I have not been here for long, but everything I have seen so far leads me to believe that it is. The FAQ itself makes it clear that admin try to stay as neutral as possible. As a (true) left-winger I've got to respect that. Difficult to find a voice anywhere these days. Thoughts or experiences?
I don't think that can be true. If this site had a far right bias your 9/11 threads would never see the light of day.
Yeah, I'm getting a really good vibe here. Wasn't sure at first, with the delay in posting, but it was worth the wait.
I guess you're unaware of the key 'players' who patrol the 9/11 forum? Read the actual content there, and get back to me. - - - Updated - - - PM me if you want details other than I'm 'allowed' to present here in an 'open' forum.
I agree. Ive received warnings and in each case I deserved it. I think the lefties think its unbalanced because lefties tend to make more personal attacks against individuals and thats gonna get you some guaranteed mod 1 on 1 time. As far as the many forums Ive been on the mods here are some of the most tolerant. IMO they let many things go that other forums ban for. Thats why there are a lot of people here and not there. One forum I was on was reduced to topics about your favorite colors. Ahhh censorship.
I post a great deal -- arguably more than I should -- and mostly if you keep it off the personal with another poster when you are being hostile in your postings then you should be just fine. Argue the main topic or the branch thread topic not comment on what you perceive to be the nature of the poster him or herself. That's the main trick.
Well if your gonna hang around in the 9/11 room your already unbalanced so the question is moot Welcome to the forum. You and I will never see eye to eye on much but that's no reason not to feel welcome.
Hey buddy. Nice to meet ya. Hope you didn't misunderstand my previous post though. I'm personally certain 9/11 had nothing to do with bin Laden. I just meant the right don't generally like people talking about 9/11. In fact not just the right; half of the left too.
As with every political forum....the membership decides where it leans. The staff simply tries to guide over time, through Moderation and Ban. On this site I have found a natural balance that is unique, and very much appreciated. That the staff somehow manages to magically maintain it is refreshing.....and keenly observed. We are all lucky to have fond such a place.....and should help it grow.
Oh, I understand now. You're right wing. My apologies for being dumb. Forgot what I wrote in my own OP. Lol.
I believe there are more right wingers on here than left wingers so in that way it's not completely balanced. The mods are fine though - they are fair.
I have noted that the extreme right wing is far more vocal, which can easily be seen as a large mob at a glance. Moderate and "Old School" right wingers often remain silent rather than be seen as screaming with the mob.....I am beginning to wear the RINO badge with pride.
Post wise is very unbalanced because unfortunately very few from the center-whatever can support their positions . what kind of "true left winger" OP is ? like labor party ?
The more vocal a side is the more detached they are from reality This is because the they have to keep restating their position almost constantly to reinforce their belief in it, since reality argues against it all the time. More succinctly, lies must be repeated over and over, the truth speaks for itself. I'll leave our gentle readers to observe for themselves who the biggest loudmouths are on this or any other board. Given this general structure of existence I will say this board makes a game go at being fair. I'm not going to say "fair and balanced" because next you'd be expecting a "no spin zone" and then we'd have to shout posters down and cut people's mikes.in the interest of presenting both sides
I've been on pf about 7-8 yrs and usually feel that the treatment of posters is relatively fair. But usually most judgment calls are subjective on many of the Rules. But here is some advice: 1) Be careful about 'jousting' with posters of the opposite stripe, as it may be taken out-of-context as a 'Personal Insult.' 2) Never use another's poster's username in your posting, as it's can be seen as a 'Personal Attack." 3) Dont get too familiar with the Mods, as they are stricter with you in regards to 'making sure' that your friendship doesnt appear to impact their judgments! (most of the infractions I have received over the years are from my Mod 'friends') 4) And good luck with interpreting Rule #11 Good luck...well, you being a liberal...Bad Luck on here!..
Forgot to add>>>>>> Look at the Mod-Poster relationship as: The Mod is the helicopter parent and the poster is the rebellious teenager who pushes the rules and tries to get away with stuff...once you get that concept, you'll do fine on here!
I think that's probably true everywhere though, brother. Well, certainly in the West anyway. I would even dare argue that it's only in university that most people in the West are initially exposed to left wing thinking.
I've found that can actually be a purposeful tactic, both here and on other forums. Certain posters will try to twist something you've said into a personal insult, even if it obviously wasn't meant as such. So far though, it's only really far righties I've seen do this. Brother, I even think Liberals are too right wing. Lol. Thanks for the advice though. Appreciated. Peace.
The ones who run out of argument and start name calling on THIS forum are the Lefties! Well you'll have your work cut out for you on here, as: According to Charles Krauthammer (who even the Left calls brilliant), after this ongoing ACA fiasco, the Liberals may disappear completely with their recent example of the failure of big Govt. And so you may be a dying breed.....but Peace until we meet again. OD
You think people are encouraged into left wing thinking through the mainstream media????? Read Manufacturing Consent by Herman & Chomsky. See if you still feel the same way afterwards brother.
Working Class Americans tried that back in the 80s and 90s - t didn't work, they brought in Mexican scabs to replace us ...lol
