Turns out the benchmark silver plans--the ones that have been among the most popular with shoppers and that determine how much Obamacare costs the taxpayers--in exchanges are either outright decreasing next year or increasing only modestly. Key O-Care premiums to decrease, study finds Welcome news, but perhaps not all that surprising given the news that's been trickling out of states lately. Like: Good news for Oregonians! Insurance isn't healthcare Also there are many ways to lower price that are not good for the consumer. Important things to know.
So as the prices drop the wait times go up. Not a fair trade off in my opinion. In cities, the average doctor wait-time is 18.5 days http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2014/01/29/in-cities-the-average-doctor-wait-time-is-18-5-days/
This ignores the fact that California premiums rose 88% in the last six months or so... not sure I can take this 4% raise claim seriously but even if that were the limit, it'd probably be because they already skyrocketed. At best then, I think the argument in OP is "all the rate rising was gotten over with at the start."
Reading your post, one imagined massive increases across the board for all health premiums in California. In fact, it was nothing of the sort: Note 1. Individual policies, meaning not even close to every policy in the state. Note 2. No mention that, because of subsidies, most people never saw that increase. Note 3. No mention at all as to what types of policies were held before and after the increases (that is, were they those stripped down, worthless policies absent any real coverage?). Note 4. What percentage increased 88% vs. 22% and why?
This thread is leftwing BS and is a total fail when it comes to obamacare here in Nebr. A few days ago it was announced that the costs of obamacare here will go up drastically!!!!!!
Actually if you don't get a subsidy then you are the one it does matter too as the government isn't going to absorb the increase for you like it did for the folks who get subsidized.
Again, you left out most of the story because the much higher prices do NOT affect everyone, and those they do affect are likely people who kept their crap policies, but with decent policies, they will have to pay more - maybe. Given possible subsidies, they may get more and pay less. Blue Cross’ employer group policies, which cover 560,000 people, will carry increases averaging 5 percent or less. Counting all of the insurer’s health policies, including Medicare supplement plans, the average Blue Cross increase for 2015 will be 8 percent or 9 percent.
Let's see now. A good and loyal and lower middle class Democratic husband and wife with -- say -- three children, were just getting by on a health care policy that did not cover much past the bare necessities, but that they could afford -- just. Now The Dem Party leadership and their once much praised and very nearly worshiped Anointed One reached out and took their plan from them and slapped a better plan in front of them with the statement that, "You WILL pay for this or be fined!" Hmmmm . . . and so they look it over and conclude that while it could be labeled a better plan in some respects they simply cannot afford it and maintain their current (barely adequate) lower middle class lifestyle. So they reluctantly purchase the plan -- which they already know is probably soon going to be seeing a rate increase as well -- drop down to upper level POOR, and then seriously reconsider their heretofore solid loyalty to the Democratic Party . . . and in a big way, because now they know that the Right had been correct from the get-go and that Obama (and by keeping their mouths shut) the entirety of the Democratic Party's leadership knowingly, methodically, and repeatedly lied to them. Ergo . . . for some inexplicable reason that raging hard core leftwingers and fanatically loyal Obama supporter just can't quite seem to put their fingers on, those FORMERLY loyal members of the Democratic Party are angry; and then look . . . the 2014 mid-term elections are just around the corner. Oh and in 2016 the Dem Party leadership will gear up to lie to them some more while begging them to support -- oh let's say -- Queen Hillary for the presidency, whom that same Dem Party leadership and political pundits -- with a sly wink and a knowing smile -- will strongly intimate that she will surely fix EVERYTHING that their . . . once highly touted Political Messiah has been screwing up big time for the previous eight years. Yeah . . . that sounds like a winner of a long term political plan. I highly recommend that leftwingers run with that one. It couldn't possibly end up with them collectively shooting themselves in the political foot.
You really should have read the link I gave you: Of those buying policies on the marketplace, 90 percent qualified for tax subsidies that reduced their premiums and, in some cases, out-of-pocket spending. Those struggling people with three kids would likely obtain better coverage for lower out of pocket cost to them and be thrilled to pieces. They might even remember the lies told to them by Republicans when they go to vote in November.
Depends on the location, plan, and issuer. Benchmark silver premiums in Denver are dropping 15.6% next year. Premiums for the lowest bronze plans in Denver are dropping 10%.
Nice to see our OFA paid shill return to tout crap. He was under a rock during the push out. Now he's back peddling agitprop. ObombaCare is still hated across America. Your lies won't change that.
When the majority of states are not enrolled in the subsidy program because they do not want to see state taxes increase? All the leftwing objections have already been debunked time and time again. But -- hey now -- keep plugging away with those fantasies, because surely no hurting and angry Dem family would think about all those Obama and Dem Party leadership generated LIES and get ANGRY or anything like that.
Uh-huh... maybe so, and maybe no. I won't believe anything that emanates from a lying POS like Obama until AFTER the November elections, and like I said in a previous post, he's already made lots of illegal changes to Obamacare without even asking Congress -- as he is required to do! Think about it... We're going to have somewhere between 40 - 50 million people added to Obamacare who have never even bothered to get their own damned healthcare insurance before now. But taxpayers are going to continue to pay for not only their own coverage, plus all these other people, too?! And costs are going to go down?! Not even the Federal Reserve combine can cook up enough fiction to make that look plausible....
The subsidies are not optional. The feds pay for them and they are available to all whether the states republican governors want them or not. There was no "enrollment" to choose to do or not. I think someone may have lied to you my friend, who has been telling you such things?
Average Obamacare Premium Increase Estimated At 7.5 Percent The Employer mandate starts Jan 1st 2015. Companies will begin to send out notices of employee only and no company sponsored health plans at the end of this month and October as open enrollment starts in November. This is going to get good. I wonder how much of our tax dollars they are promising the Insurance companies to drop the rate increased in the areas they are dropping to keep Democrat voters getting hosed.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/07/31/us-usa-healthcare-california-idUSKBN0G02FF20140731 Its is 4% you are flat out lieing about the 88% increase.
And what are the copays and deductibles on the bronze plan? How large is the coverage zone, at what clinics and hospitals is it accepted at? The upfront cost is not the only thing to look at. Many insurance companies have been increasing copays and deductibles, decreasing coverage zones and providers in order to lower costs. Is this a good thing? Less access to care, higher out of pocket for the customers if they do get sick, but hey you are paying a little less a month for the insurance! Ohh and don't go to a care provider not in your coverage zone or you will pay 100% out of pocket. Just a quick search... http://kff.org/health-costs/report/patient-cost-sharing-under-the-affordable-care/ People paying for the bronze plans probably don't have the cash to meet the deductibles and copays. I get insurance from my employer and I couldn't cover $6,000 right now. I rather pay for cheaper insurance that covers catastrophic care, the money i saved on insurance I could save and invest so I would have more if I needed simple care ever.
You guys keep nitpicking about this and you don't even live in California, many policies saw an 88% increase.
