The man is as much a terrorist as Osama Bin Laden, its only his connections that he isn't snuffed out.

If he had done this (*)(*)(*)(*) to Russia, Putin wouldn't have been so forgiving.

Inseminating a sleeping woman without a condom against her will is sick and deserves to at least be answered for regardless of who he is or what he's done.

I would have been surprised if he had not been extradicted.

There is no basis to refuse to do so.
He is being extradicted to a Western country where he can expect to be accorded all of the legal protections that he would be afforded in Britain too.

Like Strauss he'll probably get off. Rape is a very difficult one to prove.

I don't think he really ever denied the charges, didn't it come out that its pretty much accepted that the woman woke up with his bare willy inside her and he finished the job? That deserves some stern questioning at least! She never consented to unprotected sex with him and when she fell asleep he took advantage of her. That is wrong and we all know it.

Even in the allegation, it is admitted the woman had had consensual sexual relations with him before falling asleep. The issue appears to be the lack of consent to sex without a condom, although I haven't heard any evidence she contracted any diseases or was impregnated. As far as crimes go, it seems pretty small potatoes (the sort of prosecution a liberal would bring). Silly Magic wants Assange punished for the Wikileaking of U.S. documents and the merits of the case have nothing to do with it.

The real question is whether the U.S. can get an extradition out of Sweden to send Assange to the U.S. if he is cleared of the charges. I could even see the women withdrawing the charges once Assange is in Swedish custody but before being given bail, just so the extradition process can be carried out.

Its seems to me getting him extradited from the UK,given shared ideologies and interests, would be less of an issue than asking Sweden to do the same.

Im just not seeing where Sweden would be willing to do many favors or share much sympathy for the US.

Yeah,,they'd be propping up despots, be engaged in secret wars and sending boy soldiers into battle against battle hardened troops.

He'll win. This looks like a case of he-said and she-said.
I imagine that after he wins, the Americans will continue to try and arrest him for some non existent crime.

Their stories don't stand up. They're claiming rape and yet they Facebooked about him in glowing terms for days afterwards, invited him out, etc. Yeah, that just screams rape. No sensible jury would convict on that alone.

Remind me, when did the US indict Assange let alone seek his arrest? Let me help you out. Never. The USAG chose not to seek prosecution.

The funny thing is that Sweden wants him to talk to him. Isn't extradition usually about getting someone who is charged?

Assange was even granted permission to leave Sweden having being told he was cleared.
