OK ... I just do not have desire talking about the sense or nonsense about the return of nationalism ... which of course is sold as patriotism ... so another question:

Are you aware of what a "no deal BREXIT" has for bad negative effects for you?
Yes ... for the EU too ... but I'm just talking about you British and how it affects you.
I sincerely hope that you are not one of the trolls who still have the British Empire in mind, think that the Commonwealth is the substitute for everything ... or that the WTO rules apply and everything is good and better?
Your Emipre is dead, the Commonwealth is a club without any economic or political alliances, and if the WTO is in effect, then tariffs on everything in both directions of the trade with all the evil consequences in terms of unemployment and price increases and gross domestic product!

Whatever the quids pro quo are, leaving the farce will be worth it if only to restore our national self-respect. I was listening to Today while waiting for the barber's to open this morning, and one of the 7 o'clock headlines was about May being off to Brussels again, and I couldn't help notice part of the report - it included the words verbatim 'to implore the EU . . . ' Can you imagine The Blessed Margaret imploring anyone to do anything? They'd either do it or get hand-bagged! God this humiliation is almost painful.

I'm an intelligent Englishman, Mandelus, and I don't take kindly to being lectured by a foreigner as to what's best for my country.

I have never denied or even doubted that you are an intelligent Englishman Cerberus ... :)
However, I have doubts whether you as a "No Deal" fan are fully aware of what it brings of bad consequences for you British.

This has nothing to do with interference or that I play the head teacher as a foreigner ... Personally, it does not matter now how you do the Brexit, the main thing I want is simply that it finally happens!
But as I said, I have doubts whether it is well aware of all proponents, what it all means ... if I ever alone on all the trash of outrageous lies of Johnson and Farrage in mind, what still today UK people believe as to be the truth!

I remain sceptical about how much national self-respect will be regained (then again I wasn't that worried about it being lost until the Brexit omnishambles picked up a full head of steam).

The UK is already coming under considerable pressure from the US to reduce our food standards as a prerequisite for getting a trade deal with the US. I see that pattern being repeated with the EU, China, India, Brazil and so on.

Amen to that!! :roflol: ;) Whether or not you like it, Mandelus, human beings are tribal - it's in our DNA - and the French, the Swedes, the Spanish, the Portuguese et al are not of our family, any more than they are family of the Germans. Multiculturalism doesn't work, because all families instinctively want what best for them, and don't care about other families; that's the human condition in play, and why the EU was such a stupid idea in the first place.

Que sera sera? I love the 'Brexit omnishambles' epithet though - I couldn't have put it better myself.

The Italians are of my family (by "blood" I'm 50% Italian) even though I've lived my entire life in the UK.

Mrs Don is an even greater mix of Scottish, Irish, French, German and Italian "blood" though she is US by upbringing.

Culturally I probably have greater affinity with the Dutch and Germans than I do with, say, Cockneys.

I mean that when the chips are down on whatever the issue might be, we'll look after our own first.

The entire western world has already become dysfunctional; and in my opinion it is doomed. Between open borders, affirmative action, multiculturalism, diversity, and people with border line retarded IQ's running for political office we are doomed.

And people with even lower IQ's voting for them.

If we only had another 30 million of them.

Yes, but who are "our own" ?

I'm I going to go out of my way to look after a Geordie, Scouser, Brummie, Cockney or Wurzel (or indeed Jock or Taffy) with whom I may share nothing other than happening to inhabit the same rock ?

Are the only people who are "our own" people who can trace their lineage in the UK back 2, 5, 10, 20 generations ? By that measure I'm not one of "our own" (my father is an immigrant), neither is Mrs Don and a lot of our friends an acquaintances aren't either.

"My own" is probably best described as a group of pan-European, wishy-washy, middle class, pseudo intellectual, atheist, liberals - not the Great British Public at large....

"Full sovereignty"? What nation has that? All are interdependent today. What illusions do people exist in?
Maintaining peace and prosperity is what Europe needs to be about. Diminishing that is unintelligent.

Or if he takes a stand, he'll lose voters.

So he'll probably just secretly keep his opinion to himself.

The law in the US regarding food, at least in some states, is that they have to specify fat and sugar, allergies..and that's it. On 99% of food products, you see on the label fat, sugar and...other ingredients. WTF. They can literally put **** in the food and voila..other ingredients. You just have to guess, imagine or hope. It's shocking for us who live in the EU.

Look, if you got mixed nationalities in your family then it's up to yourself as to how you divide and pledge your loyalties. I'm talking about the bigger picture, as you know perfectly well.

    Nah ... it's not multi-cultural Cerberus, that's something else!

I myself have a lot of criticism of the EU and I disagree with many things, but I see it pragmatically with the key question: What is the better alternative in a world that begins again to partition off each other and where then the larger ones try to dominate and to eat smaller ones ... economically and diplomatically seen?

Do you honestly believe that when such an idiot as Trump sets out with his punitive tariffs and all his evil behavior and then massively targets you only to blackmail you economically or diplomatically that you can defend yourself successfully?
Or take a smaller country like the Netherlands ... do you think they can fight alone?

As for the EU itself ... my personal view is that it should be dissolved and then the real founders of the core ... France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg ... alone a small EU. All the nationalists, troublemakers, masked little dictators, populists and other spinners should get along on their own ... and everyone who wants to join this new small EU first has to prove himself and submit to the strictest controls.

'old' often means wise - with age comes wisdom. But not in her case.

No ... a German with proven 400 years familiy history in Germany using this organ inside the head which is called brain! And because I do this and because I'm such a person, not only here, but also in other places, have I clearly taken a stand against this disguised fascist in Ankara, exposing him and his lies and crimes.
Therefore ... I do not want to male 20 years "Lost" holidays in a Turkish prison!

That's my take too - but principally the Anglo-sphere and NATO nations. The world has been dominated by the Anglo-Americans for several hundred years but control is now slipping and a shift is taking place eastwards and southwards.

@Mandelus - For some while now, I've been trying to figure out why you feel so strongly against Brexit; if you might have an agenda of some sort. Would you care to tell me?
