If South Africa had nukes, I would be very interested in the statements and ideology of anyone assuming control of them, because as a human, I want to live. If I'm indifferent to a group, who openly profess me as an enemy, acquiring the capability to kill me at their discretion, I don't have a good survival instinct.

As an American, I have an interest in the fate of Israel's weapons in the unlikely event (right now) of a collapse of the Israeli security state. I'm aware of an effort by multiple countries and nongovernmental organizations, to varying extents or degrees at different times, over the decades, to destabilize the Israeli security state.

Our leaders' jobs are to let these outside actors know, this isn't like Iraq, Afghanistan, or Vietnam. This is existential to the US. We aren't going to allow any actor to upset the balance against the Israelis; your efforts will be in vain over the long term.

 

Which has nothing to do with What Israelis are doing is no different to what happening South Africa. For 20 years nobody spoke out in Europe, then finally the "free Nelson Mandela" movement gained traction. Eventually the South African "terrorists" were praised as heroes and the Zulu fought back and gained back their country and freedom.

Because as I said, there is a major difference. I'm trying to do what I believe Putin was doing before the Ukraine invasion when he was basically saying that if you continue to ignore that this is an existential threat to a great power, and you continue to push your own narratives as to what should guide action on the situation (and I agree with you the situation the Palestinians have been put in by this conflict is tragic, disgraceful, and in need of rapid remedy) only escalation and death follow.

The Biden administration didn’t seem to understand the concept of existential threat to a great power. I would beg of Israel's enemies not to make the same mistake, before this escalates into something horrendous, that nonetheless, the US will end.

It's not going to change the fact that that's not why a few hundred thousand people have died there, and it's not why Russians are fighting. I can see clearly that these people feel they are under existential threat. They also have great power. Therefore, when I just dismiss their motivations without consideration, there is high potential I'm going to get a lot of people killed.

 

Don't waste my time with straw man arguments. The Russians in Ukraine are a mix of Soviet-minded imperialists who believe the crap that Putin feeds them, mercenaries earning good money, and poor conscripts who have little choice in the matter.

Putin himself is arguably evil because he does not care about human life and is throwing it away in droves to achieve his personal ambitions and avoid being deposed.

Israel blames Palestinian Islamic Jihad for explosion at Gaza hospital

What they found shocked them. Hamas members were using Idan’s Facebook account to livestream themselves holding her and her family hostage. During the 43-minute broadcast, gunmen forced Idan and her family to crouch on a tile floor as missiles and gunfire blasted their building.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” said Keren de Via, a friend of the Idan family who watched Idan’s children hug their parents and cry during the livestream. “How could we watch them terrorize the family like this? How could I watch this on Facebook?”
