... Where I work the hit songs of the seventies, eighties and nineties are being played continually. Apparently.... at least sixty percent... if not seventy percent... but perhaps even ninety percent of the most famous musicians..... and actors in Hollywood are witches and warlocks.......

I do believe that as a Christian I should be really, really, really worried for the eternal souls of all these people.....

I don't think that America's decay is due to either the lack or abundance of righteousness of its Church's. I think it's due to the absence of love for even the basic tenets of civility and conscience among the nations general population from which the Church's are peopled.

Two thousand years ago, God's Son Jesus Christ came to save, and they murdered him. They also murdered his Apostles and early members of his Church. So surely righteousness in and of itself holds no power over the free agency of others. What then is a Church to do more than that? Keep in mind that Satan and a third of heavens hosts rebelled against God in his very presence. Was God not righteous enough?

That's not to say that any person or Church has no room for improvement. But to say that one persons imperfection, love for and reliance upon God, is somehow the cause of another persons unrepentant love of evil, is a falsehood. Everyone is free to accept or reject Gods sacrifice. Like Joshua said, "Choose ye this day whom ye will serve."

This holds true in a secular sense as well, in consideration of right and wrong, in either obeying or disobeying the law, and in how we live our lives and treat others.

 

As much as there is commendable in the churches, nonetheless there are some in the churches
urged to repent immediately and stand against the ungodliness around them.

 

I do believe that Christians have accomplished a lot of good here in the USA and Canada and around the world.......

Your tenacity is commendable. But you can't save everyone, nor should you. God wants the best or the best of ourselves. Jesus said the way to life(himself and gospel) is narrow, where few enter. But the way to death, which is anywhere outside of himself and his gospel, is broad, where many enter.

The fundamental problem with churches is that we expect the pastors to be saintly. I much prefer someone who will stand up there and say, "Sure I have my doubts" and "I really don't know what this means to us today" than someone who thinks they are infallible who knows exactly what every word and every sentence in the Bible means.

 

True. Honesty is supposed to be part of Christianity, there's a rule somewhere that goes like: thou shalt not lie.
Different people interpret that in different ways, detail differences, but it is pretty clear it is a ban on duplicity.

Or as Dr. Peterson puts it: tell the truth, or at least, do not lie.

 

Someone told me the defense budget was the biggest item of expenditure,
I agreed it is way over size, but for 2023 it was 103.2 billion dollars which is
far less than wasted on the bureaucracy of health insurance.

He didn't agree, until I reminded him that 90% of what is called 'defense'

In 2021 Congress sent 'defensive' weapons to Zelensky,
when there were no Russian targets they could be used on

republics' of Donbass and Luhansk to kill civilians.
And maybe it was understandable that the Russian Federation
moved some forces in to remove those artillery pieces.

To make any sense of what is going on we need to start telling the truth.

 

I think your real point is that we need to love, accept and support EACH OTHER.

In Matthew as I've often quoted, Jesus order Christians to search out those in poverty, in prison, in hospital that we may help them.

He didn't suggest or demonstrate hate for fellow man.

Yes, he got killed. That was the plan. It is hard for me to imagine that he wouldn't be killed, given that he came to Earth to invalidate the religion of God's chosen people.

But, that's not an excuse. For better or worse, we all need to follow the directive of Jesus in Matthew and the principles of how Jesus led his life.

Regardless of what religion anyone follows, that's a solid philosophy.

Yes, that's what he said! And, a Christian would absolutely believe that.

They would see the prophecy as referring to Jesus, that Jesus was one with God. That a NEW covenant was formed, rendering the old covenant moot.

The fact that the old covenant was replaced clearly invalidated Judaism. The new testament does NOT suggest that one way to heaven is to follow Judaism.

As for Islam, they revere Jesus as the highest prophet mentioned in the Bible, the only prophet to carry our miracles through the power of God. But, like Judaism they accept Jesus as a man, and have a pathway to heaven perhaps more similar to Judaism.

 

Jesus Christ is the first fruit of Judaism. His mission was the fulfillment of one aspect of Judaism. The remainder of the prophecies and laws must also be made perfect and come to fruition, just as that which came to fruition in the great sacrifice made by Jesus Christ.. It is the Fathers work. Jesus said that all the prophecies and laws of Judaism will remain and be perfected until the Fathers work is done, and the earth and heaven pass away. God the Father has many more wonderful and marvelous works to accomplish. In Matthew 14:12 Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." This goes to the same point of a magnification of the Fathers work in the fulfilling of Judaic prophecy and law, which others will carry out because Jesus mission was fulfilled and he had to return to his Father. Jesus Christs mission wasn't the end. It was the beginning. It wasn't the death of Judaism. It was its rebirth. To say that's all there is, that Judaism is dead, and that Jesus Christs mission is the end, is like plucking the first fruit from a tree and then cutting the tree down. It is senseless. It is also contrary to Jesus own words. I don't care what practicing Jews or traditional Christians think or practice. This is the truth. Jews who reject Christ are no worse than Christians who reject Judaism. They both deny the power and work of the God of Israel.

 

Is Judaism a religion that fully enables its strong followers to be saved and taken to heaven?
