I imagine they would choose to make them heterosexual. I don't see the problem.

It's Biology. It always has been. If you understood Biology and the science in this area, being gay is not a choice.

From the beginning, there is a developing brain that aligns with the actual fetus, where most of the time, that brain decides the sex. Except for one thing. Not always is the brain able to make that decision. That is the nature of the brain. And this is where Homosexuality and Bisexuality come into play, when the human being is born. The brain is still confused. Simple enough to understand and accept, except there are those in the world who's brains would rather not work by rejecting that science and that conclusion. Instead of using a perfectly well formed brain by putting it to good use they choose hate over something that is fairly easy to understand.

Some born gay, some choose it, some are traumatized into it, some are gay and then they're straight, some are straight and then they're gay.

It's complicated, and one size does NOT fit all.

Many straight people behave in a fashion that might cause them to be perceived as gay.

    People are different.

    Yup.

Some born that way, some become that way.

All kinds of variations; sneaky nature is sneaky. :)

The waist to hip ratio preference is NOT universal/global, no.

Some like them skinny, some like them fat, some like them bareheaded, some in a hat.

    People.

    Are.

    Different.

Maybe, maybe not. (People are different.)

But genetic engineering - in this example and many others - is a HUGE ethical problem.

    Depends on the person.

Some may be born, some may be made, some a little of both, or a lot.

    Depends on the person.

    :)

19 is about when it would show up, and it often doesn't skip a generation.

Take care, and remember it's part of the human condition, and not a source of shame. :)

Many brilliant people (including many I know) demonstrate various forms of non-standard perception, thinking and behavior. :handshake:

Some good points, but ultimately, who knows?

    People are strange.

    This is the research I found, because I never bought into the idea, that Homosexuality was a choice. The answer begins and ends with the brain;
t's Biology. It always has been. If you understood Biology and the science in this area, being gay is not a choice.

From the beginning, there is a developing brain that aligns with the actual fetus, where most of the time, that brain decides the sex. Except for one thing. Celebrate your life and whoever you love.

Well yeah I'd say genetic engineering holds a vast array of ethical problems and evolutionary ones. We don't know all of the traits that will be effected.

It's not the person. It's all about the mixed signals that sometimes arises with the brain, "in the person".

As with the gay thing, there may or may not be a genetic basis for all of the associated behaviors.

But again, studies are in their infancy (though far ahead of sex/gender/preference studies), so varying forms of psychological dislocation may have greater or lesser genetic components.

My personal observation indicates a strong genetic basis for much schizophrenia.

Well I'm no expert in biology. So I'll give that to the experts.

Some choose it, some have it chosen for them, some are born into it, some are a combo pack.

And some folks are just plain asexual.

It's all a big ol' spectrum influenced by all manner of things, including (perhaps/probably) genetics. :)

    Who can say?

Kinda tough to separate the person from the brain w/o causing some distress.

    And who knows why?

Some people are more so, some are less so - it's a big ol' smorgasbord.

Nature, zhe likes some diversity! :)
