Western Civilization used to do those very things, once upon a time. & in the case of lynching in the US, not all that long ago. Still, the voters & the police & the judiciary do not condone such behavior any more. So we can hope that Islam will go beyond its view of justice.

& if we can figure out any way to hasten the development of more enlightened views within Islam - without provoking outrage there - I think we should encourage any positive outlooks we reasonably can.

Nonsense, the shah was installed in 1941 when Britain and Russia forced his father to abdicate the throne to his son. You cant "install" a Shah in 1953, when he has been shah since 1941. Amazing how many people that fall for this BS rewrite of history.

 

Nah, those were on visitor visas, possibly student visas. & they weren't pilots - they just wanted enough training to steer a commercial airliner into a ground target. Very foolish of the flight schools to keep up instruction, once they noticed how very very bad pilots these guys were turning out to be. & that none of them were interested in landing the heavy, just in steering & control layout & etc. in the cockpit.

These guys generated suspicion, but no one put the pieces together until after the fact. I was referring to actual students taking back political or social ideas from the US model back to their home countries.

Saudi Arabia spends 17% of Gdp on defense US about 3.5%. Most of Europe spends an even lower percentage. Russia and China spend higher percentages than the US but only slightly. Qatar is more than 10% as well. Infact most of the countries spending in excess of 5% of GDP are in the middle east.

 

Like Germany superiority in the 1930s or the US southern superiority of the 1860s or the Russian culture in the 1920s or...........
