Speak for yourself Clint. There is a huge College Rugby culture in America, and it is growing fast. I had the pleasure of playing for four years while in school. I will hopefully be joining a mens league soon if I can find the time. Obviously it is not as big as most of the sports you mentioned, but given time it may get there.

The USA has an official Rugby team. I'm not to sure about cricket though.

Actually the US has a very healthy team, considering how comercially small the sport is for you.

Gave England a real scare in the 2007 WC as I remember and Eng went on to the final.

Cricket is probably, no...it's definitely the most boring sport ever invented by man.

It makes baseball look like drag racing...frankly cricket, the most "British" of sports...is only played in countries formally colonized by Britain..and as we
Americans threw the British out on their proverbial arses...we do not care about cricket.

Rugby, on the other hand, has a small but rampant following in America.

    Cricket?

    Good God, no...it's LAME.

Well done! Y0u must be South African.... right? I mean, with your little attitude there, your nation must have beaten Eng in that final.... right buddy?

    Though not ;)

That's no problams. England and France are by far the most successful NH WC teams, with England being the only NH team ever to have won the title, and it was an away competition (in Australia) ;).

I'm in no dilusion about the current state of English rugby, I was disgusted by the display on Sat and Lancaster needs to come away with a win this WE against the Bokke. I find this extremely unlikely and will no doubt have to endure 2 hours of (*)(*)(*)(*) take in the pub at the hands of a Saffer mate and Kiwi mate.

Still, it's all good fun and taking it on the chin when your nation loses is part and parcel. Just so long as they wear white this time ;).

Again you'd be better responding to points posted, than crap you made up yourself. But if you want to avoid, by all means.

The global "we" of the practised bully. NB, I was not the first poster to mock England's sad display, but don't see you attempting to bully the Mod who did.

Why don't you let people get back to enjoying the rugby discussion in the thread...at whatever level of interest they choose to display.

    Your points so far:

    1. Scotland lost but I don't care so long as Eng lost.
    2. USA rugby shouldn't be discussed, we don't care.
    3. I have some kind of childish grudge against the English, for the actions taken by Englishmen and women 100's of years ago.
    4. Waaaaaah, I'm being bullied because when I snipe at the English, they snipe back.

Yes Viv, it's been interesting reading...

    Get a grip of yourself.

From experience, cricket is a better game to play than watch and it has a very nice social aspect on a summer's day.

I can't stand cricket on tv, but my siblings love it and watch it for hours. Of course, they watch golf for hours as well, which is like watching paint dry to me.

Rugby is great to watch. Even if you are not interested in the technicalities, it's an exciting game.

US is a country formerly colonised by UK btw.

The first part is inaccurate. Scotland lost but played extremely well against the best two teams there are IHMO and no one could be anything but very pleased with their performances (being Scottish realist with no delusions of grandeur).

England lost...certainly did cheer me up and I thought your plan was to take it on the chin. (righto)

You missed the point as usual. The USA poster was equating international to USA involvement. My point was that rugby already is an international game, USA and the money machine are not really what rugby mentality is about and it's probably a better game for that.

Already mentioned that is your assumption, not at all what was posted.

That is never going to happen. Just pointing it out in case anyone missed it.

    Try to comprehend whilst "reading".

You get a grip of yourself. Avoidance is your only debate technique. It's completely tedious. But then the English do tend to talk a good game, particularly while playing a poor one.

The simple fact that you're taking the time to split up my post to respond illustrates how much you "care" about this... I can't say I do so much, but then again England aren't languishing in 10th spot.

For your information, on my first post in this thread I complimented Scotlands positive play in opting for the corner and not the posts in the AB game. It shows confidence and positivity in the team.

But lets be clear, I was not "incorrect" in saying that you lost. You did and England also lost last WE, we can be "plucky" all we like, but "pluck" does not win games.

Regarding England talking a good game and not playing one, do I really need to post the IRB world rankings again? Do you understand how the points system works?

You gain more points for winning away and beating teams more highly ranked than you. You exchange points with the team you play, so while you can bleat on about England not playing a good game, the IRB rankings do not lie, they are designed to reflect reality.

And do you notice about all these posts, it is you, yes you, bringing England up and posting little youtube clips up (my chippy response to which seemed to kick you off into this low level pettiness). I on the other hand have been rather complimentary to the Scottish team, but that underlying and rather idiotic feeling of dislike towards the Englsih, which bubbles beneath the surface with you was easy to expose.

Now, Scotland play Tonga this WE, a team that for your sake I hope you turn over. I'll be chearing the Scots on, as unlike you I do not associate the Scottish team (a number of whom play in England) with people like you. Nonetheless, Scotland will take few if any points from a win.

England will play SA, a game I shudder at the thought of... But at least we stand a chance at taking some points, as unlikely as it is.

It's customary with people who will actually debate and don't use avoidance and bullying...to split posts and respond to them point by point.

Anyone who watched the games is aware they gave it a very respectable go, which did not at any time involve languishing.

    Lol...

I can't say I noticed your first post, but their style of play is very encouraging and I detected a leader emerging but won't sully his name by mentioning it to you. Thank you for pointing out what nonsense your previous "languishing" comment is. Good to see you contradicted that nonsense.

Certainly doesn't, no matter how much certain people try to spin it in that notoriously cringeworthy way.

I do and did, but it's been entertaining reading as that hole gets deeper and deeper.

The reality that the team 3/4 from you is not really going to be on a very dissimilar footing, unless you look at the vast gap between the top three and "the rest".

Hahhh...I feel another blast coming on.

    Dry your eyes mate.

That is forever tied in my mind with the legendary soccer game where France knocked England out in the dying minutes. Vive Zidaine. Oh and Maradonna.

Of course, do excuse me, I fully understand you are obligated to show the pleb proletariat how to properly behave at all times and we, the lower class (i.e. not English people) must emulate you if we ever want to get to Heaven.

I don't believe in Heaven and I don't believe you.

I do associate England with people like you, but there are some really decent types as well. Tonga, can't see us losing to them but as mentioned earlier in the thread it's an inconsistent team and Scotland always is unpredictable, beating teams they're supposed to lose to and losing to teams they should tank. Exciting and irritating both.

If they beat SA, I'm done with rugby for good.

Tears of laughter mate, tears of laughter. Although I was hoping for more of a rise out of you than that, you let me down.

Oh you and me both. But they'll lose to teams more highly ranked than them - a small mercy.

England in their last game had 215 international caps, a typical top 5 IRB ranked team will have 600+. I seem a lot of promise coming through the ranks with England atm, sure I'm pissed off that they didn't beat Australia (if they'd had a bit more cop on, they'd have taken their penalties and potentially done so), but this is international naivity pure and simple. The captain needs to realise that this is not Quins in the AP, that they need to take points that come up.

But strength in depth is appearing and Lancaster is not shy of giving uncapped players a game and a chance to prove themselves. Come the 6N, we we have a better idea, but lets not forget that last 6N they came 2nd, with about 240 international caps between them.

I'm still more confused that you take more pleasure of another team losing than your own team winning. I can only hope that the Scottish team does not have this national trait.
