The thing is that it doesn't. It stated God create everything, but how God create everything the Genesis didn't state in detail. Evolution can be part of God's creating pocess. God could created evolution too. The only thing that Genesis stated clearly that didn't go through the pocess of evolution is the creation of human. Because human is created directly followed the image of God.

I don't know of any other books that have undertaken that particular aim, though I think you may want to factor in the accuracy of such a book's claims.

The Bible betrays a flat-earth cosmology all over the place, but thanks to poor translation and creative reinterpretation, people pretend all sorts of things about it now.

This is very interesting!! Is there any references I can read about it? I know China is clearly stated in Revelation and probably India too, both countries are in the East actually. However, Chinese's origin merely mentioned in the Bible, it's not easy to find.

I totally agree. But people discredit Bible just because of the poor translation and mis-understanding for years.

People even blame the European backwardness in the dark age on the Bible, but in fact, it was human's own fault that they are not smart enough to understand the truth meaning of the Bible.

Bible in fact is a very advance and scientific book. It mentions aliens, advance flying craft, nuclear power blast, spiritual being tranform into physical bodies....etc.

I think you misunderstood me. The people writing the Bible believed the Earth to be a flat disc with a solid metallic dome of a sky that literally separated "waters below" from "waters above." It's not often really explicit in stating this, but it is quite apparent in a number of places.

"Circle of the Earth" for one. The specific Hebrew word used is the one that means Circle as in "a round 2-D flat shape". There is a Hebrew word for Ball/Sphere but that word is not used.

There is also the mountain from which all the nations of the world can be seen. That would only be possible with a flat earth.

    I did mis-understand you then.

I will tell you this, I think it is the lauguage problem. In Chinese Bible, there are at least one scripture mentioned the earth is round. But when I go to the English Bible, the round earth disappear even they are the same scripture just in different languages.

And Chinese Christians really have no problem knowing the earth is not 6000 years old when reading that "thousand years " figure of speech. But when the English speaking people read their English Bible, they translated it literally and think it is 6000 years old.

I don't know why such different understanding of the Bible, I only guess that's the language problem. Hebrew, Greek, Latin are ancient languages, same as Chinese, I guess they are all anicent language, that may help translate better than English.

    All just my guess.

If a Chinese Bible claims that the Earth is a sphere, then I guarantee you it's an inaccurate translation of the original Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek scripture.

It was an age long before science. The people were steeped in ignorance and superstition. Out of that came religions and religious texts such as these.

    Um.... no.

No where does it say that man was directly created in the image of god. Human evolution is a scientific fact and does not contradict Genesis.

This is in reply to 4Horsemen and his inquiry/doubting of what I stated gestern (yesterday). In 2Peter as well as in Holy Qur'an Sharrief, it states, "A day with your Lord is as one thousand years as you reckon." Now, I stated that yes, the world was made in 6 days. If you calculate using the formula found in both Holy Qur'an and Bible, one (1) day equals one thousand (1,000) years, so the world, not the Earth was made in six thousand (6,000) years. By world, I am talking about the predominate culture(s) that are on the Earth today. Now, here is where you need to pay close attention to what I state. On this planet we have history cycles which last 50,000 years and history cycles which last 25,000 years. The 50,000 years cycle is for a universal change, meaning a change that will impact all who are on this planet at the time. The 25,000 year cycles are the usual cycles which are predicted events that will take place. Right now, we are at the end of both types of cycles which always coincide being that two of the shorter term cycles equals one universal cycle. This is what all of the prophets of both Holy Qur'an and Bible warned and predicted to those who were their followers or adherents.
If you read Genesis as well as what prophet Isa stated, you comprehend that all of what you see in front of you will pass away and a new Heaven and a new Earth will be established. I must clarify for those who are not in touch with how situations operate on this planet (Earth). Heaven is the predominate spiritual teaching, school of thought which outlines what people know as divinity and righteousness. All of the current schools are to be done away with being that people have perverted and contaminated what is right/exact/correct spiritual thinking. Earth in this instance are the customs, culture(s) and accepted behaviors enacted through people. Thus too has to be done away with because what is accepted in this world is not what is accepted in a world of righteousness and peace.

Also, Musa and the other prophets told the predominate peoples of this world that this/their world would eventually end because it was only promised 6,000 years of existence, which is true. See, the last battle which is being acted out as we speak is this world's rulers fighting to keep their world here when they know that it must be vanquished, along with them and those who adhere to their ways of thinking and acting. This world is the absolute opposite of any world that has ever existed upon the face of our planet and I am happy to see it disappear from the face of this Earth forever. The father of this world constructed it to be the opposing force to the way of The Originator/Creator and he was given a short period of time for it to exist.
Bt the way, the father of this world is the one who came from Teman and the Mahdi/Christ/Al-Khalifah is the one from Mount Paran. See, the prophets knew of this day and so do the rulers of this world.
Take it or let it alone.

Any of the Christians in the thread want to take a swipe at apologetics for my arguments about "Circle of the Earth" or the Mountain?

You may be right. I don't know eoungh Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek to agree or disagree with you. You may say the Chinese translation is inaccurate, but it turns out more closer to the truth, how come?

    Isaiah 40:22
"It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in"

The word "Circle" is used there, both in translations and in the original Hebrew. The Hebrew word is the one that means "a flat round 2-D shape". There is a Hebrew word for "ball or sphere" but that word is specifically not used. It implies a flat Earth.

There is also an incident in the Gospels where Jesus was taken to a mountain from which all the nations of the Earth can be seen. That would only be possible if the world is flat.

Plain and simple, the Bible (falsely) promotes a flat Earth view.

My Goodness!!! YOu found it. This is one of the scripture that I was talking about!

Look, the Bible talked about the earth is round very clearly, it is just the people in the old days were so into the idea of flat earth of their own, that they simply ignore this scripture. It is a total fault on human's part, not the Bible.

I also remember a scripture talked about the earth is hanging in the air or staying in air on its own. I am still looking for that scripture. It was too long ago when I come across that scripture.
Anyhow, Thanks a lot for showing me this.

Circle is circle. Never heard about flat circle, if it is flat, then it is not circle, if it is circle, it is not flat. The point here is that the earth is not square as people used to think, it is a CIRCLE, and Bible stated CLERALY!!!!

Today's world map is flat too, it shows all the continents, but doesn't mean the earth is flat.

Look at Questerr's post, in Isaiah 40:22
"It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in"

The Bible mentioned the earth is circle!!! It is not only in Chinese Bible, also in English Bible too. My memory must served me wrong. Honestly I don't read Bible in English that much, while I do enjoy reading English articles, news, books, but the English Bible is complete different thing to me, the thou, thee, and the strange arrangement of the sentence drive me crazy.

The point here is that it is people's ignorance, supersition and lack of knowledge of science that make them mis-translate and mis-understanding the Bible. It is not Bible's fault that they thought the earth was square or supported by a hugh elephant, it is not Bible and believing God make them backward, in fact, in that foolish period, the Bible still stated the earth is round only prove one thing----The Bible is the words of God, the record of history of the creation of our universe and human from our creator.

So when God "formed man from the clay" and "breathed life into his nostrils," that wasn't a special creation? Tricky text..

A circle is not a sphere - the Bible described the Earth as a flat circle "fixed" and "immovable", and it envisaged the sky as a dome. If you bear this in mind, the story of the Tower of Babel will also make a lot more sense. It's about people trying to build a tower so high that it could reach that dome. Little did they know that in reality, such a high tower would only find a rapidly thinning atmosphere, and that's assuming that it could reach such a height before collapsing under its own weight.
