Then what reason is there to have faith in your religion over, say, Islam, or even the Greek gods? How exactly can you argue for someone to believe in your religion over any other religion that is equal to yours, if all you have is faith? You either have to start arguing based on human reasoning and/or evidence, or you accept that if it's only a matter of faith and you have nothing over any other faith-based system.

The Bible is true because the Bible says it is true.

I guess no Christians have any good reasons why their religion should be chosen on faith over any others. Figures.

Jesus argued that Truth is the holy spirit that can save mankind if he will accept it, like America did when Rev Martin Luther King stood up for it to the bitter end.

    - - - Updated - - -

What the Bible says about Truth, being the messiah, seems logical since man thinks to survive and adapt to the facts-of-Life.

Uh, ok? I'm not sure how this answers my question. Why should any choose one religion over another when you simply rely on faith?

    Because circular reasoning is fun.

Islam copies off of Christianity and Judaism. The Greek gods deeded off the prayers of the people. Nobody prays to Greek gods anymore.

How exactly does this answer my question? Pretty sad that no Christian in this forum can give me a coherent, relevant answer, and almost no one is responding at all.

Or maybe its just not the answer you wanted.

You mentioned the Greek gods. Well doesn't the fact that no one worships them tell you something about those beliefs? Even by the time Christianity had came along, the people had lost a lot of interest in them anyway but couldn't find anything better to replace it.

Muhammad got his beliefs from either an Arian or Nestorian priest. The belief that Jesus only appeared to die on the cross and Judas died in his place is to contradict religious and secular history. It makes not sense for God to reveal his messiah and them come along though a prophet hundreds of years later just to tell them they got the story wrong.

It tells us they were unpopular, which has no bearing on the truth or falsity of the religion.

And they both copy from Babylonian and Sumeric mythos. Noah's Ark isn't exactly an original story. This does little to nothing to discredit Islam if they only metric for belief is faith.

This would indicate that they are powerless or dead; not that they never existed or that the Greek mythos has less grounds for belief than the Christian mythos.

What I wanted was an answer that made sense, but hardly anyone has responded with ANYthing.

So, you're using an appeal to popularity based on the evidence that no one worships those particular gods anymore. But if belief is simply based on faith, then using logic and evidence is irrelevant. Once you start dragging those things into the mix, Christianity gets destroyed along with the others, which is why Christians always reply with, "but you just have to have faith!" - Because evidence and logic is not in their favor. You can't have a double standard and use evidence/logic against other religions but not against Christianity.

See above. Stop bringing evidence and logic into a thread about faith.

If religious people could understand that they use circular reasoning, then they'd likely move on to a different belief system.

I am not christian, but I like a good challenge.

Arguing as you call it is actually "preaching". That is where a religious leader or spokesperson promotes their religion. I think it is asking a lot for you to expect a forum member to come up with a sermon merely for you to dissect and critique it.

Most christian sermons emphasize Gods perfection and love, and mans sinfulness. They also emphasize Jesus sacrifice and the forgiveness it symbolizes. It tends to strike a chord with people who are feeling a need for unconditional love. It offers a god who is willing to give it.

I think the burden of proof is more on the cynic in this case. I mean why should a christian choose to be another religion? Or even no religion at all?

What do the other options offer?

This is just a bad argument. The fact that a large number of people or a small number of people believe in a particular God is not proof of anything.

The fact that large number of people in todays world are Islam does not mean allah is God.

There are huge numbers of people that worship Hindoo Gods. This does not make them any better than the small number of folks that worship the Jewish God.

The fact that very few people worship the Greek Gods these days does not make them any less real than the Christian God.

It is true that folks lost interest in worship of the Greek Gods just as folks are losing interest in Christianity today.

The difference is that the Christianity was imposed on people by force and it could be the death penalty to worship the Greek Gods.

People today are leaving Christianity by choice .. not by the sword.

Giftedone seems pretty gifted...good points there.
Determining the most-correct belief system should be based on scientifically-based EVIDENCE, instead of just how popular it is, correct?

and Christianity copies off the religions that came before it as well, the new is often built on top of the old...

This is why I, as a Christian, am tolerant of other religions.

EDIT: I can only let my actions and works lead others to my faith. I don't desire to deepthroat them with my beliefs.

This is one of the silliest things I've read. Discussing religion is not preaching, and if it is, there are plenty of Christians "preaching" around this forum - they just don't have the ability to "preach" why faith in one religion is more compelling than any other. And since when did Christians around here not want to preach? That's half of the problem with the US - Christians constantly "preaching" their religion. But I'm asking people for answers. I don't know how that is an unreasonable request, especially in a forum for exactly that.

So, "cuz people like it?" Again, this thread is about faith - not about other silly reasons that could be used for other religions as well. You could say positive things about other religions, so again, why just Christianity on faith alone?

Huh? I get the feeling you have no idea what this thread is about.

And I appreciate that tolerance, But then it must be asked, should people really be punished for choosing to have faith in another religion or no religion at all? When you can offer no reason to choose your belief system over another, why should they be punished for that?

Of course religion is faith based. It always has, and until the flying spaghetti monster visits earth, it always will be.

In fact, many deists reject scientific facts that do not conform to their faith based narrative.

You can't argue with stupid, crazy or faith, it gets you nowhere.

The reason is that ONLY the New Testament claim that the son-of-God is Truth, and proposes that Truth is the savior if mankind.

America saw the Truth save the Nation when Rev Martin Luther King sacrificed his life in the name of Truth about real Civil Rights, while MalcolmX was starting a reign of terrorism in the inner cities that would have frozen the major centers of commerce and destroyed American democracy.

    Not true.

Previous to Modern Science the Truth was difficult to establish and maintain for everyone to "see."
But, with the advent of the Empirical Scientific Method, experiments can be repeated and everyone can "see" what is the Truth.

It is also now possible for other truths, like the injustice to women in some places, or the murders of dictators like Saddam, or other social :"crimes" like "Schools, Separate but Equal," etc to come to light and be recognized for what they are,... i.e.; lies.

Hence, Jesus "is the Truth, and the way" to go in both faith and knowledge.
