Right, and the same would be true if a person wanted to be CURED of monosexuality.

That's another interesting issue......why be male or female? Not everyone is .

Do you believe hetrophobes can be cured?

Do you believe homosexuals have a right to seek a cure without judgement?

Indeed it would or should be their business. Moreover, it is not for us to second guess as to "why" they would seek to find a therapy for their homosexuality, that is out of our zone.

They could have all kinds of reasons why they would prefer to be hetrosexual or even asexual. It is not our role to second guess the specifics, merely to fairly and humanely ensure that this sort of therapy is there for them, if they so wish it.

Just as people don't second guess the specifics of why a given person born a man wants a sex change, but they do, that is what we do know.

Do you think a poor person in Sweden, in PRACTICE, would be legally equal (sic) to a rich politician that played golf with the judges every weekend?

So let me get this right.

If an adult homosexual, for whatever personal reasons, wanted to seek therapy to either be hetrosexual or asexual, remembering that no therapy is an absolute guarantee to work with ANYTHING, you would ignore what they wanted and go against that by attempting to make up their mind what is best for them.

    And you call that freedom?

    Correct.

It is clearly bigoted elitism that a Jew cannot marry a non Jew.

Just as Jews would regard it as such if the US or Europe said that a non Jew could not marry a Jew.

Consistency is the key, with no caveats.

What if a lesbian or gay wanted to try to be bisexual? Would that be okay, too, or should this just be an either/or?

I believe person should be allowed the FREEDOM to do as they choose specific to their sexuality.

If they want to go to therapy....that is their choice and right....as well is their right to decide their sexuality.

What about if they did? What does that have to do with the right for a homosexual to get therapy if he, for his own reasons, wishes to do that?

    - - - Updated - - -

    Absolutely fair enough.

    Now.

How do you honestly think the "tolerant" homosexual groups would react if it got out that a therapist was offering this sort of therapy?

I support straight marriage, gay marriage, polygamy, polygyny and polyandry.

If I don't support other forms of marriage (like human-animal), I don't think that I'm a hypocrite. We all have the right to draw the line somewhere.

The Extremist Gay Activists would have a hissy fit.

But the vast majority of Gay's are moderate American's and would probably be more interested in the weather report than a report such as this.

    What lie?

You should stop accusing people of that unless you can qualify it and prove they are lying.

    - - - Updated - - -

    But why?

    What about diversity and tolerance?

And who do you specifically regard as the "Extremist Gay Activists ...."?

There are lots of laws regarding marriage. So, saying it is between a man and a woman is but one of them. Can't we leave SOME tradition alone?

Marriage has laws regarding age, relation to individual marrying (no brothers & sisters, your parent, your child, your dog, your cat, etc.), no more than one spouse at a time, etc. So the law regarding one man and one woman is hardly the only regulation.

Perhaps the concept of a "civil union" can be brought back, instead of marriage. I bear no ill feelings toward people who are gay, but I don't consider their relationships as the equivalent of traditional marriage. I guess it's another thing that can be shoved upon us, but, other than legally, it will not be respected by many of us.

You "don't consider their relationships as the equivalent of traditional marriage" That's because you can't fathom that two people of the same sex can love each other in the same manner as a heterosexual couple. As far as civil unions go......The issue of Civil Unions keeps coming up, and it’s most often in the context of “ I support full rights for gays but they should not be able to call it marriage” and “Civil Unions are the same thing, why all the fuss ?” Why all the fuss indeed? First of all there is much in words, especially such a powerful, universally understood word as marriage. A word conveys a status, it means that people who that word applies to have certain rights that others may not have. “Citizen” or Citizenship is another such word. What if the law of the land was, that while all those born on American soil were citizens and all had the same rights and protections, first generation American’s could not actually call themselves “Citizens.” Perhaps they could be called “Permanent Civil Residents” Does anyone think that these people would actually feel like real citizens who are full accepted by society? How long would it be before these people got sick of explaining what a “Permanent Civil Resident” is. It would be especially difficult when dealing with people from other countries, or travelling abroad where everyone is just a “citizen” They would have to explain their status every time they applied for a job, applied for a passport, or renewed a drivers license. They would be sure to encounter people who were ignorant of the term, or perhaps looking for a reason to stand in their way and deny them their rights. Get the point?

Secondly, jurisdictions where civil unions exist do not always provide full equality. Now you will say that can be remedied by legislation. Well, I’m here to tell that is not so easy. A few years ago, the New Jersey Supreme Court mandated that Civil Unionized people have all of the same rights as married people. However, the reality is a different thing” http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/28/nyregion/28civil.html

And you might also want to read http://www.gardenstateequality.org/issues/civilunions/

In addition, under federal law, the disparity is even greater, especially now that DOMA has been overturned but couples who are restricted to civil unions do not benefit from that http://www.now.org/issues/marriage/marriage_unions.html

Lastly, I don’t believe for a nanosecond that those who claim that they support equal rights for gays but not marriage actually want and support equality. They are threatened by the idea of gays being able to call their unions “marriage” because if they did , THEN they would ACTUALLY be equal. All of the hoopla about the word is based on that fear. They must defend at all costs the great and stable institution of traditional marriage where the median age for a woman’s pregnancy is now lower that the median age of marriage and where half of these traditional unions end in divorce. Please consider the possibility that redefining marriage may actually strengthen the institution with an influx of stable relationships , and committed partners. Please consider that married same sex couples will simply blend in and become part of the social fabric. ________________________________________________________________________________

I think we should live and let live. I may not agree with it. But I feel it isn't any of my business how other people live their lives.

Sorry, marriage is a long standing tradition between a man and a woman. For me, it doesn't fall under the concept of "equal rights." You can still get married - just not to a person of the same sex. I consider it no different than the other laws regarding marriage. I am mostly libertarian about how people live their lives. I am not going to feel differently about this. Yes, politicians can force it upon us. They do a lot of things that don't represent me.

Being an Alpha Male I will admit I do not enjoy watching two Gay Men acting as a playful couple in public but that is my hangup.

The thing is....even though I don't enjoy this....I would never want to prevent two consulting adults of any sex to enjoy life together and that means allowing Gay Marriage.

I also have to admit being an Alpha Male I have NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER....watching two beautiful lesbian women being playful as a loving couple in public. So it is all a matter of personal preference.

Just because you or I do not like something....doesn't mean it should be illegal if it is a right enjoyed by Hetero Couples.

No he is no hypocrite ,welcome to the LGBTI political paradigm .

"What I cannot and probably will not understand, is when I read a homosexual guy today being asked the same question and he very speedily said that he would not at all be supportive of any moves to legalise it"

The LGBTI Community ,in no way speaks for any Homosexual ,they may think they do but NO!

Lesbian ,Gay ,Bisexual ,Transexual ,Intersex Community ,or Anti-science Movement !

Trades on the confusion ,but homosexuals ,or Normal humans all hate Marriage ,nothing has changed ,except for the Political Provocation and extreme Right-wing radical LGBTI getting a hearing in National Politics ,who elects these people ,"Spokes person's " for the "Commmmunniity".

PS ,All humans are Naturally Polygamous !

Its a Human nature thing on a Species level !

Actually...every scientific study has shown that Human Males...are Genetically Disposed to have sex with as many females as possible to ensure the survival of the species.

sure! if they're dumb enough to get married, what does it matter who (or how many) they're getting married to?

the State needs to get out of the business altogether.

    Spot on :applause:

However, for at least half a century the US have been brainwashed in all manner of ways with cultural Marxism, and this demands that everything that is traditional, good, natural or was working just fine, be criticised into oblivion, before replacing it with a new set on non value values...
