That's too broad a brush you're applying there.

The question is, how would you know that all these gods people have believed in and those which are still worshiped do not exist (except for yours, if you are a believer)?

In some Hindu sects there's something like 3 million deities. The broader ones are around 350,000. The of course there's the Egyptian deities, the Roman deities, the Greek deities, the Pagan deities, the Sumerian deities, the Minoan deities, the ancient Chinese deities, the Tribal deities....

APOLLO: Zeus, Hermes, Hera, Aphrodite. You were right. Athena, you were right. The time has passed. There is no room for gods. Forgive me, my old friends. Take me. Take me.

It is important to realize that there is a whole confusion going on ...

one must define a god or God before you can start counting them...

You can have God the creator creating gods to do things....

then you can have no God the creator but there are gods doing things....

you can have eternal gods and then yo can view them as just another sentient born of parents and who die....

Other than President Obama, I've never seen a god.

I believe man is the only creature intelligent enough to create gods and fearful enough to need them. Chimpanzees are working on it, though.

    Silly question.

If one believes in God, as the creator of everything, how could one believe in another ?

Or all are one, in which case the separate god is actually part of the other god; In some Hindu sects all variations of gods are parts of Vishnu, such as Jesus/Yahweh, Muhammad/Allah, the Pantheons, etc...all an aspect, an incarnation, of Vishnu.

What about multiple creator gods? And how do you choose which creator god to believe in?

    it doesn't matter.
If you believe that they are your creator, then by default you cannot believe in the others.

Except for the fact that you still need a reason to accept one over the others.
