The issue is in America education became expansive. In 2023 calendar year UW Madison tuition cost 39k. Just the tuition cost 39K , then you have books, housing, food etc. almost 70k a year . How many American can send their kids to collage and pay 70k a year? Not many. So student loan is the only option.

By the time a kid graduate from a 4 years collage , he/s has over 300k loan. Forget about 4 years collage disagree with psychology, collage grade with computer science starting job is less than 40k.

A 22 old man or women with 4 years degree with computer science, 40K yearly salary and 300k debt. He/s couldn’t afford to buy a decent car to commute to her knew jobs, let alone buy a house or get married or have children.

Biden student debt was a flawed concept from the start. Congress has the power of the purse. But the real problem is how do we solve the root cause that – collage is too expensive.

Now before someone reply – if you can’t afford it then don’t go to collage. Well, in 21st century where India, China and EU spending more money in Collage education for their future generation then defense budget, America can’t afford not sending their kids to higher education.

With the government offering cheap debt repayments it keeps the price gouging and interest down. Meanwhile overseas student have to pay full fees - Aus makes quite a significant amount of money from overseas students.

Many states have scholarships that take care most of the cost if you’re a great student. FL does. Makes it more affordable or with a decent job you can certainly pay off your debt with a little responsible living.

Most really don’t belong in college. Affirmative Action made that perfectly clear when you look at dropout rates. Sadly now everyone looks at that data and it looks bad for the school so those numbers are becoming more manipulated.
