Abraham Lincoln did not fight the Civil War to "free the slaves". It was merely to preserve the union.

Many southern whites were fighting/dying because God/Jesus gave them the RIGHT to own slaves in the Bible - God/Jesus accepted slavery, so how could slavery be wrong, they believed. I blame God/Jesus to some degree for that war - more Americans died in that war than any other war. Sometimes HALF of our total dead from Vietnam would die in 48 HOURS in the Civil War, in just one battle!

A sane "god" would come down and said "whoa, no need to fight, I've changed my mind and now believe that slavery is NOT cool - forgive me, please."

 

No, not 'brown immigrants'. We like NE Asians, Indians, Nigerians, Kenyans, etc etc.

You must need to work hard to perpetuate the fantasy that it's about race, while carefully avoiding the reality that it's about culture.

Because God/Jesus/Bible approves of slavery to this very day (I'd be embarrassed to admit that I was a Christian!), and many Northerners were indeed Christians, you might be right about the North not really caring about slavery as much as most folks believe.

 

Wouldn't want your brown pets to be shown up. They might start looking a little too closely at that master/slave relationship, and develop uppity ideas.
