When we visited the street where my wife grew up in Massachusetts, a neighbor across the street had a yard sign that read, “No one is “illegal.” Do you agree with this statement? .
Are all of you afraid to answer this question? I’ll start. I see we have me and one globalist. Bravo to the globalist who had the courage to vote their position.
If there were no laws regarding migration to this country, it would be true. But there are. Just like most all countries. If they are here illegally they need to be expelled. You do not defile the laws of a nation as your first action!
s You do what is necessary to survive. There is no reason not to let someone come here who means us no harm but purest bigotry and the people who betray it do themselves no credit.
I support My thread is intended to ask the question, should the United States have defined and enforced borders which control the people who enter this country and further control the numbers who get to remain here? Currently we have an open border. Anyone who can make their way across it is allowed to stay and get on welfare. That is an unworkable system because it is totally unfair to taxpayers and U.S. citizens. You can't have an open border and a welfare state. No country in the world has that, and no country can survive such a system. There are people who are "illegal." They have no right to stay here, and they have no right to collect state sponsored benefits. They should be deported. We need to vet the people who come to this country. Criminals and terrorists are not welcome. Furthermore we need to limit the sheer numbers of people who stay here. We can't afford to put the world on welfare. People who come here to work on specific jobs should get green cards, but they do not have to right to vote. A limited number of people should be allowed to immigrate, but the system needs to keep their numbers under control. People need to become naturalized citizens before they have the rights of citizens. If the current system is unfair and too expensive, then we need to reform it. But we also need to build a wall and control immigration. That fact that you have been born does not make you a U.S. citizen.
There are illegals who are a danger, murders etc. but I know we need workers, the entire system needs to improve
The sign was probably referring to the argument that ACTIONS are illegal, whereas people aren't. It's a linguistic thing and a catch phrase among those who want immigration reform. When our country was founded, and for most of its history, we basically had open borders when it came to immigration. I favor things like criminal background checks, but that's about it. if someone wants to come here and work and there are people here who want to hire them, the burden should be on those saying "No, you can't come here" to provide a rational argument. It's the same way I approach speech and guns: the presumption should be on the side of liberty and those who want to restrict liberty need to provide a good reason why.
Could I use your theory on your own personal assets then? I claim them then, because, I intend you no harm.... Does that work for you?
For the most part, they aren't eligible for state sponsored benefits. And I see no reason why we should arbitrarily put a cap on the number of immigrants.
I look forward to AU responding. If I can simply claim that I intend you no hard, and take your resources, and that isn't illegal... well, that's quite a thing. It is, generally, a very socialist/marxist view of the world.
I'll also throw this out there since most of the people I talk to on the other side of this issue are woefully unaware of how broken our immigration system is. My wife moved here when she was 8. It took her over 20 years to get a green card. That's with no criminal record, a PhD in Biology, and actively working on cancer research.
Then I guess this country is founded on your marxist/socialist view of the world. Since up until 60 or 70 yrs ago, we had no real immigration policy. We used to invite anyone who wanted to work and live. Even gave many free land.
Yep. For most of our ancestors, and I'll bet most of @drluggit 's ancestors, moving here legally consisted of nothing more than stepping off of the boat or over the border.
You learn to survive in the nation you were born! You collectively take back your country. You do not defile others! South Americans as well as Mexico have a history of cowering before Cartels and dictators. They should have gotten a lesson from our own Spirit of 1776.....but they didn't. Instead they want to break our laws, absorb our entitlements and break us down to the least common denominator! That is the goal of the "globalist elite". Not saying we shouldn't encourage them and even aid them in their quest for liberty! But we have our own country to maintain. You use bigotry and racism as words to divide and conquer. They are just words. The GOP is getting more and more support from brown skinned Americans that understand your goals. They put America 1st and I know plenty of them!
We get a lot of Americans off Meth, Fentynol, and welfare.......there are your workers. Perhaps for every proven worker we give citizenship, we deport one leech! We abort our work force!
Oh but I am a native American. Did you think I was born somewhere else? Actually, my ancestors were here in 1690. How far back do you think I need to go? We have laws. Why do you want others to crap on them? Other nations do as well. Where is your utopia?
I'll bet your glad your ancestors from 1690 didn't follow the advice you are giving now. That's my point.
Actually, the entire family, on a boat from Scotland was turned away from Boston Harbor due to small pox on the boat. They were effectively turned away and became some of the 1st settlers in New Hampshire. Do you deny Ellis Island and the quarantine that was in place there for years? So you seem to deny we are a nation of laws. Like our rogue regime, you seem to want to do what makes you "feel good". Are you a globalist?
Didn't know this Continent had established boundary's and established laws. It seems it was unsettled land. If not....could you provide a map of what tribes owned what and their precise boundaries? I know my great x 5 grandfather was kidnapped by the Abernaki Indians and was returned for a ransom of trinkets, but he was not expelled by a court of law. Scotland has fixed their own problems with surrounding Nations. Can you enter that Nation without a Visa? Explain.
