I have a dry erase board on my refrigerator that I use for a shopping list. I need some shelving. A water filter. And some bonified energy bars for long treks into Colorado wilderness.

A question that I have thought and verbalized into the air space of my home, as an atheist, why does a deity not come down and write a message? A simple message like "Hey there you sexy beast" or a universal equation to describe all aspects of universal laws would suffice and be quite convincing. But instead I see "shelving", "water filter", "camping food". My dry erase board remains largely empty... and has been for the five years that I have used it.... except for my physics kick in which I wrote equations on the board.

Being that my actions are pre-determined and unavoidable, and that a deity worthy of being a deity realizes this, why am I expected to accept a text written by an ancient people, and full of errors and contradictions, and truth? Why am I expected to choose from a multitude silly and nonsensical religions on faith alone?

Why not just write on the board or send a text message? Facebook and email is a great way to get a hold of me too. Maybe a note on the door..?

I make no claims that a deity does not exist, I make the claim that there is no evidence to suggest that a deity exists. An agnostic atheist.

Look very carefully at the messages you wrote. Are they exactly as you wrote them? Remember, deities write in code.

My god... "Shelving to organize your (*)(*)(*)(*)" is code for "Jesus is real".

I find the lack of response concerning god's inability to manage a dry erase marker interesting.

Looks like you've been reading the wrong texts.

    - - - Updated - - -

People like you won't be satisfied 'till you see God with your own eyes. Funny how you mention ancient peoples, given that your demands are identical to those of the ancient peoples who scoffed at the idea of God:

I ask only the same privilege given to Moses. A burning bush which does not consume itself.

Or am I less important to God than Moses?

How about just a signed edition of the Bible - just to know that it really IS God's word. Not so much to ask.

My understanding is that God is super lazy these days. He created the heavens and Earth in seven days, but can't take 30 seconds out of his "busy" schedule to convince the worlds population of non believers that he's real.

I've generally noticed that three groups of people have a childish idea of God--children, fundamentalists and atheists. IMHO, that is the reason for their beliefs (except for kids who have some maturing to do, well maybe they all do......)

Moses was some atheist ordering his slave people around. You sure he was important?

Since I have an "in" with the Lord, I'll give him a prayer call and schedule a divine message for you.

Since there are many Wolverines, give me your home address and when you'll be away as "No man can see God and live," and leave the door unlocked as He is a gentleman and "Behold He stands at the door and knocks,"....dont know if you speak Aramaic, but will give you a 'pre-translation" of the message I, or I mean He, will leave: "Forget You," (making it forum friendly) He tends to leave profane messages to unbelievers just as He wrote in the sand with His finger back when and was censored in the scriptures.

You're welcome.... see you in church next Sunday, bro.......

God is Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient, he already knew that the appoint would be made before the existence of the universe as well as the exact location of the dry erase boards.

So far I just have a reminder to purchase shelving which I have been too cheap to acquire thus far.

You're right! He already left the message months ago but went back and erased it due to its profanity...

Who is forcing you to believe in God?

    You're an atheist, congratulations.

Shouldn't the conversation end at the point, or do you insist upon everyone not believing in God the way you do. How is that any different from someone wanting you to believe like them in a God.

You're essentially "preaching" your belief system are you not?

Just pointing out how silly it is to believe in a deity which is incapable of operating a dry erase marker.

There are many things unexplainable by Science. As an example...we have no idea what causes radioactive decay. Oh we know it is from an unstable atomic structure, but as the decay is both spontaneous and random...Science cannot explain why an individual atom suddenly decays, say for example in the case of electron capture.

Yet radioactive decay is very predictable in the big picture, we use Carbon 14 decay to date ancient artifacts precisely because a pattern emerges out of randomness...

    Science cannot explain this.

Whatever variables that cause decay are hidden to us.

could it be possible God is hidden to us also, yet we see the Universe...the big picture..a beautiful order emerging out of the chaos. I believe this is God's hand...you believe it just "is."

Both answers are equivalently void of a real explanation would you not agree, so why is one answer therefore better than another.

I believe in God, you believe in random chance.

God dont use white boards that are temporary, but permanent 'markers', per

    Proverbs: 2,3

2Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. 3Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.

Dont think your tablet is ready for writing on with His truth......??

Per the Parable of the Sower, seed only produces on 'prepared' ground to receive and nurture it. Methinks at your young age your heart needs some cultivating; i.e. hitting rock bottom, an NDE, etc. When you run out of yourself as it were .....remember, "It aint over til it's over!"
