Your reasoning makes no sense to me.
I'm sorry. It appears you are attempting to make excuses for slave masters who raped their female slaves, and use that as a way to deny reparations to the descendants of slaves. That is a classic case of blaming the victim.

Would not surprise me if the slaves raped the slave master to be honest.

black women are obsessed with white men.

I am glad your family received their reparations. I hope one day the USA will pay reparations to the descendants of African slaves.

Why do blacks have to be made happy? Why does someone alive today have an obligation to make blacks happy? Blacks have a day to celebrated their liberty and freedom why two now?

I doubt its a 'buy off' because reparations does not yet register as particular popular outside blacks and some very specific demographic groups. Its growing in support among Democrats and white youth but its still not over 50% even in these two categories. Junteenth will be a distant political memory in five years and for this movement to gain real nation wide momentum will take a lot longer if we ever make it a high budgetary priority. I just don't see any serious gas to throw millions and millions at this, with climate change, income disparity, and increased security issues, needing money while interest on debt eats up whatever we can squirrel away from political and social demands.

So how much are you due? (Assuming you are actually black) and how do you determine who is "black enough"? Bet you wont answer.

Nothing quite says "hooray for the end of slavery" like another paid holiday for federal employees....amirite?

I believe Juneteenth will continue to be popular with Black people, just as it has been for many years. I also believe part of the inspiration for making it a federal holiday was to take Black people's mind off of reparations.
I know the subject of reparations is not popular among Whites. And I don't believe money is really the issue. Did you notice how fast the government found money for the COVID19 relief checks? It's all about priorities. So far reparations for slavery isn't a priority.
But, I'm going to keep talking about it. :)

You should just hang your hat on a job, like most of us whites do, to get by in this world :)

Priority? Why is it even a considered thought? How much has been spent already on black communities, how much affirmative action, how much special handling and programs? How much are you owed for reparations?

It's a lot more constitutional than paying reparations and a lot less of a lie.

You can't pay reparations for slavery because the people who were slaves are dead, the people who enslaved them are dead. The opportunity to repair has passed.

    It is a tribute

The government can't have out benefits on the basis of race read the 14th Amendment.

You don't pay reparations to the descendants of slaves. Almost everyone on the planet is a descendant of a slave.

The root word to reparation is repair. If you were never a slave there is nothing to repair. All the repairs have been done before you were born.

This is just a carrot on a stick to try and keep black soldiers from leaving the Democrat Party.

Is there a day celebrating the deaths of the hundreds of thousands of whites who paid the price of reuniting the union?

Seems to me only TX should celebrate that day in June.

I was talking to my dad about being up for a promotion at work. He asked me if it would involve a raise. At the time, I didn't know and told him so. He said "They can give you all the fancy titles they want. It only counts when they compensate you accordingly."

I don't believe it's that cut-and-dry regarding reparations but I know for a fact that police officers were VERY angry when MLK's birthday was declared a national holiday. I know of several incidents in which they went out looking for black people to harass. It was very scary at the time. I saw some of my friends get beaten up. One was thrown on the ground with the officer stepping on his spine and holding his weapon to the back of my friend's head. It was unbelievable.

So, I'm a bit ambivalent about the holiday and/or reparations. I can understand why we need to answer this question. I just worry about what kind of retaliation will rain down on minorities because of them.

I believe that Memorial day is more for vets of WW2 than anything else.

Thank you for sharing this. Police brutality has always been a reality. Of course, Black folks knew that already.

I am a white man who once had a cop aim his gun at my head and order me out of my car.
Before he was able to drive me to Santa Rita County Jail, I managed to make him my friend and he gave me his home address plus his phone number. He would get my tickets killed by some Judge he knew.
So if I could speed at over 110 mph in a 35 mile zone and not go to jail, others also can. He decided not to give me a ticket for speeding that time he pointed his gun at me.

I heard Memorial Day is for ALL vets of all wars. Why would it be only for WW2 vets? When I visit my local cemetery on Memorial Day, there are American flags on all the service members grave sites.

    Decoration Day

Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades.

If I was a black man, I would pick my heroes from the list of blacks who actually accomplished good things. Men like Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams and yes, Morgan Freeman among others would be my role model. Denzel Washington the actor is a fine model for black adults.

It does not matter if you are a black slave or a white slave, digging out of slavery is a hard thing to do. Slaves of all colors are not schooled in getting rich.
