If PF Is Slow...

You know you can click your name (after welcome) then click "more" next to your friends and you can see which friends are online...

 

I don't think people will leave forever. At least for me, it would a temporary departure just because it's too frustrating. In my case, it's a matter of me buying a new computer that can handle the new forum. ---pete---

Falena didn't deserve that , although when I wrote it last night it seemed funnier than it is now . My fart.

People aren't leaving as much as their just not posting as much , maybe out at the BBQ & Ballgame .

 

I don't post as much because it takes 10 minutes to navigate around the site. It was bad before, but at least when it was 'down', it was down. Now it's just slow as hell. I'm also not crazy about the ugraded changes.

 

I'm still getting kicked-off with every other post ... sometimes every post and even before I post ...

 

As with most people, I have some reservations about the 'new' site, but they don't stop me posting here. It is still slow, but marginally less slow than the 'old' site, and I feel it is improving. I think we should be patient, but I acknowledge that I don't post as often as I used to because I don't have much free time, and when it is really slow, it is like it has frozen, so I give up. This will not stop me posting, as long as there are the excellent people I know still here.

Pretty much everything on the net runs fast for me but one website.

I get a few database errors but overall the speed is much improved. I am just sick of getting so many duplicate posts!

They prob can't stay logged on long enough to respond. I just sent a PM and had to do it 4 times in between getting knocked off... to get one to go thru.

Ridiculous. It's getting worse instead of better.

 

The site is nutty, it's like insane, so I can relate (ha...ahh?). I have a computer modem and sometimes its kind of fast but usually it drags, and as mak says when I reply and save sometimes it takes a while and sometimes two or three identical replies are posted. Sometimes a message comes up and informs me I was trying to leave the page, but I never touched nuthin! If I do not mash the right button I lose my post! But I have gotten smart and always ALWAYS copy the reply and paste it in notebook just in case. Haha ...well at least the avatar thing is fixed THANKS GUYS!

However the newest thing I want to know and its not a biggie is this; Do we get our donate gold bars back? I dont really care really...oh one more thing. Did I do something wrong to wipe out all my icons for quote insert pic well...everything! I have no tabs at the top of the text box...any ideas?

I think the performance of PF is improving (for me, at any rate). But it seems to be optimised for Internet Explorer, and I cannot access all the facilities with Firefox. Advanced mode (which I am using currently in IE) and the ability to edit, while composing a post, appears to be unavailable in Firefox. Could someone have a look at that? I don't like IE, but I will use it if I have no choice. Thanks!

 

Leo, advanced mode works just fine for me on FF. Seems to be random, just as anything else, and making it difficult to pin down the actual problem because of it.

 

Gosh Trin , I have no idea , honestly , with the rep board gone , there's no reason to posse-up , boots & saddles , etc , etc , it's prolly the main reason the rep board was deleted , it was just too much trouble to fool with . . .

just hazarding a guess , but would it be PF.com ? per chance ?

Nobody came right out and asked me to leave, HB. The exchg I referred to took place on this very thread... read from post 1 and judge for yourself.

Doesn't really matter anyway because I'm not planning to leave this forum -- I have friends here. I'll be sticking around to see the end result of this marathon 'update' and hoping like hell it won't be so boring when we get some features back. Right now, it's snoozeville around here.

same here, when it times out or when I have issues, I often get msg from server saying they are having trouble, to me it seems more db related

 

well , I sorta can read between the lines on the situation , one would think that a post made in the Forum Feedback & Help- section would be more graciously recieved . . . especially with regards to the 'missing features' . of which graphics is equally as important as restoring the rep board , ( with improvements to both ) , concerning graphics and the new PF format , it's gotten better in recent days , the speed is fine .

I'll prolly not post as much as I did in the Winter , just don't have the time like I did . . but I'm gonna stay around and see how the Re-Mod goes , I've got over $300.00 invested in donations to PF , and I'm gonna stay and see if our donation money was well spent or just wasted .

It's looking like the latter to a lot of folks , but as long as I see a little progress , I'll stick it out . .

What you said to Smarty should have been in a PM , not on an open forum . . she's earned that much respect . . .

and as far as liking PF , we all do , and I have over $300.00 invested in donations to PF to back that up , so before anyone gives me a arse-chewing , that $300.00 has bought me the right to gripe as much as I want , as much as it takes to make things right.

and if all the other donors would make themselves known , maybe we could make a differance , while there are still a few people left on PF that actually post & support the site.
