Jussie's New Hit Single

From the predictably sympathetic Huffpost, I learn today that Jussie is a songwriter. Who knew? This is sure to rocket to #1!


The short snippet starts with the following words on the social media post, “CHANNELING THESE THOUGHTS THE BEST WAY I KNOW HOW. LOVE YOU… - JUSSIE.”

Smollett then croons: “It’s like they’re hell-bent on not solving the crime / Taking out the elements of race and trans and homophobia that’s straight taking lives / But turn around and act like I’m the one that killed the strides.”

The former “Empire” actor speaks directly to his critics with the lyrics, “Some people searching for fame / Some people chasing that clout / Just remember this ... this ain’t that situation / You think I’m stupid enough to kill my reputation.”

It's not stupidity, Jussie, though you are assuredly that; it's dishonesty and mendacity.

Also, croons? Move over, Bing Crosby. There's a new kid in town!

 

It gets worse:

"All I ever wanted to do was make my people proud / Fame is nothing real, it’s how you make them feel / Celebrity is for the birds, I ain’t no man of steel."

No Shakespeare, he.

 

Smollett did real damage to the LGBTQIA+ and Black communities with the stunt he pulled. There are real instances of abuse and assault faced by these communities and he did a lot to delegitimize/deter future reports.

 

There are at least three black comedians, Chappelle being one, that have done some hilarious parodies of Jussie's outcry.

He's not even finding refuge in the black community. Part of me wants to feel sorry for him. A very small part.

 

I feel sorry for him, as I would for anyone in a bad sItuation, but this situation is his own making.

 

I suspect that he now actually believes the story, if for no other reason than to maintain his sanity.

 

Could be. You tell a lie often enough you’ll start to believe it yourself.

 

Wow, only a trump lover would even know who "Jussie" is. I had to look it up. LOL!

You seem unaware that Jussie made himself a household name through his folly. The incident was important for the damage he did to LGBTQ interests.

You seem unaware that I voted for Johnson.
