Tried to do this last night, and there were server issues, I believe. Anyway, eight names, all very diverse. Which one of them (you have to select one), do you think would be best placed to restore the US to where you think it should be? Please expand and explain your selection; I realise that some are not running, that doesn't matter, it is hypothetical. I realise that you may not be that familiar with some names - please take a few mins to read up, in that case. Thanks Jack
In truth I haven't read much of Chomsky (yet) but from what I've seen I agree with a lot of what I've seen and think he has very interesting ideas. I voted for him.
Bill Gates. Compassionate man. Experience in running large organizations in both the public and private sector. Exposure to the world outside the US. Moderate enough to form bipartisan coalitions. Understands the need to get more tax revenues and improve our schools.
Expand and explain, ok, briefly I believe the Executive branch of America needs someone with genuine integrity and strength of character, with some real political experience. Uncorruptable is what comes to mind. That person to me, above all the rest is Sarah Palin.
Me, too. No matter what you think of Palin personally, she's a patriot who'd do everything she could to restore this great country to it's potential. Bill Gates? Now that's funny. As much as the left hates big business, they'd hand over America to a geeky business mogul? I dont think so... running a foundation isn't a good enough reason... every rich person runs a foundation.
The idea of Palin ever being in a position in which she is, in essence, in charge of the vast nuclear arsenal of the US is one that should fill all but the most psychopathic with a sense of dread. Her supporters accuse opponents of 'trying to make her seem stupid'. She does that pretty well, all be herself, to my mind. She was a failure as a running mate for McCain, indeed, many feel that she actually did damage to his campaign. And I don't believe she would ever put herself up against Obama, in an election, as I think she knows that she would be roundly humiliated.
Yes, my choice as well. I would add that he resembles the American dream. The sky is the limit. Of course he too has faults.
Palin, hands down...her heart is pure and in the right place...180 degrees out of phase with the childish idealism, disingenuous victim pimping, vote buying entitlement schemes, hatred, and blatant lies our red diaper leftist scumbags wallow in.
everything she could? Not much. To restore the country to its potential? Meaning to make the country look more like she wants it to look. Neither of these works in her favor based on what I think of her. The whole "whatever you think of her" thing is ridiculous. It's like saying "Whatever you think of Charles Manson he'd use his natural charisma to make the world more like his vision of utopia." Aside from in conservative propaganda, the left doesn't hate business. And we like geeks.
Oh puh-lease... It's Fri. Been a long week. Spare me this her being 'pure of heart and intent' chat! Please.
Jack, if you were to research Sarah Palin with an unbiased overview, you would more than likely come to the same conclusion. I know that will not happen, as the tactical smear job done on her was exceptionally well done, which produced what often is produced via this particular talent of the left... is an obfuscation of fact.
Genuine question, and in your own words - in 2011, what IS the 'American Dream'? I am curious. Surely in a nation of so many, and such diversity, it is a myth to imply that there is one unified objective, that all share. Jack
Unless the Thread is bashing Christians or Jews & Israel or Conservatives & American Values ,then it's like a big yearly sale at Wal*mart when the doors open ...
Call it a tactical smear job if you like. I have been aware of this women for a few years. I have read about her, and I have listened to her. She sounds patronising, for one thing, with her sick inducing 'hockey mom' BS. And any time she opens her mouth, it is patently clear, even to the neutral listener, that she is really out of her depth unless; A) The interviewer is Glenn Beck fawning all over her, and asking gentle questions. B) She is asked to speak about anything that cannot be answered by her rhetoric. And there is no getting away from the fact that she was one half of a team that lost to Obama. And I don't think she would put herself up for election, because, for all she seems to have support, all US respected polls show her popularity to be like nothing close enough to ever get elected.
You are American. I am not. Hence why I ask you, in 2011, in a diverse nation, what does it really mean?
You asked, and now you're going to criticize and discredit my opinion? Well, then....choke on your (*)(*)(*)(*)ing poll.
