well be both know that the real issue is this=to the gun banners the "real problem" is not gun deaths. If gun deaths were the problem they were trying to alleviate-they would actually propose things that at least passed a plausibility test as being effective in reducing violent crime. For example, the guns that the anti gun movement are hell bent on banning are used in less than 2% of all murders. To the gun banners, the real problem is politics and the fact that gun owners started voting against democrats when democrats adopted gun control to pretend they were doing something about crime Gun control still is a fraudulent attempt by democrats to pretend they are solving violent crime problems but it also is a weapon to attack pro gun voters

Looking for US and other western currency, Eastern bloc governments started selling off Soviet made AK rifles after the Iron Curtain came down for a discount. An interesting side note-one of my friends in College is an Indian Raj who ended up in the UAE. He is engaged in several forms of international trade. At one of our reunions-fifth I believe, he asked me if I was interested in some 1970 era M16 rifles. I asked him how many he had and he said "thousands" . Where did they come from. He said he bought them from the Vietnamese Government-they were ones that the USA left there and the North Vietnamese appropriated. The price was 150 or so and I explained (he knew this) that I didn't have the licensing to even buy one let alone get it into the states given it was once US property. He noted most were already sold to another government. This sort of thing happens a lot..

the opinions of anti gun activists are hardly worthwhile. I see no factual support for the claim it is "cheaper" The ATF has no ability to "trace" firearms from other countries that end up in foreign nations, nor does it have any jurisdictional power to do that. Military grade guns cannot be bought by private citizens in the USA and then sold to anyone in other countries. If the cartels are getting military grade rifles-it's from government actors

often dishonest things. Private citizens cannot buy any military grade rifle (in terms of stuff issued to militaries in the last 50 years) that was made after May 19, 1986. Ones made before that cost minimum 10,000 dollars and take over 6 months to obtain

Don't forget the federal sales tax, 100% ain't it? Pretty sure the license involves waiving some of your fourth amendment rights as well. No thanks.

What nonsense, of course they do! All they need is to know what weapons were used in crimes and were captured by law enforcement. The rest is simple math!

Oh, Dear God, of course it does!!! Ever heard of something called "international law" or "international agreements"? Obviously not!

Anyway.... don't bother. You know, I sometimes see folk on the right make good points. I have yet to see you make a single point that's even worthwhile. And I am now convinced that it's a waste of time expecting that you ever will

200 dollar tax stamp and the ATF can come an inspect the weapon without a warrant.
an unconstitutional law that needs to be eliminated

    YES!!!!!!!

But do feel free to assume that the numbers provided are a result of some world-wide conspiracy funded by George Soros and Bill Gates to take away your guns and make it easier to turn the whole population of the United States gay.

so you are captain in the El Salvadoran national police and your men take out a couple MS 13 hitmen. The hitmen are armed with AK 47s. What do yo do-call the American ATF to tell you that the AKs were made in Bulgaria or Hungary?

I SAID, " The Feds can't even keep track of their own guns".

Please reaserch "operation fast and furious" if you would like to discuss it. You don't want another beat down like last time.

Oh. No you said "trace firearms". My apologies.

Trace how? Like outline a gun on a sheet of paper?

do you any citation that the ATF should be spending American tax dollars to be doing what is essentially a domestic law enforcement function in a foreign nation. Maybe the IRS can help the Bahamas crack down on columbian drug cartels who maintain accounts in Nassau

Mad Mike Williamson made an AK with only hand tools. It worked fine.

A guy actually made an AK receiver from an old shovel. Ugly, but perfectly functional.

    Here this might help Golem
    https://www.atf.gov/firearms/docs/r...s-recovered-outside-us-and-traced-le/download

An analysis of international crime gun trace requests indicates that 11% (18,749) were attributable to firearms lawfully exported from the U.S. and later recovered in a foreign country. These recovered and traced crime guns represent less than 1% of the total (2,793,002) firearms lawfully exported out of the U.S. between 2016 and 2020
