JERUSALEM, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Israeli settlers on Monday moved into a five-story building located in a Palestinian neighborhood in East Jerusalem, sparking local NGOs' concerns that a new settlement will be established in the area. Overnight Monday, a family of Israeli settlers occupied a building located in Jabal Mukaber, which had been empty since its construction in recent years except for a Palestinian family living on the top floor. According to Israeli NGO Peace Now, the previous owner, a Palestinian man, sold the building to an offshore company named Lowell Investments that belongs to Elad, an organization that promotes Jewish settlement in East Jerusalem. The same company bought an adjacent building two years ago. "It's a big building, and the settlers will bring Jewish families to live there and put more security around them, which will create more friction. It will be a very negative environment. East Jerusalem is a highly sensitive city in this sense, so to put islands in the middle of a Palestinian neighborhood will only hinder the possibility of a two-state solution," Hagit Ofran, director of Peace Now's Settlement Watch project, told Xinhua. Clearly the win at the UN has sent Mad Dog Bibi over the edge now. We can just sit back and watch as the world sees what we have been saying for decades. They are a cancer in our region. They are liars and killers and will never change.
The USA and Britains reputation was destroyed long ago because of them. Canada their latest 'special friend' is the latest the political casualty No country in it's right mind will have anything to do with them after the recent few months The state of Israel just went from gone in 10 years to gone in 5
So the building was sold and is occupied by rightful owners. What seems to be the problem? Arabs (and anyone else with money) buy property in New York and London and Toronto and elsewhere.
Canada's ruined reputation A comparison of the reception received by five consecutive speakers at the UN General Assembly, 44th Plenary Meeting, Question of Palestine on November 29, 2012. Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Conservative MP John Baird is received in silence - the only speaker to receive this snub from the Assembly. Stephen Harper is destroying Canada's reputation around the world.
Maybe it is the speech of Palestine claiming Jerusalem as their capital http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2012/12/02/Abbas-Jerusalem-Is-Ours
Sure: Private lands. There are no restrictions on the purchase of private land in Israel. Israeli Arabs or non-citizens, including Arab foreigners, may freely purchase it. The Israeli authorities have placed no obstacles in the way of such purchases, which are proceeding, as Israel's Deputy Housing Minister Meir Porush recently noted: The Palestinian Authority is encouraging purchases of land in Israeli territory by wealthy Palestinians. It is a matter of Palestinian figures tied to the real estate business, and living mainly in London, who try to purchase homes and lands in Jerusalem through agents and lawyers who live mainly in Ramallah. on the other hand: The Palestinian Authority's justice minister, Freih Abu Meddein, announced in early May 1997 that Palestinians who sell land to Jews will face the death penalty and over the next few weeks, at least four Palestinians said to have been involved in such sales were in fact murdered. In addition, Israeli forces rescued a fifth land dealer as he was being spirited from his home near Jerusalem to Ramallah, presumably to be killed. Evidence, both circumstantial and otherwise, pointed to direct PA involvement in each of these murders; indeed, Yasir Arafat himself justified the executions http://www.meforum.org/370/can-arabs-buy-land-in-israel So, where were we? Oh yeah, Arabs can buy property anywhere in the world including Israel but a few Israelis purchasing a building in East Jerusalem is an international incident. Do you think there is truth and justice in this?
As a Canadian id like to apologize for the actions of my government, they do not refelct most Canadians. The way our broken and undemocratic first-past-the-post voting system here qorks those guys got into power with only a small fraction of the popular vote. Harper is betraying Canadians and putting them in danger, he's a traitor.
Sorry buddy, but historically they belong in your region. Deal with them, however you guys see fit. From my angle, better they are over there than here. From my angle, all Jews should live in Israel, the land of the Jews.
I assume the Palestinian that owned the property was a Christian. I can't imagine any Muslim selling something to a Jew and not being killed as being a traitor to Islam; regardless if whether they knew who the buyer was or not. As I stated in another post, the problem in that part of the world is Islam, since its propagation and growth means more to its followers than human life... even that of their own children. As Golda Meir once said: "The problem with the Palestinians is that they hate us more than they love their own children." Sad!
only in your dreams abu. Although I must confess that I am seriously unhappy with the Canadian reaction.
Get serious. Our electoral system works just fine. They were elected with around 26% of the total eligible voter pool. Unfortunately too many Canadians couldn't be bothered voting. And as much as I dislike the man, he is no traitor. This is canada, we don't react to such hyperbolic bullcrap. As to being put in danger, we have been since we went to war in Iraq 1. Perhaps the most important reason why we haven't had a terrorist attack in canada (knock on wood) is that the muslim community has turned in the few radicals that have tried it. Now that is what being a Canadian is all about.
People from every nation in the world buy land and companies here in the USA. So who cares if a Palestinian sells his land to a Jew who hires other Palestinians to build a home for him on his own land which he purchased fair and square? Who's doing all this complaining anyway?.....Obviously it wan't the Palestinian who sold his land or building to a Jew. And those Palestinians who get hired by the Jew to build the Jews home aren't complaining. So who's complaining? Maybe we should either find the complainers and shoot them dead, or turn a deaf ear to them.....rather than elevate their bigotry to the level of international diplomatic validity. This is nutz! Are there no Palestinians who build homes in Israel?
You are aware of what Israeli land grabs and illegal settlements entails, right?..... Uh, clearly not.
If you are Palestinian you will find it next to impossible to build homes in Israel: http://electronicintifada.net/content/israels-open-jerusalem-closed-palestinians/8361
A legal contract is not a land grab anymore than buying a bag of jelly beans is theft. Likewise keeping strategic hold of certain terrain after a war, so as to maintain the future security of ones nation. Israels neighbors cannot be trusted.

In particular, UNSC res 478 notes Israel's non-compliance with UNSC res 476[1] and condemned Israel's 1980 Jerusalem Law which declared Jerusalem to be Israel's "complete and united" capital, as a violation of international law. Sure, right, MEF is your source, lol. I reference the post by Junobet post number 19 for an adequate rebuttal of your post.
I can't understand something, with all the mass killings and persecutions of non Muslims throughout the world, and with the genocides occurring almost daily, why does the U.N. spend so much time passing resolutions against Israel? Do they think only the Palestinians are worthy of their concern, and that the rest of us are subhuman? Who is in control of the General Assembly anyway?
