Just returned from Israel

I spoke with a neighbor yesterday about his vacation to israel. he said it was awesome to see the old buildings. He claimed the old city of jeruselem was something everyone should see.

I asked about the people; he said the tension is huge.

No one trusts anyone.

Children are on every corner and the guide warned him to make sure ever item of personal value is hidden from site. That in their tour many lost everything from their wallets, cameras and even the tour radio recievers were taken with the headphone still on. He said there were soldiers no more than 18-19 yrs old with m-16's all over the place.


he said at each muslim prayer time the droaning of the prayer session carried across the city as loud speakers were carrying the sound to everyone.

He said the wailing wall had 2 sides, a women side and mens side which was strange as he thought he would be able to be with his wife.

He said the dome was huge and that it was strange that on one side (of the wall), the muslims would be praying and it was on speakers and that on the other, people were at the wall rocking back and forth.

He said the muslim sites were open to the public but that women must observe covering themselves as the custom.

His overall comment was that the tension and petty crime were tough to comprehend.

I said, that's the 'holy land' for ya and that the reason is, they (both sides) want that mount.

He said, it felt like at any moment something could happen.

I told him, that nothing in the whole of existence is going to stop the war of wars from happening and the best advice i could give anyone is; get out of that land. That no matter which side anyone is on, nothing will stop it!

I do believe he understood and now he knows why and of first hand awareness of just how bad it really is.
