They would not be doing a Masonic handshake if they were not Masons anyway. If they have ever been Masons, there should be a record of it rather then someone's conjecture.

That does make sense. It "appears" to be a masonic handshake to the uninitiated person like myself, but it's probably the skull & bones handshake of a bonesman which is very closely related to the templers and masons.

If skull & bones is not masonic, why does it have a lodge number? (322)

i pretty much see masons as magicians and wizards.

the secrecy of masonry leads many people to believe they are nefarious.

why hide in the shadows if the idea is to illuminate?

Having a number associated with them doesn't make it a "Lodge number". You'd have to ask them the specifics behind 322 though.

Well, I've been called worse. :giggle:

Our secrecy is nothing more than privacy. We're not so secret you can find our buildings and when we meet. We also have tons of websites out there with our pictures. Many wear a ring or some kind of clothing with Masonic symbols on it.

Against, popular paranoia, meeting in private doesn't constitute darkness. Our halls are fairly well lit.

    I can understand that.

at first i thought all masons might be evil or something, but as i have learned more it seems many or most are good or have good intentions.

however i get the sense that not all masons are good and some factions or individuals may have done bad things.

but you can say that about just about any demographic so is it really intrinsic to masonry?

That handshake is not even similar to a Masonic handshake. It is vaguely similar to a handshake of a person learning to become a Mason. But then, how many different handshakes can be quickly done?

    What are templers?

The "Knights Templer" refers to advanced degree status(Commandery) of the York Rite which as you know is an arm of Masonry.

The question was, What are templers?

I know what Knights Templar are, I've been one for over 40 years.

Of course Romney's not "one of us."

And that's OK. It's OK that he's rich. Bush, Kennedy and FDR came from rich families. There's nothing wrong with being rich.

The problem is that he keeps pretending to be "one of us." No matter what "us" he happens to be with at any given moment.

It's what makes him seem just a little weird.

Here's an interesting site. If you scroll down there is a drawing that illustrates the various masonic handshakes. Simialar info is all over the internet and coorelates to what I learned back in the 1990's before the internet existed as we know it today.

    http://www.fatimamovement.com/016a_The_Mark_On_The_Right_Hand.htm

The video that pops up on the same website is attempting to expose many of the secrets of freemasonry, but only those who have studied freemasonry, the various other similar secret organizations, and their history can begin to understand what is being presented. I would venture to say that many freemasons don't fully understand what is being presented in that video.

Me too. I did my First Degree in 1976. I did my Second and Third 33 years later at the age of 62. I'm now 65 with 3 yrs as a MM, but 36 years as a Mason I guess.

It took me a long time to learn to subdue my passions.

Getting? I'm past the high side of 70. Feel like I'm 30, look like I'm prehistoric!!!!!

Actually I barely have a wrinkle, and my FULL HEAD OF HAIR, is mine and is not very grey or touched up. My son, 50, is very grey, but its there. That's the nature of our line, every other generation goes grey, but the hair is always there.

I still have my hair, which is nearly white. My son, 36, has peppered gray. Many men in our family are bald, but I guess my genes for that came from my mother's side.

I did get some bad genes for heart and diabetes. Will have a heart cath next week, probably need some stents. I had triple by pass 12 yrs ago and 1 stent 5 yrs ago. Oh well, you can't have everything.

It's amazing how you can read on the internet how various "experts" talk about certain presidents and celebrities that are or have been Masons. Some of the accusations about Masons being cultists or satanists are sort of amazing also.

It's obvious to those of in the know that these "experts" are pulling 99% of their information out of their gluteus!

I saw a documentary yesterday called "Secret History of the Freemasons..."

I went into it thinking, "Oh, here we go..."

    But, it was interesting...

The most interesting thing, I thought, was how in the first hour and a half they essentially "hyped" all these conspiracy theories that people hold about the Freemasons, then, with 20 minutes left, proceeded to, very neatly, shoot them all down, showing why they were BS...

    I enjoyed it...
