Jobless Claims in U.S. Decline to Match Lowest Since 1973 http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...-unexpectedly-fall-to-match-lowest-since-1973 Remember a few years back when conservatives would weekly post initial jobless claims and claim Obama was responsible? I was wondering why we haven't seen any posts on initial jobless claims lately. I think the title of the article cited above says it all.
Won't it be ironic if all the GOP obstructionism and economic sabotage of the last eight years merely delayed the full force of the recovery until right at election time? Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people.
Look for some Rightwing Radio-listening Rightwinger to try... "93 million are out of the work force".... a number thrown around by the likes of Sean Hannity....who FAILS TO MENTION that that number is (1) old....and (2) includes high school students college students the disabled and...RETIREES.
Yeah, I've heard him too. They have nothing else to say so they fabricate this kind of nonsense. It amazes me that people would put their trust in folks who are so dishonest. Well, after reading posts here, not really.
all about the quality of these jobs and how much they pay. People have been living of credit for too long that they dont even feel things like this anymore. - - - Updated - - - all about the quality of these jobs and how much they pay. Hey guys, this is great news!!!! With all these new jobs floating around the minimum wage workers will be able to quit their low paying jobs and find higher paying ones. It really should be quite easy, what with Obama patting himself on the back for lowering the unemployment rate and improving the economy so much. And the best part is Sanders and Clinton can stop yapping about how they're going to create more and more jobs because we already have them and they can move onto more important issues. lolz liberals. Your own presidential candidates say there are no jobs to be found.
Real median household income has been slowing improving, so some folks are getting better paying jobs.
Why did you leave out the big orange guy? 'I will be the greatest jobs president that God has ever created': Trump http://nypost.com/2015/06/16/i-will-be-the-greatest-jobs-president-that-god-ever-created-trump/
I took the thunder from you, didn't I, Steve? You were going to post Hannity's "93 million out of the work force", weren't you? And I ruined it in Post #4?
Meanwhile... "Industrial output declined 0.6 percent last month after a downwardly revised 0.6 percent drop in February."
LOL "Don't believe those phony numbers when you hear 4.9 and 5 percent unemployment. The number's probably 28, 29, as high as 35. In fact, I even heard recently 42 percent." Wisconsins "effective" unemployment rate is 20 percent. We have 93 million people out of work. They look for jobs, they give up, and all of a sudden, statistically, they're considered employed." Real estate developer Donald Trumps speech announcing he is running for the Republican nomination for president contained a number of false and misleading statements on the economy, trade, health care and terrorism: o He said there are no jobs to be had. In fact, there were 5.4 million job openings recorded at the end of April, the most in 15 years. o He said the real unemployment rate is anywhere from 18 to 20 percent and maybe even 21 percent. We see no factual basis for this opinion. http://www.factcheck.org/2015/06/trump-tramples-facts/
If you want to go off topic: o Economy that was tanking at a -9% rate and shedding 700,000+ jobs a month turned around o a record 72 straight months of private sector employment growth. o 125% increase in the stock markets since taking office o More than halved the deficit in 4 years. o Initial unemployment claims drop to lowest level since 1973 o Saved 2-3 million jobs with stimulus package o First decrease in spending in a year in decades - 3 times. o Stock markets up 170% since bottom of the recession in 2009 o Over 14 million additional private sector jobs created since Jan 2010 o Oil production increasing for the first time in decades. o Deficit reduced by a then record $212 billion, down 16%, in 2012. o Deficit reduced by a new record $408 billion, down 37%, in 2013 o Record corporate profits o 5 straight years of GDP growth o Unemployment rate dropped from 10% to 5.0% o U.S. becomes world's top petroleum and energy producer o Recovered all jobs lost in the worst recession in 80 years o Lowest rate of spending increases of any president in modern history o On-budget deficit has decreased every full fiscal year he's been in office. o Average initial jobless claims drops to levels last seen when Nixon was president. o US domestic oil use decreasing o Net creation of millions of people employed despite inheriting a economy losing 700,000+ jobs a month o Lowest level of initial unemployment claims in four decades. o Gas prices drop to below $2.00/gallon o Initial unemployment claims below 300,000 for a 48 straight weeks.
He owns like 6-7 of the 8 years when looking at largest deficits in history.... his deficit decreasing but still setting records isn't something to brag about and you list it like 3-4 times. Focus on the gas , jobs, and other areas that are actually somewhat truthful.
The labor force participation rate hasn't been this low since the 1970's either. U-6 Total unemployed, plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force - 9.8% That counts everyone.
No, you didn't ruin it because I know the left will never accept anything that comes from Hannity. But if unemployment is so low then why are Clinton and Sanders running on a jobs creation platform?
Obama has added more debt than George Washington, 1789-1797 John Adams, 1797-1801 Thomas Jefferson, 1801-1809 James Madison, 1809-1817 James Monroe, 1817-1825 John Quincy Adams, 1825-1829 Andrew Jackson, 1829-1837 Martin Van Buren, 1837-1841 William Henry Harrison, 1841 John Tyler, 1841-1845 James Knox Polk, 1845-1849 Zachary Taylor, 1849-1850 Millard Fillmore, 1850-1853 Franklin Pierce, 1853-1857 James Buchanan, 1857-1861 Abraham Lincoln, 1861-1865 Andrew Johnson, 1865-1869 Ulysses S. Grant, 1869-1877 Rutherford Birchard Hayes, 1877-1881 James Abram Garfield, 1881 Chester Alan Arthur, 1881-1885 Grover Cleveland, 1885-1889 Benjamin Harrison, 1889-1893 Grover Cleveland, 1893-1897 William McKinley, 1897-1901 Theodore Roosevelt, 1901-1909 William Howard Taft, 1909-1913 Woodrow Wilson, 1913-1921 Warren Gamaliel Harding, 1921-1923 Calvin Coolidge, 1923-1929 Herbert Clark Hoover, 1929-1933 Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1933-1945 Harry S. Truman, 1945-1953 Dwight David Eisenhower, 1953-1961 John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 1961-1963 Lyndon Baines Johnson, 1963-1969 Richard Milhous Nixon, 1969-1974 Gerald Rudolph Ford, 1974-1977 James Earl Carter, Jr., 1977-1981 Ronald Wilson Reagan, 1981-1989 George Herbert Walker Bush, 1989-1993 William Jefferson Clinton, 1993-2001 George Walker Bush, 2001-2009 Combined.
The fact that he inherited a deficit running at $1.2 trillion (soon projected to hit $1.9 trillion) and it's been reduced by 2/3 is certainly truthful. The on-budget deficit of $465 billion was actually lower than the on-budget deficits in 2003-2005, and, as a percentage of GDP, was lower than it was in 2002-2006 and 1982-1995. If Obama were a white Republican, I'm pretty sure conservatives would be bragging about it loudly.
Great! Wonderful! We don't need to bring jobs back from overseas and there are plenty of other jobs to be had for the minimum wage workers who want to move up. I feel better already.
False claims are your favs? RW propaganda? The debt was at $10.6T when Obama took office at is $19.2T today. It has increased by $8.6 trillion. A trillion of that can be attributed to direct federal student loans.
What we really need to do is stop the policies that have redistributed so much income and wealth to the richest and away from the middle classes. We need to stop pampering the richest and start rebuilding our middle classes. Reverse "trickle down".
That's what happens when you have the worst recession in 8 decades and retiring boomers. U-6 is up because people nearing or at retirement age are leaving full time jobs and working part time by choice. But its down from the 14.6% rate when Bush left office.
