There seems to be a cross reference of posters on different forums. Some using similar user names, some using the same avatar, but ultimately, it's a giveaway because of the exact same posting styles, grammatical language etc..

and both of us really don't care because we aren't english and we have no use for that nanny state nonsense from a nanny state government. I despise Britain's attitudes towards gun ownership and freedom.

that's why I have the same handle on three or four different boards. Many conservatives from DP ended up here because the management at DP was run by mentally ill sociopaths and leftist trolls

According to the FBI, more than 95% of civilian-involved defensive gun usages (DGUs) are resolved peacefully without a shot being fired, and no injuries sustained by either party. Sounds like the opposite of a dangerous person to me.

I cited 2 such instances in post 73 to this thread, and asked if you approved or disapproved of the subjects being armed on those occasions. Color me unsurprised that you haven't answered. I've asked that question of several anti-gunners on this board, and not one has ever been able to manage a yes or no answer. Weird.

On the other hand, traffic injuries are the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5-29 years in the US. More than a million people die each year in car crashes. According to your calculus, anyone who drives is "a dangerous person."

Because you don't have a right of self defense in the UK?

    Give us facts...?
Like Americans don't care if they could not buy a gun in the UK?
We can buy them here. All kinds of them. Machineguns, even.
    That's what we care about
We could not possible care less about your laws, as they are absolutely irrelevant here.

    They don't.
You kill someone trying to kill you and you go to jail.
They care more about the criminal than the subject.

What you posted is simply not true. Please stop making up untruths. My reasons for having guns are varied. I shoot competitively. I shoot for the sheer fun of it at the range. I instruct folks in marksmanship and safety. I am a certified gunsmith and love working on guns much like others enjoy working on old cars. Yes, I like having a gun around for defense. I also like having insurance in case of flood or fire.

So please stop saying you can read my mind and know what I want or don't want and why.

I am very glad that we don't have an oppressive, tyrannical system like you have in the UK.

Glad to see the mods cleared up the crap that I reported about.

Back online this morning, 18 alerts, over 90% mouth frothing about guns. Fight it out between yourselves, otherwise I'm just back into repeating mode.

At least two of the alerts you had this morning were using government sources to correct disinformation you’ve been spreading. :)

I’m glad you are going to stop repeating that disinformation. Good deal all around.

You are very smart. I'd never list any weapon I owned in a forum like this either.

Years ago I used to build black powder rifles. In the last decade and now I took to replicating and customizing fly bamboo fly rods of the old masters like Payne, Young, Dickerson Edwards and Thomas.

I still have the sling I made in my teens over 50 years ago. I was very proficient with it; still was when I had it out down by the river last year. It can be a good weapon for hunting or self defense at range, but is near useless in confined spaces like a home. Ancient tech can still perform given the right context, but there is a reason ancient tech has been surpassed; just ask the Indy 500 horse jockeys. The best weapon ever invented and often not used, is the human brain…. Use it.

The .22 mag is a rim fire cartridge and can be had with a range of bullet designs and weights.

I hear ya. My choices vary, though. I'm not a fan of the 22. Not enough OOMPH (a technical term).
I'm not a fan of the 38 either. If SHTF, non LEO or military rounds may get scarce.
My choices for the coming chaos are:
    - Handguns:
40S&W (Ruger and S&W are my favorites)
9mm (Baretta and Ruger are my favorites)

    - Shotguns
12 guage (Mossberg is my favorite... in either pump or autoloading)

    - Rifles
308 (M1A and Saiga chambered in 308 are my favorites)
5.56 (AR-15... I'm no fan but no matter what happens, ammo should be plentiful)

Oh? They don't make it easy.

"Are self defence weapons legal in the UK?
Boundary lines between agricultural landIn the UK, it’s illegal for any member of the public to carry a lethal or non-lethal self defence weapon. The maximum sentence for possessing a weapon in the UK is 6 years in prison, whilst possessing firearms is 10 years.

    What about self defence sprays?

Under the Firearms Act 1968, the act of purchasing, acquiring or possessing any item that discharges any form of harmful gas, liquid or something else is illegal.

However, although defence sprays are illegal for public possession, it’s legal for law enforcement to use pepper spray for riot and crowd control when reasonable."

You should tell her it's your job to protect her and you're going to do what you need to do to make that happen.
